Top PS4/PS Vita firmware ideas from PlayStation "Share" website

- Multiple accounts on PS Vita
- Ability to change User ID

Those are my top requested features. Nice to see them on the list and on top positions.

Has Sony ever hinted anything that multiple accounts might even be a consideration? I'm not really optimistic about that.
Last thing I read to changing User ID was the 'not impossible but problematic' comment from Shu Yoshida. So at least a chance, I assume.

That's a weak argument, you can have multiple accounts on iOS and Android. It's anti-consumer. Simple as.

That's how PC operating systems work. Console operating systems do not work the same way. While they wouldn't be writing the OS completely from scratch, porting over code from the PS3 OS to the PS4 OS wouldn't be a drag and drop or trivial affair, especially since the underlying hardware is completely different. And by completely, I'm talking about starting with the fact that the PS3 was PowerPC and the PS4 was x86. Apple basically had to rewrite their OS and programs when they made that switch as well. They're basically rewriting most of their programs and functionality.

How can they engineer it to work for the Vita but not the PS4?

Mostly because vita is older.

Also because japanese simply suck at coding compare to west.

What the hell with Vita no.1, no.2 should be the priority there..

Currently as a vita ps3 owner, i refuse to buy ps+ as the content for asia are really really bad.. Would have instantly bought US ps+ If they allow account switching..

Personally I'd like them to let me write native c++ code (without having to become a registered developer and purchase a dev kit) on the vita instead of the awful PSM implementation which runs painfully slow and is extremely limited.

How long can they seriously stall on PS4s number one? Media playback of AVI files and MP3s can be done by low budget mobile phones.

"its a pure gaming machine first" doesnt fly when Netflix et al are being pimped and a five year old phone coupled with your predecessor the PS3 can bloody do it.

Yeah I'm not exactly sure what else they could do with the Vita firmware, it's very complete.

Though the YouTube app has been stuttering on certain videos for me recently, that could use an update.

1. Fix the download list. This is embarrassing for Sony, I swear
2. Fix PSN game sorting. PS1 Classics should not be labelled as "PS3/PSP/PS Vita" games. I know what consoles can play them, it messes up my searches in the store. Tag everything as what it is.
3. Let me play physical PS1 and PS2 games on PS4. At the very LEAST play the PSN versions that I have bought. But really they should let me play discs.

So wait, the PS4 *STILL* does not support pause/resume download? So if, say, my Internet got down on 29.99 GB for a 30 GB game I need to redownload it from the very beginning?

No, it would carry on. People just want to be able to prioritise multiple downloads themselves.

Not directly console-focused, but I want a wishlist on the store, filter options for games and price watches. The last won't happen but the first 2 are no-brainers.

PS3/4 as a media player should have happened ages ago. A lot of untapped potential there but I don't see them implementing it - for obvious reasons.

Multiple Vita accounts should be Sony's priority. I have around 50 PS+ Vita games that are just sitting there, since account with PS+ is not my main profile and so I can't use them at all.

I'm fully aware of how PC OS's work. I'm saying a new OS shouldn't grant a company the privilege of starting from scratch feature-wise. If you're going to restart, you have to make sure your new OS is as competent as your last one, regardless of what is going on inside the console.

Ability to change PSN ID should have happened like yesterday. By yesterday I mean 2006.

Nice to see that it's at the top of the PSN list though.

Man, reading through that OP list I realize how much better is XO's UI. Mosf of the stuff is already implemented.

I find the lack of options regarding downloads quite baffling, I spent 3 ou 4 minutes looking for it the other night, only to google it and find out that it's completely missing. I guess that's my top request.

Every single one of these things, plus local PS 1 and 2 emulation on PS4, needs to happen yesterday. I realize these things take time but there's no reason they shouldn't happen.

Am I the only one struggling with Parental Controls?

I set up a sub-account for my son. Mine is password protected. I want to limit the games he has access to on his account to ones with "Level 4" or below. When I do this, it limits access on both accounts.

not just prioritize, just being able to pause them would be great;

lets say I'm halfway through a large download (30GB), I'd like to play battlefield 4 or something online; can't stop the download, so I'm getting one bar on the BF servers :(

not to mention my connection speed is terrible, so that would be about a week of not being able to play online since downloads can't be paused, only deleted.

I wish Sony did something like Microsoft with hour tacking and Nintendo with Log Activity. It seems like something so minuscule to create but I always find pretty interesting. The system already knows which game you're booting up, it's not much more to take note of it. Or they could just open up their API again so websites could make their own tracking instead of being paranoid.

Suspend/resume is a confirmed feature coming to the system though, it being a suggestion on this site is just redundant and not needed.
