This is true, but there is so much bad cgi around, it seems particularly like things that have a lot of action often end up being swirling masses of angles and textures that are just indistinct and blurry. You only notice bad CGI.

OP is right in a way. Tom will go underwater for seven minutes to film a take while the background is a greenscreen. Marvel would blow wind in an actors face and cgi the whole scene including the water.
Sure, but hardly any of the cgi gest films of today manage to build a fraction of thr excitement I get from the great action films of past decades. You only notice bad CGI. You don’t realize how many movies and scenes are using CGI while your thinking it’s practical. Using practical effects is almost a waste of time with the technology we have. Practical effects is mostly marketing hype. The problem is when teams are rushed and are trying to make deadlines.
Hey YouTubers out there, did you figure out if this is real or not? As some of you have noticed, this is a fake video. It is originally from the new trailer for the upcoming "Top Gun 2" with Tom Cruise. In this clip I wanted to show the potential of visual effects in todays feature film industry. What do you think? Shooting practical vs. shooting on a green screen sound stage? Let me know in the comments

What? No way!!!there are tons of VFX in those 2 films LOL
smh
New to Mister Apoc threads, I take it?OP really believes there's no CG in the Mission Impossible films
But OP was right Tom Cruise is king of action moviesI think your tag should be changed from troll to dumb.

I want a Raid 3People don't really watch MCU for the action scenes though. People watch for the character interactions & power displays. The better action sequences in a movie like Winter Soldier pale in comparison to the Raid films. But Winter Soldier is still fun to watch cuz of the characters & set pieces.
All the cg is focused on not making tom look like a 60 years manlet.

Well they’re very inconsistent. Then again comic movies obviously require a lot more CGI then most action movies. So there’s a greater chance there will be some bad shotsWell, it looks like Marvel movies have a shitton of bad CGI then
Still better than any dceu film at least. By god they have awful efffects work.I agree to an extent.
These movies still use a lot of CGI but they do a nice job of balancing it out with a lot of practical effects and stunts too. It's the same as Mad Max Fury Road, it's not that it was all 100% practical but rather a nice mix of both.
Meanwhile the MCU feels like it has little to no practical elements, as someone posted in another thread we are at the point where even a scene of 2 characters talking in a bar is done on a green screen. IMO MCU movies look pretty bad. The MCU has a few standout effects like Thanos but overall I think they look pretty bad.
Video is fake
Cruise really flew that plane.
And the CGI in the video is so bad it hurts
Your post backfired so bad, that it proved OP's point
I remember hearing like 2 years ago when they initially revealed the footage that they are two seaters so its real but someone else was flying.
Please watch Fury Road (or watch it AGAIN) and you might change your mind about this (and yes, I know there is some CGI in Fury Road as well).Using practical effects is almost a waste of time with the technology we have.
