Watching the crew size up Renton is pretty funny, because their reasonings are just as childish as those little girls in his school from Ep 1.

They don't know him at all yet, so they just toss out some crappy knee-jerk ideas, and call it a day. Gotta be pretty depressing to see that the people who do all the cool stuff you wanna do... are just as human as the boring people in your boring hometown.

Good idea for a story, though. It puts him in a position to try and learn each one, which, in turn, helps us learn each of them, at the same time.

I also like the fact that Eureka's kids help explain the oddity of her personality; She's a character archetype who normally "knows nothing, but how to fight", but she already has some ideas about life, and beliefs. A lot of that probably comes from her motherly role; it helps her to develop in ways unavailable on the anime battlefield. It's a smart twist.

Shinji didn't need to have a girl holding his hand every step of the way to get shit done.

True. but Shinji only did shit after agnsting over it ore being guilted into it by his pimp father.
Renton getting shit on is one of my favorite things about the show.

Well in Evangelion 2.0
Shinji almost destroyed just to save a girl. He knew this too. He just didn't give a fuck.
Shinji may be a crybaby bitch coward, but he gets shit done when it counts.

Rebuild Shinji is okay...was a boss at the end of the last one.

How many eps until
Father tries to eat Truth
?

That was such a WTF moment, almost reminded me of the first series.

I like how nothing really important happens with the whole "OMG Al's body is taking his soul away!!!1" subplot. Aside from him getting kidnapped here, I suppose.

I guess it's just there to add further urgency to the overall plotline.

I love it when the ending theme starts playing during the last scene of an episode, especially this theme. The way it played when
Ed busts through the portal in Envy and promises Al he'll get his body back
was really good too.

That was a different theme, "Let it Out." Both are fricking awesome and I agree, they really nailed overlapping it with the final seconds of episodes. Great stuff.

I think I like Let it Out more, though. In fact it may be my favorite ED of all time. So good.

Yeah I meant Let it Out. It fit perfectly. It comes second to Shunkan Sentimental imo though. The rush I feel when I hear Shunkan Sentimental beats the beauty of Let it Out. Only slightly though.

They're both so good at what they do. Shunkan is so good at pumping you up which is really important at this point in the anime.

For me, Let it Out transcends the anime itself and is just an uplifting, almost spiritual piece of music all on its own. It doesn't matter how bad or low I'm feeling, one listen of Let it Out and while I won't be right as rain I'll be positive towards the future. The song is uplifting and melancholic all at the same time.

The ED footage that goes with it is just sublime too, easily the tops of any anime. Soooo goooood.

Don't mind me if I watch porn during this questioning.

Lol yeah, wtf.

The answer is yes.

What really? Between this and her almost smanging that 15 year old I don't know what to think.

Give hetero love a chance Motoko. Thousands of fanboys will thank you! (No, I'm not one of them. :p)

Finally got a chance to watch the block (well, at least Bleach through Eureka).

Bleach - Well, by Bleach standards this actually wasn't THAT bad, all things considered. Ulquiorra's release form is fucking stupid, but all the Arrancar releases are stupid looking, so that's nothing new. Ichigo's insistence on DBZ style fighting (i.e. needing to get your ass kicked in normal mode before finally deciding to go Super Saiyan like you should have all along) is always a source of frustration. At least Ishida got to kick somebody's ass. That hasn't happened in a while. Also, Rukia has one of the most powerful zanpakutou's with a shikai that has an AOE insta-freeze attack. Why is she being so stupid and fighting these idiots one by one when she could just shatter the whole lot, and the main Arrancar dude, and be done with it?

Samurai 7 - This entertainer samurai is pretty boss. After a pretty slow first episode this show has been getting better and better. Rather digging it right now. Though that's probably mostly due to Kikuchiyo, who is always fun times.

Cashew Sins - I've grown to really like this show a lot. The tone, the stylish action, the feels, the soul-crushing despair, the constant desire to jump off a balcony and plunge to my doom. Good times. Dune's survival and this new Luna just raise further questions. What is really going on here? Also, what's the deal with Ringo's helmet? Is it because of the Ruin? Or was the grass somehow hazardous to her? Curious.

Eureka seveN - Renton's a good kid who follows his emotions above all us (as is pretty typical of teenagers, especially teenagers experiencing first love). Sometimes that leads to positive actions, sometimes negative. His reaction to getting friend-zoned, however, is pretty hilarious and spot on, even if he is slightly more cartoonishly extroverted about it than normal. Eureka, for her part, continues to distinguish herself from the classic character archetypes you might have expected her to fit. In this episode we see her happy, laughing, telling her giant robot she wants to dance, and displaying her kindhearted and caring side. At the same time she shows some confidence (arrogance?) in herself and reveals just how limited her ability to trust people is. She's definitely unusual and odd, but she's far from the cold and off-putting type you might have otherwise expected. Meanwhile, Holland is revealing more signs of childishness and maybe not quite being as cool as he tries to put on, and most of the rest of Gekkostate finally got to put in an appearance. And we got some pretty sweet action in there and some setup for the future. And Eureka's kids. Eureka's really annoying, bratty (but relatively realistic...for the most part) kids.

These first three episodes were basically Renton living the teenage fantasy. The girl of his dreams dropped out of the sky. His ultimate hero and role model swooped in and offered him everything he ever really wanted. And now he's off on a grand adventure to ride the waves and experience the freedom he never had in his dead end hometown. The next several episodes are about completely shattering that delusion and introducing Renton to adult reality. The end of episode 3 already began that process. Things are only going to get worse before they get better.

FMA and GITS I haven't gotten around to watching my recordings of, but I've seen them enough, so no big deal. I forgot we got a chance to meet the Major's lovers/friends in this episode. :D

As someone who worked on Casshern Sins' English dub, I'm happy to see so many of you enjoying the show! I've been reading all of your comments since Toonami's rebirth and I've forwarded many of my favorites to friends of mine who are still at Funimation.

We worked really hard on making the dub as enjoyable as possible and it's wonderful to see how an individual's initial impressions of a show can change.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all (and now that I have posting privileges, I'll be joining in the conversation as much as I can).

I watched 6-7 eps of the Japanese version* and I have to say, you guys did a fantastic job on the dub. Eric Vale is perfect as Casshern, and the whole show has great voice direction.

(Did you send any of my comments? :p)

*All I could take before wanting to cut myself so I stopped watching. Being in the same boat with ToonamiGAF has made it an easier and more enjoyable watch. :p

Funimation dubs have really improved in the last several years. The Kai dub is night and day from the original DBZ dub, for instance.

They've been hitting them out of the park since 2006-2007 or so, by my estimation. Before that they were good, but them and the competition were about even.

Then again, the competition started dying a few years ago so maybe there's been some kind of reverse talent drain? :p

Awesome! Good to hear you guys are enjoying it. I totally agree that we did an amazing job getting Eric as the Cashew himself but honestly, the entire cast is incredible. I loved working with the actors that I did.

I'm not going to say who I voiced because of reasons, lol. I'm proud of the work that I did but I like keeping it private (that way I'll be able to hear honest feedback). That said, my character's still around for a little while longer so we'll see. :)

PS: Yes Andrex, some of your comments were seen. I recognize your username so that's the only reason I remember, haha.

Yessss! Which comments?

Tell the rest of Funimation that we want YYH on Toonami and don't take no for an answer. ;)

(That actually brings up a point, is Funi paying attention to Toonami much? I would imagine they are, but just want to check...)

The Funimation twitter account sends out a reminder tweet or 2 every Saturday to watch Toonami.

I think they are waiting for FMA to finish off (I have no idea this is just my hope, we need some YYH in that toonami block).
