Tom Cruise goes off on filming crew over not following COVID precautions

I appreciate Tom. Even if he has something to do with people being sacrificed on the altar to thetans, he works harder than any other actor his age.

This seems staged to me though.

Tom Cruise had always been an interesting public figure to me. he's totally nuts for believing in space alien jesus. but at the same time his charm and work ethics is undeniable. after all these years his movies are still entertaining at the very least if not outright great. personally I'm with him on this and from his speech it feels like this is not the first time that he had told the workers before. the only difference is that they finally ran him out of his patience. I mean this is a guy who didn't even get upset when some asswipe pretended to be a reporter and shoot water at his face so I'm pretty sure he's really had it up to here with these people who's not following the guidelines.

on a side note, are we really trying to pile on people being short here? come on man.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Scientology is just way too fucked up for me to not consider Tom a fucked up person highly complicit in rampant child abuse.

But man I do want to like the guy other than that lol

I work in film, props to Tom. Lots of jobs have been effected.

I am currently working on a film shooting in LA. It’s... a very different experience. But I am thankful it’s still able to happen.

And I am going to see all of these films in theatres next fall/winter!

I'd smack the fuck out of that God Damn manlet. Sorry, I refuse to be yelled at like this by ANY person in power.

Great to see that in a scenario where you're the one endangering lives and risking jobs you'll happily get violent when someone responsible points out what you're doing. After all, your pride is more important than any of that petty shit, right? He'd better be diplomatic when pointing out how much of a selfish cunt you're being, or else!

I get he's trying to save jobs with this display of "tough love" but yeah....

lmao you wouldn't do shit, you'll take it like the good employee you are.

I’ve yelled back and gotten in the faces of bosses before

And then you're not just out of one job, but any job, forever.

Either way, you lose.

Also, he's pretty fit, he'd kick your ass.

I should rephrase that, I would never strike someone physically but just get right back in the faces of people who yell at me. From my experience management that screams at people do it because they feel like they can get away with it and I’ve yet to let anyone above me raise their voice at me. A mistake is a mistake, unless you physically hurt someone belittling them does nothing but fill their head with how self important they feel they are.

Apologies, maybe I was a bit harsh in my response then.

This is not some random management dofus.

This is Tom Cruise, the spearhead of a religion that views him as the saviour of the world.

Talking back wouldn't get you anywhere but unemployment.

No, my initial response was just as bad. I’ve had some seriously shit bosses in my past, a couple of which I’ve had constant back and forths with over the way they talked to me as if I’m owned by them and this just gave me flashbacks to them.

And no, I’m not one of those employees who’s just complaining, I’ve had a boss put me in a corner and talk down to me in front of other people before in an attempt to “make me example” which I didn’t let happen because I fired back at him in the middle of it.

His outburst just tells me he’s one of those people.

My initial reaction to this was poor
If Tom's primary motivation is people keeping their jobs because "the man" could shut it all down
Then yeah, he's right to give everybody this little pep talk

Just fucking play ball so you can make money and live
Shit

It's really telling that some of you think your employer can talk to you like that...
It's more telling that you'd rather get fired for being a dumbshit who is jeopardizing the jobs of hundreds of other people rather than get called out on it, learn from it, and move on.

Many people need to be belittled. You'll realize this when you start having to manage or work with others that act like morons without being disciplined.

I’ve been the lead twice in my life and I never resorted to making people feel smaller. The reality is some people get it and some people don’t, those who I’ve let go know exactly the reasons that led up to it but not once did I do what’s on display here to anyone.

He said in his rant that it wasn't the first time it has happened, so no, it probably does call for a harsher tone.

That I can understand. But this blanket talking down to everyone is what bothers me. If you have problem people, deal with them vs this screaming match shit.

I feel that even if it wasn't staged...it was intentionally leaked for publicity.

Really, I totally forgot this movie was being made. Now everyone knows.

I also totally forgot about Top Gun 2. Didn't we get a trailer for that like a year ago?

Cinemas are dead tbh. It's dying as home consoles went to market, no need for arcade unless for the party experience.
Gone are midnight releases and launches when one can download and install digital and play it at exactly midnight.

Arcades - Gone, replaced with home consoles. Party experience only.
Midnight Game launches - Gone, replaced with digital downloads.
Cinemas - Gone, streaming through other popular avenues.
Movie rental stores - Gone, again streaming.

Whatever it is, gone, something can replace it.

The party and community experience is dead thanks to Covid-19. It wakes you up to the most vulnerable businesses as a pandemic can wipe out all that was built.
