Tom Clancy's The Division - Ubisoft + Massive, MMO Open World TPS RPG

I haven't read this whole thread but the game is playable at the show (it's hands off tho), which is pretty amazing they have a build that good looking running already. it's stellar.

"Press ESC to exit full screen mode" is what that says I think

Pretty sure this was running on PC hardware and the dude was just fake playing, happens all the time

Media Player? :|

Well the graphics will probably be downgraded anyway. Doesn't Ubisoft have a history with that sort of thing? Beef up graphics for presentations and then tone it down.

Either way I'm more interested in the gameplay aspect and how the MMO thing works.

I am waiting to see how Watch_Dogs ends up looking.

The first presentation was stunning but some of the later ones less so.

My hopes are up for this seeing as it wont need to be gimped to run on ps3/360.

Downloading the direct feed footage now so I can get a better idea of whats going on.

Then again, Ubi also has a history of pushing some of the most visually remarkable games around. They left the Xbox with Chaos Theory, and really kickstarted the 360 in terms of just about everything (multiplayer, visuals, scope, depth) with GRAW.

So I'm going to hold back on the cynicism a bit.

Weren't you a big fan of Ubisoft's "Haze" featuring Korn?

Guys, could this have been the new Rainbow Six? And then after the Splinter Cell backlash they decided to go with a new title instead of using the Rainbow Six brand?

They already have royally fucked up the other Tom Clancy games, maybe they didn't want to anger fans again. I sure am glad this isn't Rainbow Six, as exciting as this is. I'm still hoping for a classic Rainbow Six (guess what my name stands for) and maybe someday a return to classic Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.

Looking at the direct feed it seems totally possible on the new hardware. Its not as clean as everyone is making it out to be. Multiple levels of DoF are definitely giving it that movie look.

I just think console gamers are not used to decent resolutions.

I thought the same. But there was a Gaffer who reassured me Rainbow Six was still being made.

But yeah, this looks like terrorist Hunt :))))0

Try zooming your browser in to 300% and look at the gif I just posted. The bullets going through the glass looks amazing.

apparently massive designed this engine. they made some great games in the past but how in the hell did they manage such a graphically impressive engine from the ground up? damn swedish people man

The rear-view mirror shattering is a pretty cool detail too, also the one bullet that goes through the car door frame (between the rear windows) after he closes it is nice.

Edit: I just realized I sound obsessed with tiny dumb details. :P

Looks fantastic. It's like Watchdogs without the "we're young and want to resist/fight the government and companies in power, paranoia & shit". I wish they got rid of the XP pop-ups in-game though, players should be able to switch that off. Really kills the immersion, I don't need every game to be like Borderlands, reminding me that I level up because I got this and this kill. Enemy health-bars need to go too, it's unnecessary.

Then why didn't they show it this E3? Come on Ubi I've been waiting for so long :/

I think there was some growing pains. David Sears (Creative Director of Socom 1 and 2) was originally on the project but at some point left as a mutual decision between himself and Ubi. He's currently at another independent studio working on another 3PS. I believe there were other lead staff on the game that are no longer on the project as well.

If this came out on PC, it would have a few million players without a doubt.

Open World, Sandbox style MMO's are what the entire genre is shifting towards. EQnext, World of Darkness, rumours Titan is shifting to more of a sandbox, new semi-mmo from Mojang, Archage, so on and so forth.

Not to mention the popularity of other sandbox style games in Day-Z, Minecraft,
