It gets better in Act 3

I posted the Game Trailers review on 2 other sites I post on. The interest level went from "I'm getting this" to "ew, not.. too many games to buy a lemon..etc" Against. :D

The idiot bringing in MGS4 into this topic - MGS4 has a level of polish that Too Human with its janky graphics, awfyl animation cutscenes, ho-hum gameplay, ugly art could never touch. One is top tier and the other bargain bin at best. MGS4 met the hype. Too Human, built hype on the basis of Dyack's stupid internet shenanigans - and backfired.

*btw what makes cassamina the authorative "reviewer" to comment on other reviewers/reviews? The fact that he mentioned Dyack in his "commentary" -

- SK and DD wanted to make a great game and poured their hearts into it and are crushed by every negative review.
negates it. How many nameless developers without a big mouth idiot have had bad reviews. And no body ever say this. This angle of the Too Human internet saga only developed because of Dyack's ridiculous FUD. fuck him and his studio

:btw EDGE did an England game developement studio write up - and they covered a few studios in manchester (I think it was manchester) - and they then reviewed their game in the same magazine 4/10. This is how you do it. Judge not game, not the "process" or let the "human/personal" side affect it. By all counts, across the board, Too Human is flawed.

Listen to playerone, 1upyours, bombcast - its kind of universal how most of them think its shitty in a lot of places - but I always think that they sort of temper their commentary because of the dyack influence.

But isn't MSG4 one of the greatest games you've ever played?

So wait... Drake has only played the demo and he figures he is informed on this game????

Wow! If the demo didn't grab you that's fine man. But I've personally convinced two of my friends to try the game after they hated the demo and they are both very very hooked.

Fun is fun.

236 games more fun? :lol Sure. I'm positive I would have spent more time with Kung Fu Panda this past week.

And from your post history you didn't like Resident Evil 4 either.
should we take your posts seriously now?

Actually I kinda agree, the beginning of MGS4 didn't do much for me. I kept getting lost actually and didn't find it that engaging. It all turned around for me after fighting octopus chick, only got better from there.

This thread is full of really embarrasing stuff...

Can we at least make a more meaningful comparison than MGS4?
How about NG2?

Denis is a smart man. Just look at all the talk/hype this game has received even with its mediocre reviews. I dont think theres been a game with such low rating that has gotten this much attention in the history of gaming. Dennis knows what he is doing since day 1.:lol

Mediocre reviews or not, the game is gonna rake in the money and thats all that Dennis cares about.

actually, it failed to hit TOP TEN on live so I doubt the sales will be stellar - normally the hardcore xbox commmunity swarms to a game. Most major releases experience this. go check out that xboxlive thread.

Oh I guess we have to give all our hard earned cash to get ripped off by a terrible developer.

Please, the "you can only appreciate it if you buy it!" is old and obnoxious.

bu-bu-but it hasn't come out in Europe yet

Played the demo, thought it was pretty good. If I had inifinite time I would buy it, sadly there are other games I want to play more.

I will say this, when I first got wind of Mr. Dyack's talking about technology and all that I thought it was being rather pretentious, but I give him a pass now because it clearly has a lot to do with the actual game he's trying to pimp and it's not, wholly, superfluous. That is to say, my perception was altered. Is it closer to the reality? /shrug

Yea, I'm not so sure about that either. Hit the local Wally World today and every single copy was gone. Anecdotal evidence aside we shall see in a couple of weeks.

Dude you spend WAY too much time in a thread about a game you don't care for. I can see not liking the game but its like your trying to "save” people from Satan or something.

Too Human is leagues better than any game of its type(loot driven dungeon crawlers) on the nextgen platforms. If you like those types and are just turned off by all of Denis's antics then its your loss. Its not perfect by any means, but it has offered up a new way to control your character and my thumb is VERY grateful.

Touche!

It's the "Too Human is the only celebrity sim hack slash rythm fitness rpg console game!" card.

I am defeated.

Your prize is to play the PC.

You must of missed the "I'd" in my last post. D2 is a great game that Im sad I can never get into. I've started at least 5 times but I just cant use the M&K for gaming. Hopefully Blizzard will find a way to port it to XBLA.

It is. You're right. As old and obnoxious and ragging on you have no intent on playing.

There's only so far the dialogue can go here: Dyack's a doof, the animation is crap, it was overhyped and under-delivered. Something something 10 years something something. You can throw these around easily. No one needs to touch the game to glean these out. Keep that train a'rolling!

But then you throw in some stuff about how you just can't believe that people find something they like here. You can't argue a lot with that point though, since you didn't play the full game. You can make an educated guess based on what you played in the demo, what you've seen online, and what you know about what you like. I'm not sure how interesting or useful that makes your opinion specifically though, in a substantive discussion of the game itself, when you're parrotting third-hand accounts that we've already seen. What's worthwhile about that? Because if you didn't like it based on the above sources, that's really all you've got to contribute: the same old, same old. Where do you buld off of that? Can we talk about whether we prefer the Bio Engineer's middle or right-most tree, cybernetic or human? Will a Defender and a Commando make a good fit on Helheim, when you have to deal with those fat dudes that send out energy pulses? Wasn't that closing shot pretty neat, after some real crappy cinemas!

Ah, that's not what this thread is for anyway. :P

Okay, go buy Lair and Haze or you can't ridicule them.

I didn't, so I don't. :P

You missed the point though. Its not that you can't ridicule them. I thought I was pretty clear saying that you easily can. See the list in my second paragraph? That's your pool. Its just that it won't be very interesting because there's only so many things you can talk about without actually playing. It's kind of boring, isn't it?

Like, I hate the spider enemies you tango with in worlds 2 and 3. Fuck you, SK. Shitty enemies; they're able to knock you down even when you're obviously out of their line of fire. Dumb! Rawr! You wouldn't say that though. :P

I dont have trouble with it. My hand start to ache after 30 minutes or so. I used to play K/M all the time when Quake and Unreal were big.

Also with Diablo it more like you’re ordering your guy around vs controlling him. Hey go get this guy, click. Now this guy, click. After playing PSO which required a small amount of technique, its hard to go back to that. To me TH is like the next step for that style of gameplay.

I had more fun playing the Wall-E demo to be perfectly honest, but that's not saying much.

Denis Dyack himself said that the demo is a great representation of the full game. If I didn't feel the demo, then according to Dyack, I wouldn't like the whole game. Why would I plunk down $60 to play a game where I didn't like the demo, and the dev said the demo is a great representation of the full game? That doesn't make sense.

too human shot itself in the foot by almost completely balancing itself around lvl 50 play. I can really see it in the reviews now that I've played it.

SK should have sent each reviewer a max lvl character so they could see it :lol

I think its worst around level 30. The difficulty, for me at least, seemed to just spike for a stretch and balanced back off after breaking 40. I don't know why, since the enemies still seemed to be scaling the same way.

Projectjustice said:

You haven't seen anything yet. :P

The only thing I dont like about the gameplay is that it feels like there is no weight to my weapons attacks. The guns feel like they are shooting grapes at the enemies. They dont even react to the impacts of my bullets. If it wasnt for the life bar above them, I would think I wasnt doing any damage.

Farnack said:

I will play them both. Someday. I'm a sucker for shooters regardless of their quality ( I kinda liked Turning Point - most recent "bad" shooter I've played). And I imagine someday that I will try Lair out just to see what it is like. I'm open minded that way.

I really, really enjoyed the demo. Spent almost 2 hours last night playing through it, fiddling with my equipment, etc.

I think I'm going to reward myself with the game for finishing my Unix Networking class this week.

Any hope of finding codes for the bonus pre-order armor lying around? Can you buy in on XBLM?

If you can't find yourself a code, its no great loss: the armor looks neat, but is low-level; you'll be switching it out pretty quickly.

Truelize said:

Done the demo because it is free.

If I really feel like it, and money is time, I may play it for free just to find out everything I figured out is true and coinciding with a majority of the reviews.

But really, after second enemy encounter in the demo, the game felt like an unsatisfying chore.

Pimp My Ride 360 is fun.

It is also incredibly absurd, and a bad game.

But it's fun.

Anything can be "fun" if you put your mind to it (I was going to use pounding nails in one's member as an example but I don't really know what that's like). I'm just not sure after playing the demo and watching the lame ending cutscene on youtube I would want to go out, pony up my hard-earned money for a game whose demo I did NOT enjoy, a game that has been critically panned by a large number of magazine/sites, a game that I have to sit down for hours to learn to like and keep telling myself it's "fun". I'm pretty sure there are games out there that are MORE "fun", games that I don't really have to learn to like. For those who are finding the game "fun", good for you because it would really suck to spend 60 bucks on something that you aren't able to enjoy.

I never had to "learn to like" Too Human. I think the game is fun as hell. No, Dyack is not pointing a gun to my head. I legitimately really like the game. I don't get why you can't understand than some people genuinely like the game.

I'm not saying YOU had to learn to like the game, obviously people have different gaming tastes, for ME to like the game it would be difficult because I found just about every aspect of the demo to be pure suck, it's not something I would normally like, I would have to force myself to like it had I spend 60 bucks on it and even then I'm not sure I would be able to like it.

They can like the game all they want, but the point is that the terrible design decisions and the poor quality work are in there.

If you give me a free copy of Too Human and a million dollars, I'll like the game too.

If you don't like it thats fine, but the few saying that people shouldn't like it, is just stupid. If people are enjoying it, why does that matter to anyone.

Why not? The demo was teh suck, and clearly a lot of sites and magazines seem to agree with my assessment, it's not my fault that I was right and all these sites and magazines kept telling me I was right with their reviews. You DO have the official thread if you want to do high fives and show how decked out your baldur really is. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy a game that is poorly put together, but just because you enjoy something doesn't mean it's good.

Saw the ending on youtube, that was teh suck too, saw the grndl fight on youtube, that was totally lame and not clever at all, saw the final boss fight on youtube which was also pretty lame, seriously I'm no game developer, but even I can come up with better ideas on boss patterns and game endings, but hey if you found it fun, you found it fun, I'm not saying you can't or that you shouldn't.
