I haven't heard many good things about PSTV, from larger website outlets (IGN), to Y2Kev's succinct impressions.

I get not wanting to make games that use the touchscreen compatible, that's a lot of money down the drain but all the other issues with the PS TV (720p, no Netflix/Hulu, PSP games that don't work at all, some Vita games that don't use the touchscreen at all on the blacklist) just makes it more trouble than its worth.
Then again I'm a handheld first kind of guy who doesn't see the point in playing Vita on a larger screen. Screen is plenty big on a Vita anyways.

I guess one could argue it could be used as an easier way of capturing footage & a bigger screen, but honestly, it kind of defeats the purpose of a handheld for me. Super Game Boy was kind of amazing to me as a kid, but then when I got the GBA Player, I barely used it because it felt pointless since I'd just play it on the GBA itself. Though it did come in handy when I was trying to unlock e-Reader content like the Super Mario Bros. 3: Super Mario Advance 4 levels & power-ups.
I have one and I use it for exactly those reasons: to play Vita games on a bigger screen and to be able to capture them. I can also use it to remote play PS4 games if needed.
I really like the Vita system but it's not ergonomic to hold. So, being able to play P4G or Killzone: Mercenary using a DualShock 4 is great.

I own 2 Vita's- a 1000 and a 2000. I'm probably going to sell the 1000 soon, as the form factor of the 2000 makes it enough of an improvement over DAT OLED to be the primary system

I own a billion devices to do Netflix on, that wasn't a dealbreaker
The PSP stuff is what killed it for me. Stuff that works on the Vita doesn't work on this. One of the reasons I bought this was to play Dracula X Chronicles on TV- it's not compatable. There are also tons of Vita games that work on the JPN version, but not on the US version (Lumines, i'm looking at you!)
And as far as Vita games that it does support, it's not really worth it. I played about half an hour of Killzone Mercenary- it looks really rough and moves jerkely (is that a word?), and it just makes me want to buy Killzone PS4 instead.

I could see a use for PS (Vita) TV if you didn't have a Vita and wanted one but didn't think you'd play it anywhere but home, Vita/PS4 stream on the big screen, or you didn't have a device that did streaming
The first two are quite niche as is and the 3rd is pretty much next to impossible as everything streams online video right out of the box. To me, it's a novel idea that will sell miserably to a very small group of people. It'd be great if it did well, but Sony is trying to tap an already over saturated market and while I love my Vita, there aren't a ton of people who share that opinion.

Considering the content, I don't think it'll be much of an issue. One Piece has the best flashbacks and shit always goes down in them.
Not as much as the 5 episode recap that comes after it, I'd wager.
The next 4 episodes are top tier episodes, so I wouldn't worry. Episode 278 in particular is probably in a short list of best episodes in the series (a little unfair, though, as it was an hour special with 277 in its original broadcast, which won't be the case here).
Oh god, I forgot about those. Any chance DeMarco skips them?

i think they might actually be beneficial in this case, though if people will stick around to watch them is anyone's guess. i can't predict an audience that will actually sit through garbage like the last Shippuden episode.
Considering OP started a decent amount into the series, it'll probably help fill some people in. Not to mention, it's been so damn long since I've seen anything relating to the Alabasta arc or earlier, so it'll be kind of a trip down memory lane, but with better voice actors & no censoring stupid stuff.
