Critic Reviews

But Why Tho? - Kyle Foley - 9 / 10

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 is another example of how to breathe new life into a classic without losing touch with what makes the originals great.

ComingSoon.net - Tyler Treese - 9 / 10

Iron Galaxy has done a great job of recreating some classic stages, creating their own, and really nailing the spirit of these games. Tony Hawk has never looked or played better, and I can't wait to see where the franchise goes from here.
GAMES.CH - Olaf Bleich - German - 87%

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4" certainly impressed in our review and recreates the feel of the game "back in the day." At the same time, it offers more substance, especially in the long run. In addition to a whole host of unlockables, there are many advanced features, including multiplayer and pro options, online leaderboards, and the park editor. These should keep experts entertained for a long time to come.
GameSpot - Mat Paget - 8 / 10

Though it trips up a bit in its Career mode, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 still manages to deliver a marvelous game of skate.
Gameblog - French - 8 / 10

Some remakes simply have the 'money-spinner' label stuck to their foreheads, but Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 exudes passion through every pore. One could argue that it takes too few risks, but that's a small criticism for such a great game. This second update is pure fun. It's pure arcade fun, with an addictive formula, new cards for the first time in 15 successful years, and an abundance of cosmetics to unlock. A must for fans of the franchise.
IGN - Luke Reilly - 8 / 10

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 proves yet again the series' over-the-top skateboarding formula is totally timeless, even if some of the changes to THPS4 miss the mark and the soundtrack has been fumbled.
NintendoWorldReport - Neal Ronaghan - 9 / 10

While the 1+2 remake was excellent, Activision's track record with the series since the mid-2000s has been spotty at best. I'm thrilled that the skateboarding in this game feels just as good as it did 20+ years ago and that this goes beyond just a simple remake, with so many fun and enjoyable post-game challenges that builds off of the foundation. Something is lost in Tony Hawk 4's transition to the 2-minute timer, but I still had a great time saving Painter Neal from the shark in San Francisco. And the quality of the original levels Iron Galaxy made makes me hopeful for the future of the series, whether it leads to a brand new game or an attempt at remaking Tony Hawk's Underground. Regardless of whether or not you bring nostalgic baggage for the format from the fourth game, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is an excellent video game that will keep you kickflipping and reverting to increasingly higher scores for a long time.
Shacknews - Asif Khan - 9 / 10

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is a faithful recreation of two pivotal entries in the franchise's storied history. While some fans may be waiting for remakes of Tony Hawk's Underground, I am happy to finally get my hands on a remake of my favorite game in series history.

expecting this to drop to 79-81 by end of day. changes to 4 and the soundtrack being only 20% classic songs seem to be the biggest issues coming up across the reviews.

Missing most of the original tracks along with gutting the career mode for 4 is beyond bullshit. Its not longer a day one purchase but now I'll wait till it's $5 and maybe get it.

Yeah this is a glorified map pack is it not? Basically just some courses cobbled together without all of the life and charm of the original game(s).

It's not bad but definitely lackluster. You'd be crazy to get this full price imo.

Wait for sale.
I was obsessed with these games as a teen and skateboarder alot myself.

But going back to it as a 37 year old its just a nice novelty to play it for like an hour total. Not worth paying top dollar for novelty.

No career mode for 4? Damn. Went from a definite buy to a maybe when it goes on sale, just for 3 alone.

Looks amazing, have no issue with Tony Hawk and others changing the ODST. It's how we where introduced to so many new tracks as kids and I feel the same will happen again here.

I'm sure some couldn't be redone from licensing alone regardless.

Is this game any good if you never played the originals? wonder if its just a load of memberberries or if its actually an engaging game.

They are arcade skateboarding games. Should be easy enough to figure out if that's something for you. Campaign is to clear as many goals as possible within a time limit. A certain amount of goals completed will progress you further (new maps). Then you can create your own skater and make it better.

There's also free play (no time limit and goals) for the unlocked maps and you can build your own.

3 shoulda being dlc for 1 and 2 and 4 it's own thing with more time in the oven. The soundtrack situation is bizarre, tony hawks soundtracks are iconic and should have got as many as they possibly could. Some of the bands wasn't even asked to have there songs return.

In the same boat.

Wonder what they'll do to Underground, since that one is very much a story/career game. And if this does well they'll have to go with the Underground next. Unless they're going to make a new game from the ground up. But that didn't pan out too well for Crash 4 and Rumble.

Paid $18 for the Deluxe Version on Game Pass, felt like a decent amount to pay for now. Enjoying it quite a bit. I just miss good Tony Hawk games to zone out on and play like I used to 20~ years ago, lol.

really disappointed with the lack of free roaming in THPS4, that was what set the 4th entry apart, as it is now in its remade form, its PSPlus fodder, wont play it until its on the service.

The level design blows 1 and 2 away in these games so I guess that's what's selling it. I'm excited but I barely completed anything in 1+2 honestly other than unlocking all the levels.

I'm still excited to go through these two behemoth games again despite the lack of 4's career mode and the gutting out of the OST.
If it paves the way to a THUG 1 & 2 Remake then I'm all in.

My only real beef with the game so far is that completing a level with one skater, completes it for all. The original THPS 3 had some different goals on each level depending on the skater. I know 1+2 remastered patched in the global career / skater career option, hopefully 3+4 does the same, unless I'm missing it. I've only played for a little bit this morning before heading into work.

Soundtrack changes are a fucking joke.

The cuts are baffling. Why cut these OG bangers with some Spotify trash? Too mainstream or not enough budget?

P.S. I am still buying it and playing those tracks in a side app as I mute most of this junk though.

Licensing can be such a joke. It's so stupid.
