Still the best Star Trek series.

Great show. I don’t know that I ever got to see the last season due to weird syndication broadcasting. But I thought it was a great cast. They needed help with storylines though and gave them a ship.

Great show. One of my favorite exchanges in the series, from Waltz (season 6, episode 11):

"Now let me get this straight. You're not responsible for what happened during the occupation, the Bajorans are."
"Yes, yes, exactly."
"So, why do you think they didn't appreciate this rare opportunity you were offering them?"
"Because - they were blind, ignorant fools. If only they had cooperated with us, we could have turned their world into a paradise. From the moment we arrived on Bajor, it was clear that we were the superior race. But they couldn't accept that. They wanted to be treated as equals when they most certainly were not. Militarily, technologically, culturally, we were almost a century ahead of them in every way. We did not choose to be the superior race. Fate handed us our role. And it would've been so much easier on everyone if the Bajorans had simply accepted their role. But no. Day after day they clustered in their temples and prayed for deliverance, and night after night they planted bombs outside of our homes. ... Pride. Stubborn, unyielding pride. From the servant girl that cleaned my quarters to the condemned man toiling in a labour camp to the terrorist skulking through the hills of Dahkur Province. They all wore their pride like some twisted badge of honour.
"And you hated them for it."
"Of course I hated them! I hated everything about them! Their superstitions and their cries for sympathy, their treachery and their lies, their smug superiority and their stiff necked obstinacy, their earrings and their broken wrinkled noses!"
"You should have killed them all, eh?"
"Yes! Yes! That's right, isn't it? (his companions nod) I knew it! I've always known it! I should have killed every last one of them. I should have turned their planet into a graveyard the likes of which the galaxy had never seen! ... I should have killed them all."

Great television that juggled so many different factions and personalities. The scope of the story, the intrigue from clashing agendas, and the strength of the supporting cast are what carried Deep Space Nine. Allot of the weekly stories, especially early on, floundered from poor comparisons to The Next Generation (or were mixed bags), but anything related to progressing or coloring around the main plot usually delivered. Going just off those, you can see why so many hardcore trekkies pick DS9 as their favorite Trek show (not me - I think the average from the real stinkers pull it down too much, and TNG takes it from a stronger main cast and generally more interesting weekly stories, but I like DS9 allot).

This one hurts. An amazing show that feels like it came out 15-20 years ago. I always forget it and Voyager technically released before I was even born, given how often I watched them growing up. It is quite sad that we will likely never get a good Star Trek show again.

Yes, that is my favorite Trek conversation and moment. I always got a kick out of Dukat’s subconscious depiction of Major Kira hamming it up in the background, talking shit and laughing at him. So good.

And then I remember Allamaraine. The actors were clearly having none of it.

This is the show I want to slap modern Hollywood around the face with and scream THIS IS HOW YOU DO DIVERISTY, YOU FUCKING IDIOTS.
I remember when DISCO came out and the smooth brains on Twitter and Era were fellating it for having the first black Captain - completely forgetting that Sisko existed.

And when they were reminded of him they switched to the first black woman Captain, again forgetting that about the Captain of the Saratoga in Star Trek IV way back in 1986.

I watched the full season during the pandemic. Great show. Would be cool to see Sisko in Picard season 3.

Shakespeare in space.

Once you get past the hop scotch episode it is the best thing to have ever been on TV.

The background noise to Quark’s bar is my happy place.
I have to skip that damn hop scotch episode on every rewatch. Its so bad it can single handedly derail my desire to watch the show. Thankfully it has no real plot value and can be skipped.

Each night I thank the Prophets that the entire cast didn't immediately hand in their notice upon receiving that script.

This show was such a divergence from what was expected from a Star Trek, that it didn't quite get its following right away. It probably helped my enjoyment of the series that I would watch it once all of its episodes had aired and I could watch multiple episodes each night every night of the week. The storylines are the best of any of the quality Star Treks. Probably my favorite thing about this show is the character development and evolution of the characters, especially Worf and O'brien. Worf especially comes into his own in this show.

I just started watching Next Generation. Other than a few of the Star Trek movies, this is my first real Star Trek experience and I'm loving it!. I'm up to Season 2.

I know I have a long way to go but I can't wait to watch the other series.

Also, I hope to not derail this thread, but its fun to actually watch where certain Star Trek memes come from. I'm keeping my eye out for "In before the lock" meme. So far I caught these two:

Oh man you are in for a treat. S1 has a special place in my heart because it’s quite dark and still isn’t sure what it is but S3 onwards is where you get banger after banger after banger. So many iconic episodes and moments.

Blows my mind that it’s your first time. I don’t remember a time when I didn’t watch TNG. I have no knowledge of having no knowledge of it. My dad started me early.

Give me the start of any line from any episode and I can finish it for you. It would be my party trick if the rest of the world was as cool as I am.

This is the show I want to slap modern Hollywood around the face with and scream THIS IS HOW YOU DO DIVERSITY, YOU FUCKING IDIOTS.

People constantly like to shit on people who complain about the "Diversity efforts" of modern Hollywood/shows, without ever thinking about *why* people can hate the modern crap but love shows like Voyager and DS9. The vast majority of people can tell when things come from a genuine place and are well written shows (which is what DS9/Voyager were) and can tell when something is blatant heavy-handed bullshit done to fill a checklist (which is every modern Star Trek and shows like Rings of Power are).

More DS9, less Discovery. More Xena Warrior Princess, less Rings of Galadriel.

Indeed.

The problem is the certain segment of people who react rabidly to anything vaguely female/non-white who sensible people end up being lumped in with.

Any genuine complaints about inauthenticity or moralising or historical re-writing etc. are then dismissed easily and yourself painted as an [x]-phobe.

The problem is not with any issues surrounding diversity or inclusion… the issue is that the standard of screenwriting in Hollywood has fucking plummeted in recent decades.

The irony of course being that the only true lack of diversity that exist in modern entertainment is in Hollywood itself, in terms of the kinds of people that write for all these shows and movies.

Usual operation for a group of people who think they're progressive. Champagne af and completely self-serving and superficial.

Currently balls deep 9 in a deep space 9 rewatch. Finishing up season 3 right now, even. What a show.

Man I remember how excited I was to go to school and geek out with friends the day after the big fight with the Klingons aired. I don’t think Star Trek had anything like the big space battles DS9 introduced. I never missed an episode. I was a bit too young to catch early TNG (but my brother obsessively taped them so I did go back and watch) but DS9 was like prime Trekkie time for me.

TNT or TBS or something aired them all in order again and as an adult I DVR’d them and basically binged it at an episode a day. Definitely appreciated the characters more than the pew pew action as an adult. Now I want to watch again.

I think DS9 was the first Trek to shine through that the Federation could have rot at its core.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Best Star Trek
The cast can die in a fire for their modern Twitter takes that make me want to never watch them on screen ever again

I avoided it for years because it was set on a space station. Turned out to be my favorite Trek. Go figure.

lol, pretty much the same for me. I watched maybe the first two episodes, declared it crap, and promptly forgot about it. A decade and a half later I caught up with the later seasons in syndication and was amazed at how good they were.

Being in that world gives you brain damage. There is no other explanation.

But all actors are dumb as shit really. They are paid to speak other people’s words. Independent thought is an alien concept to them. They are meat puppets who exist solely for our entertainment.

It was a really good show, the writing ,stories and character's were top notch i remember it well, the last great Star Trek series for me, after TOS and TNG, they went downhill after Deep Space Nine imo, Happy Anniversary.

People who were kids when it aired don't like hearing it, but Voyager was garbage. It was a TNG recycle show made on the cheap for a new network and it showed. Garret Wang wore Brent Spiner's shoes. They recycled TNG effects shots like the Dyson sphere, and re-used rejected TNG scripts.

Voyager has like four good episodes in total. It was terrible.
Enterprise was very underrated - it ended just as it was ramping up, too. The last decent Trek, imo.

No Trek after that is even worth acknowledging. I feel genuine disgust over what they have done to it and the cast members who have been involved have committed an unforgivable sin in my eyes,

The first two seasons of Enterprise, the Berman-Braga years, weren't great. Seasons 3 and 4, when they brought in Manny Coto to run it were fantastic and fulfilled the prequel aspect perfectly and it had an amazing finale before Berman forced his own shit finale to ruin it. The real final episode of Enterprise is Terra Nova, not These Are the Voyages...

I don't remember the specific episodes but I do remember believing the penultimate ep was the real end one too. I also remember it being quite emotional... I need to watch it again, it's been years.

The Tucker and T'Pol relationship really got to me. I was a young man unsullied and unstained by life lol.
