Today is the 30th anniversary of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

I remember shockingly little of Ent at this point. There's Bakula and the beagle.

There's the decon chamber scene.

(which I failed to find in the GIF searcher but that reminds me they had an old timey Earth episode in there)

There was the trailer before it aired set to "Wherever You Will Go" which they followed up with the Patch Adams song or whatever for the actual theme. And I think there Space Nazis at some point. Space Lizard Nazis? Space Nazi Lizards? On Earth?

No Trek after that is even worth acknowledging.
Eh, I actually enjoy Star Trek Lower Decks. It started off rather rough in season 1 like all good Treks, but figured out what it wanted to be in season 2. Honestly, it has some enjoyable nods to older Trek while still having some fun, thankfully realizing quickly that aping Rick and Morty wouldn’t cut it.

Sure makes for a nice romp, especially compared to how utterly joyless Star Trek Picard ended up being.

People who were kids when it aired don't like hearing it, but Voyager was garbage. It was a TNG recycle show made on the cheap for a new network and it showed. Garret Wang wore Brent Spiner's shoes. They recycled TNG effects shots like the Dyson sphere, and re-used rejected TNG scripts.
Yep agreed, it was not the show i was expecting when it first aired, they went to where the Borg were aaannd they wern't there until the last episode of each season lol, i thought it would be a fight for survival but it was just like TOS/TNG flying about but with bad writing, and hardly any Borg! i think there was a reason they introduced 7 of 9 as a main character, no complaints there though lol, it did help the ratings some.

I forgot about Lower Decks. Yeah it is pretty good if easy to dismiss because of the overused art style.

You can tell the writers have a real affection for Trek. And sometimes you’ll hear a joke you recognise from some late 90s Internet forum which makes you wonder if you ever posted alongside them at some point.

She carried the entire series on her back.

Where is the hd remake?! Cancel discovery and put the cash into this. So much better on every level. I bet those sets would look fantastic in hd.

I would fork over large sums of money for an HD rerelease. Anything streaming of DS9 looks so bad on a big 4K TV.

Didn’t Paramount lose money on the TNG conversion? It would partially explain the reluctance to upgrade a less popular Trek.

DS9 is still fucking awesome. Did a rewatch of all classic Trek the last 2 years, and a lot of it still holds up, and DS9 the most. This is the show that made me love Trek instead of just liking it.

It was done right at the start of the decline of physical media. They’d never recoup the cost of doing DS9.

Deep Space 9 is amazing. So many great characters and episodes.

Really liked how long Kira's character arc was handled. She went from annoying ass terrorist bitch to empathetic leader.

Odo sucks.

Bashir and Obrien bffs forever

I know this is a DS9 thread but to hell with it. Trek is great. Just ran into this clip again, and it always makes me hopeful about our future.

But to stay with DS9, I always loved when the show would have fun.
