Likely that people don't care too much that SAO has shallow characters and silly relationships. They just want to play an apparently decent rpg (?) with a ridiculous protagonist and the chance to hang out with waifus.
As for that image macro, I think it's useable in context, yes, but shouldn't be used to 'quiet' well meant criticism.

Not sure if you're referring to me or speaking in general terms but I'm not trying to quiet criticism towards SAO. Plenty of people have explained in depth why they don't like the show but posting that macro was my way of saying 'hey maybe we shouldn't shit on a fan base because they like something we don't'. If I go onto the gaming side and say 'Wii U sold x amount of units this week, what the heck are people thinking/I've lost faith in humanity' I'd probably get a perma ban.

I don't get how things get popular anymore.
Speaking of Jojo, so many manga seem to lose steam as they go on as its clear that their authors planned only so far out in advance (though I understand some of the mitigating factors). The premise can be strong but the author doesn't have the chops to see it through for more than a few years. Why don't more authors do cast reboots like Araki does for the different parts of Jojo? They are all connected but loosely enough that it gives Araki freedom to shake things up a lot between each part. I feel a manga like Naruto and Bleach could have strongly benefited from doing so. Much better than the cast creep that happened for both.
I feel like this is part of the reason why I was able to get into Jojo. The fact there's multiple "parts" helps break up such a long series, yet each one can (for the most part) stand out without much requirement of the previous ones. I barely get into long-running anime/manga unless I'm able to jump on early (I still can't believe I read every chapter of The World God Only Knows), but for some reason, reading parts 4 through 7 didn't feel as much of a chore. Not to mention, like you said, it helps keep things fresh since we can shift focus on different characters & such.
Also who the hell would have the shelf space for some of these long manga? It's bad enough the cost is gonna be $500+ for 50+ volumes, but then you gotta find a place to put them.
Since I'm probably going to get spoiled anyway in these next 8 years I went ahead and looked the last part on the Naruto Wiki.

Not toonami-related but South Park has been pretty bad this season. I wish they would go back to original stories instead of spoofing pop culture weeks or months later.
Yeah the freemium episode was ok but they are going through the motions and episodes run out of steam quickly. Maybe next season they will have some more inspiration.
