Too Human clocks in at between average and above-average for me, despite how much I've played and enjoyed it. It has a list of flaws as long as my arm, but I've seen far worse games get far better reviews from the same outlets that are slamming Too Human so hard. That's where a lot of the irritation from the people who enjoy is coming from, I think.

Overall, though, the Dyack controversy is just magnifying this thread to an absurd degree. This is pretty much what happens on GAF with every high profile game.

I haven't read a single post in this thread but have to say... I REALLY like this game. It brings out the loot whore in me like no other. It really does add an extra layer to the game for each next item I get that will progress my character forward. The better the gear the better I perform AND they let me add +15% to loot drops which greatly helps my hunger for better gear Right now me and a buddy of mine are playing a commando/defender combo in coop and it simply owns.

Well in his defense that Farnack guy was saying something as stupid as people should not like the game.

I mean i dislike a lot of things but i am am almost always happy when someone manages to enjoy something that i did not but here we have a guy telling us that we should not like something presumably because he or some other people did not like it.

A good lot of what I've seen in this thread, at least in the latter half, is only thinly veiled as civil. It's true that he stepped over the line a bit, but that doesn't make thinly veiled civilities nonexistent.

As far as the people touting the review scores like that gives them all they need to form an opinion of the game, they need to remember that the press tends to follow the climate of their audience. Why else would they give an obviously flawed game like GTA4 10's almost across the board? Because thats what the majority expected and they didn't want to be left out of the GTA4 lovefest.

On the flipside nobody wants to be seen as too lenient on a game most thought was going to crash and burn. Which is why I’m sure they lowballed many of the TH scores.


Im not saying the game deserved 10s, 9s or even a 8. But 5.5 and 6's are just silly.

I still don't get why you are in this thread. All you've done is talk about a game you haven't played past the demo and re-iterated what reviews have said. We've read the reviews. I'm sure the majority of the people that are playing the game have read the reviews or have heard that the game reviewed poorly.

Why does it bother you that some people are enjoying this game? Seriously. You say you are not fine with people liking Too Human. That you want to make sure that the people that are enjoying the game are aware of all the objective problems (whatever that means) that the game has. And you say that time is money and you would only play the game if someone gave it to you for free and gave you a million dollars.

I tried the demo but was really annoyed by the camera. Mapping the right thumbstick as an attack instead of camera control didn't work out as well as I had hoped. The interface wasn't that intuitive either.

Oh well, the game didn't quite click with me (and apparently many others) but I'm glad that some people are enjoying it. Regardless of Dyack's antics.

your opinion that the low scores are fair enough. But discussion of the game - that can go into the "loot/slash thread". This is the review thread.


and one more thing. DYACK's FOR AGAINST thread was about getting this forum to play his game - probably an attempt to push sales. I'm against this now on principle... good review scores might have pushed it to FOR but... on principle, I find myself not wanting to support his game. I did play the demo and thought it was dogshit. When there are reviews out there saying that full retail = demo x 30times. ... I find the negative reviews redemptive and freaking hilarious. Either way, anyone is still entitled to discuss this game based on the reviews + videos + podcasts commenting on the quality of the title. IMO, it sounds like most reviews have cut SK too much slack. Any other title, this would be getting 6.5 across the board.

Plus, there are so many games coming out/out which are better so why would anyone want to spend their money on an average game?
