Toriyama's new game unveiling in 2015

LOL

Absolutely hilarious.

Had no idea this happened at all xD

Wada's dope..I feel like it was his idea.

Trolliyama loves to party or at least be there promoting his games.haha

speaking of trolls, look who's next to him.

I hope it's a new IP. Preferably on consoles. Really looking forward to whatever's next from him.

I think he does a lot of things really well, so I hope people give his next project a chance. A new IP would make it easier for people to appreciate I believe, because respecting and sticking to a franchise's strengths doesn't seem to be one of his priorities (for better or for worse).

.

That's actually a cool pic.At least it seems to be with fans/people who will actually play or care about the game.

Unlike the Maxim shit...Yuck.

Hashimoto's actually cool. For every troll there's usually something great that follows it.

I miss huge dumb launch parties that games used to have.(I think titanfall had one recently actually)Such a waste of money. Gotta love that Mark Cerny was there ballin.

Given that game development is struggling these days, its actually kinda gross to see that waste when you know these aren't people who remotely care about the games.

Didn't FF13 sell less with each iteration, with LR selling terribly overall?
I hope you're wrong, considering how absolutely terrible the trilogy has been.

At last guesstimate, LR was over a million in sales WW and it was always intended as a finale. Coupled with the FFXHD success and the nice profit margin they had during the early part of the year, I'd say they were happy with him.

Considering XIII-2 and LR were practically shovelware compared to mainline FFs I would say the profits margins were huge, so overall the FFXIII project has been a moderate success, at least in financial terms. It sold better than XII and had an equally problematic development, so in the mind of the execs "FFXIII things good, FFXII things bad".

Yes, it's sad.

I feel like whenever you bring this up, Kagari comes in and tells you you're wrong.

I think Lightning was a character with potential at some point, but what he did with her was creepy. Especially "lightning returns" (what a stupid name) was easily one of the worst games I played.

If she has an actual number with sources, I'd certainly defer to those. All we know is (PS3 and xbox combined) around 400k in Japan (from Media Create), around 180k first month in USA, and that it opened in the top five in most countries WW (NPD threads). Beyond that its hard to say.
SE has never publicly said they were disappointed with the sales of the title so its hard to say with any certainty. That being said, Toriyama does make money with his games and that's why he is still here.

Maybe it's really FFX-3 based on Nojima's brilliant work of literature! Just imagine Tidus' head exploding in a glorious CGI scene!

Yeah it is but it was always fun seeing games try to legitimize themselves.

The truth is, FF 13's biggest problem by far was its narrative and characters. I thought the paradigm system was actually quite a lot of fun and a great way to leverage turn based sensibilities in a real time capacity. But the story and characters were so bad it ruined the whole game.

If Toriyama's next game has a different writer - someone with actual writing talent, I'd consider it for sure.
