Tom Brady's Suspension Appeal News

Never trust Brady or Belichick. Look what they did to Bledsoe.

Most of your opinions are shrouded in your own madness, too unintelligible to discern coherent arguments out of them, but what exactly did the Patriots do to Bledsoe?

What the hell was ESPN doing reporting that he was willing to take games?

NFL source lying to ESPN again to manufacturer a pro-NFL story; ESPN reporting whatever the NFL tells them.

I'm not surprised the rumor story was bullshit when it comes to this. The problem is people now know the NFL bullshitted their way to this point so it's not surprising that they continue to try and do it.

They can keep doing it at this point. Only adds to the flames as their ship sinks into the ocean.

In other pats news, I accidentally ruined my sb shirt. Washed it with a pen. It was my current favorite shirt.

I just honestly want to see how bad Jimmy G can sink the franchise.

Prepare for irrelevancy (although I can see Bill working his "magic."

Just be patient, only 7 or 8 more years until Brady retires and then your boy Luck might finally have a chance at beating the Pats! (If he's even still in the league by then.)

From a Yahoo article:

Kessler, as is his way, was often flamboyant and laced his presentation with comic ridiculousness. He noted, for instance, that the footballs were, on average, just 1-2 percentage points underinflated and yet the NFL deemed it a grand conspiracy despite not being able to accurately measure the inflation levels. He likened it to getting pulled over for being 1 mile per hour above the speed limit and asking the police officer how he measured the speed.

"I counted, 'One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi, and I can tell you were 1 mile over,'" Kessler said, role-playing a cop.

Kessler seems pretty awesome.

Then there was this one from Kessler: "No one in the NFL knew anything about Ideal Gas Law, which is surprising because I think I studied that in ninth-grade science class."

Even Berman laughed at that.

We all love Drew Bledsoe, friend.

Might as well post a picture of that Michigan fuck Desmond Howard.

Clearly you didn't actually READ the thread.

You claim to have read the thread but clearly you didn't. Do you think it's weird a federal judge is basically calling the NFL a bunch of idiots or do you suspect he's a pats fan?

Oh, do explain why?

Expect nothing of substance from any of these drive by posts.

I know Kessler was also Bill's spygate lawyer. What else had he done.

The biggest thing he did was help bring free agency to the NFL.
He also helped the Saints players win their appeal during Bounty.
Just recently helped Rice and Peterson win in court.

Basically the NFL hates him with a passion.

People need to realize that this has nothing to do with the Patriots or Brady, it's all about Goodell getting the power to get whatever he wants, to whoever he wants, whenever he wants.

To be specific, it's about Goodell's intense jealously of Brady, as it has been for this entire time. Goodell wishes he could be as successful as Brady, with such a hot wife, but he is incapable, therefore he takes it out on those who are.

Poor Goodell, this whole process has proven what a worthless fool he is. Beholden to the other 31 teams, but ignorant of the one that matters; his time will be over soon.

Let's take a step back here. I'm a Brady supporter but Goodell isn't out to 'get' Brady.

The other owners are. Patriots have been a dynasty for the past 12 years. Anytime there's an opportunity to take them down a notch, they will champion whatever that formula is. Goodell is concerned about his and NFL's image. There's money to be made.

When you have other owners whispering or shouting in Goodell's ears that he has to make an example of the Patriots, he listened. Because he has been under the spotlight, he made a rash decision and this is going to cost him.

Hmm. Spygate was real. Huh, guess this one is a weird exception.

Caveat: he really is an amazing lawyer and bona fide wit.

Haha holy shit, this reminds me of Kenny Powers' "jealous terrorists"

This is what I think too
Goodell is still a tool though

Goodell is just a stooge for the owners. All his punishments are just to make an example. And then when the punishment is overturned he looks like the dumbass, not them.

Same thing here with the other owners wanting to embarrass the Patriots.

Dan Weltz was apparently in the court room at the time and his write up is interesting:

Nash's basic counter was that under the collective bargaining agreement, Goodell has sweeping power and, essentially, even if the system set up is imperfect or objectionable, so what? Goodell, he said, is the arbiter and arbiters make rulings and the court is obligated to respect it no matter the fanfare surrounding the case.

"This is a disputed grievance," Nash argued.

It may be a salient legal point and one that will win the case for the NFL. Berman, though, didn't appear moved by it. The judge repeatedly noted that just because something is collectively bargained doesn't mean it can violate federal law.

Berman also focused on how the NFL came up with the four-game standard, drilling Nash over and over about where this number came from, how much of it was about non-cooperation and how much for the footballs. Kessler argued that the crime was similar to stick 'em on a receiver's hands or any other act like that, which under NFL policy is subject to a four-figure fine for the first offense, not a suspension.

Nash said Goodell decided to liken it to performance-enhancing drugs, which Berman couldn't fathom.

"How is it equal to steroid use?" the judge asked with a tone of disbelief. "How did he pick steroid use?"

"I think the judgment goes to the integrity of the game," Nash defended.

"Everything goes to the integrity of the game," Berman said.

Just read all of that. It's clear why the NFL is never going to settle. This isn't about Tom Brady for them. It's about their right to mete out punishments, and then be the arbitrator in all appeals of those punishments.

Their response to everything the judge said that made their case look incredibly stupid was essentially "The CBA says we can do this."

Apparently ESPN said several times during daily coverage of the trial that the Pats had a history of cheating, even citing the time they filmed the Rams's walk-thru.

They then ran an apology for saying that....when everyone was asleep.

Keep taking those NFL dollars, ESPN.

This is also why the judge can attack the CBA. Just because it was signed between two parties, it does not mean it happened in good faith, or is illegal.

I am so glad I have stopped paying attention to ESPN. They have zero integrity anymore. If they didn't air college football I would be completely done with them.

Yeah ESPN has really shit the bed with their coverage of the situation. Almost zero fact checking the entire time. You would think they had learned their lesson with hour Mort handled things, but no.

Why do you think the general populous is so uninformed? They hear what they want and do not bother researching. They want to be spoon fed.

ESPN has been awful for years. Just thinking back the "journalism" they displayed the year that Tebow had the network by the balls makes me shiver.

Mind you, it was awful before Tebow (or B.T. as we say in the business world).

This is my big concern with the case...that the judge, while hammering the NFL and trying to get them to settle, will rule in favor of the NFL because of the CBA. He will have a long statement about all he things he finds wrong and incorrect with the Well's report and their case, etc. but say he unfortunately has to rule in favor of NFL because the CBA allows Goodell to make this decision, even if it's the wrong one, etc.

From my understanding, the judge can only vacate the whole penalty or uphold it entirely

If the terms of the suspension change is from settlement and I don't see Brady seeking for a suspension in any way

So when are Pats fans going to organize that class-action lawsuit agains the NFL and that stupid report for all of the lies, inconsistencies and false accusations? It would be classic..

BTW, Brady and his lawyers have been VERY transparent about him not admitting any kind of guilt or settling with the NFL for their false claims... it's 0 games or bust for the Brady camp.

I hope Brady gets slapped with maximum of a small fine + 1 game suspension.

Get this over with already.

Seems like this would still set a terrible precedent. One game suspension for not turning over a private cell phone? Can't imagine any player would be happy with that.

It does seem that way.
