Far-flung fantasy, I know, but I sure hope Toonami takes a look at Log Horizon and says "That looks like SAO, we'll air that" and unwittingly airs one of the more enjoyable anime I've watched so far in life.

This shit is rad

/edit the best bit is that the main character has basically stood around talking or in the background for like four episodes now and is STILL probably the most badass person on the show. That takes guts

so it has now been explained to me that the likely reason for restarting Naruto is because they've already paid for those first 52 episodes and that's all they can actually afford at the moment, because let's be honest that's literally the only thing that makes actual sense. this is a thought that probably would have occurred to me if it wasn't late as hell. late night essays make you impulsive, so i guess ignore my little petition until we get an answer that will likely be this and i will look incredibly silly. you still love me right, ToonamiGAF?

here is the English cast of Space Dandy:

Dandy - Ian Sinclair (Toriko - Toriko, Robber A - Dragon Ball Z Movie 13: Wrath of the Dragon)
QT - Alison Viktorin (Conan Edogawa - Case Closed)
Meow - Joel McDonald (Takumi Fujiwara - Initial D, Kilik (the black kid with glasses) - Soul Eater)
Dr. Gel - J. Michael Tatum (Scar - FMA Brotherhood, Eneru - One Piece, Okabe - Steins;Gate, Sold His Wife - Samurai 7)
Bea - Micah Solusod (Soul - Soul Eater)
Perry - Kent Williams (Father - FMA Brotherhood, Dr. Gero - DBZ, Captain Kuro - One Piece, That Cat - Darker Than Black)
Honey - Alexis Tipton (uh.....)
Scarlet - Colleen Clinkenbeard (Riza Hawkeye - FMA, G cup - Deadman Wonderland)
Narrator - R. Bruce Elliott (Kambei - Samurai 7, Richard Moore - Case Closed)

(if you guys can help me with who Ian Sinclair, Joel McDonald, and Alexis Tipton play that'd be great)

Ian Sinclair has been getting work lately. I haven't heard much from him, but his Brook is very spot on.

I imagine Dandy will be a different beast though. How is his Toriko?

I'm sure Viz saw an opportunity to keep both shows on the air and took it.

Now Toonami is nicely divided between new and old, which I'm fine with.

Demarco explains on twitter what's happening:

"#toonami fans, so I'm not doing this all day: we were allowed by partners to extend our ORIGINAL Naruto deal (52 eps) for a second run.

Continuing from where we left off would have been prohibitively expensive. Basically, it was get Shuppuden/re-run Naruto or continue...

…with new Naruto eps, but NO Shippuden. The choice was clear. That's the first and last time I'll deal with that here so please do not ask.

IN SHORT: You can't have it all, and neither can we. But I certainly think 3 solid hours of premieres is a good way to kick off the year. "

He also says Toonami 2.0 is way beyond where he expected it to be by this point which in encouraging news to say the least :)

So not Franky but somebody else on One Piece. I knew Patrick Seitz wasn't a good fit. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy's work, but I just didn't see it. Glad to see my boy Ian Sinclair is getting some more high profile work. Also, looks like Clone Wars isn't doing hot enough for them to keep it early in the lineup. Sad for you, good for me. Another rerun of Naruto kinda sucks though. I'll miss having two episodes of Inuyasha every week. One of my most favorite parts of the block. Oh well. You gotta do what you gotta do.

As much as I think the next 75ish canon episodes > all of Shippuden I understand and like the decision they made. Sad to lose a second slot of InuYasha for it though :(

Guess 4.5 and 5 can be nap time or play a game time

3:00 will be a break slot for me I guess.

Once we get to land of waves I'm pretty much okay with Naruto rerewatch. It should certainly do well ratings wise that hour with brotherhood.

Oh. I guess I suck at time zones. Whoo! Dub beats all. I guess you could say the English is the original and the Japanese version is the dub. Time to act all snobby and superior about how the original audio was better.

And go to anime gaf and post our impressions of the episode and tease how awesome it'll be

It sucks that they won't finish Part 1 of Naruto, but I can understand why.

Also, Alexis Tipton is relatively new to voice acting. The one role I recognize her in is the FMA movie that is going to air on Toonami.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Space Dandy cast announced? Nice.
Ian Sinclair is a pretty good choice. I imagine he'll be using his Toriko voice, not his Brook voice.

Here's Alexis Tipton: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_Tipton

A shame there's no Steve Blum, but he can't work for Funimation so I guess that's understandable.

Like full on "Hi, I'm Luffy" or random Luffy cameo in the background.

Sidenote: That does seem like the voice Sinclair will be using.

Full-on One Piece crossover. Toei wanted Toriko to be the next big thing so they put it before One Piece and had the first episode be a crossover.
Due to rights issues, Funimation can't dub or even simulcast these episodes. Which is strange since they own the rights to both but whatever.

However, Toriko didn't exactly become the "next big thing" that Toei (and by extension Shueisha) wanted it to be. It's popular sure, but it's not doing as well as One Piece, Naruto or Kuroko's Basketball.

Oh wow. So not even a small role but instead a full-on crossover.

The dream is....deferred.

I'm actually ok with this because I do like the beginning of Naruto and missed most of it this time around.

That last hour before Inuyasha though.....

Inuyasha GAF got hit really hard by this. Not only do you have to sit through IGPX but one of your slots has been eaten up to make way for a Jar Jar Binks episode (probably not but *aizensmirk* if true). At least we will be through band of 7 and still be finished by the end of the year.

Hunter x Hunter had 2 new chapters this year and still sold 4 million. Dat anime power.

What happened to FMA's author new project (besides Silver Spoon)?

*edit* Damn double post...uh TWITCH

Full Jan 4th Lineup
11:30p – Space Dandy
12:00a – Bleach
12:30a – Naruto: Shippuden
1:00a – One Piece
1:30a – Soul Eater
2:00a – Sword Art Online
2:30a – FLCL
3:00a – Uncut Naruto - Starting over at ep 1!
3:30a – Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
4:00a – Ghost in the Shell: SAC
4:30a – IGPX
5:00a – Star Wars Clone Wars
5:30a - Inuyasha

My prayers have been answered, Clone Wars is being pushed back!

I don't know what that is.
You should check it out

Series about a kid who goes to an elite cooking school, where everything is determined by your skills as a chef. The cooking in the series is so good in canon people have food orgasms where we get lewd images of them orgasming to the taste. The main character wishes to surpass his father and beat his dad in a cooking battle. It's really really good

I mean, it's a manga about cooking and stuff. It was never going to be popular.
It's a shame cause once you get past it's goofy premise the series is really good. The issue is most people don't stick with the series and give up on it before the concept hits its stride. It's basically monster hunter the manga.

It's still going, don't think a volume has been released yet so theres no way to know if its popular. Few mangafers are reading it

Moving Clone Wars back was unexpected. It seemed to be doing well enough, and actually had more viewers than FLCL and IGPX before it several times.

I guess they figure 'Naruto' will be more successful in that slot, and having 'Naruto' there is more cost effective than not having there and keeping two Inuyasha episodes?

Togashi doesn't even bother to release a chapter and he still makes it into the top 10 selling mangas of the year.

at this rate he can continue to play dragon quest on his ios everywhere forever.

Shokugeki no Soma says hello.

but isn't that less popular then toriko and I doubt anyone reads that for it food aspect but for it's fanservices.

That's because it's new and has no anime, Its consistently one of the highest rated manga in jump alongside one piece and assassination classroom. Once it gets it's anime it'll do way better then Toriko.

Maybe they think like InuYasha more Star Wars fans will be willing to wake up early to see clone wars then stay up late.

Fact's are what matter not what may or may not happen, the fact is Toriko is more popular, sells more mangas & merchandise and is constantly one of the top 10 rated animes on japanese tv each week.

No one is denying the series isn't popular, but it is no where near the level of one piece, naruto, hunter x hunter, peak bleach, etc. Right now it's a solid second tier series in terms of popularity thanks in part to the massive push it gets. It airs after one piece which helps its ratings a lot, it gets advertised constantly alongside One Piece and recently even DBZ in both the 3 way crossover and in the cross over fighter.

Yes it's speculation on mine and others parts, but it looks like SnS will become more popular and sell better then Toriko in the future. Not every new manga series can explode the way Sakamoto Desu Ga did afterall lol

I'm not seeing SnS being as popular as Toriko, and I'm a big fan of both. I just can't see a manga just about cooking and tits being more popular than a popular fighting shonen with mass marketing by it's company. Anime's also have alot to do with marketing and I suspect with whoever does the anime, if there is one, will have to tone down alot of the smut or it will have to go on late night TV, which does not get near the amount of viewers Toriko does at it's time slot.

It's actually legit good! We used to call it Food Smut, but a few months ago restored it to it's actual title because it's more than just some orgasims.

There has been so much effort put behind Toriko, for so little in results. They want it to be the next Naruto/One Piece/Bleach, and it's never going to happen. I wonder what would happen to an already popular series, like Assassination Classroom, if the Jump editiors moved all the Toriko money onto it.

Toriko's old-school style art hurts it alot- I can't read it. SnS, on the other hand, is drawn by someone who clearly has plenty of porn experience

So.....foodservice?
*crickets chirping*

Sounds rather silly, yet fun. If I remember, I'll have to start reading it once I've got free time from studying.
