It must be hard to take a talking down from a man who has to look up to do it.
He and the director literally rented out a private island to get this film finished.
There's impacting the bottom line and then there is trying to save the industry and making sure people have jobs so they can support their families.
His anger here is absolutely justified.
What did they do
We don't even know what they did. Were they standing closer than six feet? Did they have the mask down below their nose? But none of that matters. It's not that Tom was wrong. It was that Tom was talking to them like he was their father instead of an employer. Now maybe your boss talks to you like that and you are ok with it. I'd rather just be fired than let my boss know he can do that and I just take it.Even if you knew he's yelling at you because it's your fault you put the entire project at risk?
If you're not in the wrong, by all means push back, but if you fucked up, take the L and don't make that mistake again.
Actually respect him for this. He didn't make up the Covid regulations, he's not the one stopping things from happening. He just doesn't want the entire fucking production shut down like has happened to so many others.
See I don't buy that the Cruise missile it at the mercy of the governor or whoever shuts him down either. If anything he would be cheering along all this great reset commie crap. The future of the entire movie industry is riding on a few big names this upcoming year... I think the COVID rules are bullshit but if it’s the difference between being employed and your entire industry being destroyed then everybody needs to be at their A-game.
lol i thought he was a nice guy. there is no reason to go off like this. just fire the folks and be calm. no need to throw a hissy fit.
Lame.
His temper is even funnier when you realize he's like 5'4. He says and tells people 5'7 but if you watch films and compare him to actresses, he's definitely shorter than that. He also always wears heels.
This shortguy getting all pepping yelling at adults.
"If I can't deal with you with reason, if you can't be reasonable." says the guy who thinks aliens nuked the volcanos with b52 bombers millions of years ago.
His reasoning is correct, but there is never an excuse to berate people like that. You can earn respect through admiration or fear. It seems Thom uses fear.Nah he's right. One slip up and thousands of dollars are lost

No it’s more like in his mind , he has gone into saviour mode for the movie industry and he personally feels he is responsible for it all."Guys I'm gonna jump off this building without a parachute but if one of you motherfuckers isn't wearing a mask you're endangering me, fucko!"
Nahh dude, there is never an excuse. I understand Tom is a producer and he knows what works on his space, but this was a diva episode. I lead people at my job too, and I know that there are multiple ways to address the negative behavior of teammates without completely demoralizing them in front of others. Tom sees these people as expendable, hence the firing threats, but if he really cared about them as teammates, he would treat them differently. For all we know it was the third time this happened or something, hard to say, but when safety is concerned I've never had a problem with zero tolerance for bullshittery. And if for whatever reason the whole project could get shut down over lapses in protocol, a little verbal ass whooping isn't uncalled for.
I wasn't there and don't know the context but Cruise puts his money where his mouth is, if I had to bet I'd say they deserved a verbal lashing and he gave them another chance to make good on their commitment to the project.
..anyway how do they enforce social distancing in the whole film? What will happen to all the close ranged combat actions? Guess no kissing/hugging/romance either?
I think Tom is just channeling how we all feel about following the dumbass rules.
Tom Cruise makes every movie he is in better simply by being in it
Not a single bad Tom Cruise performance I can think of. GOAT living actor, alongside Matt Damon, for me
I gurantee Cruise breaks the rule in other contexts.
