Hello Forgotten Ones,

We’ve been having a good run at the final stretch goal and saw some real spikes and increased activity far beyond what we’d normally expect from our PayPal pledges at this stage. Thanks to all of you for your effort in rallying to the cause! However, it’s looking really unlikely we’ll make the $4.5M stretch goal, with our current PayPal total being $239,438, which means our total money raised so far is $4,428,365, with only two days left to reach the stretch goal.

But! Our percentage of dropped pledges was way below our estimates, proving yet again that you guys rock! As you may recall, our Lead Tormenter Brian Fargo and superfan Steven Dengler matched pledges between $1M and $3M, adding a total of $200K. That money was set aside primarily against failed pledges, but because of your dedication, we can apply enough of it toward our budget – combined with the PayPal totals – so as to have reached $4.5 million.

Which means? We made it! Because you guys are so awesome (and because Fargo and Dengler and are so awesome) we can implement every single one of our stretch goals, including not just the player “stronghold” but also our ideas for expanded reactivity, length and depth, pursuing some of our crazier ideas concerning choice and consequence. As we outlined in update 19, while the classic “stronghold” concept might not fit this game the potential is there to do some really interesting things to tie it into our theme of legacy and the unique weirdness of the Ninth World. Colin’s been hard at work hashing out the overall plot as well as resurrecting and moving forward with ideas we had for features such as the stronghold, and he’s come up with some pretty great ones.

Thanks to all of you, we can now make those ideas happen. Thank you!

So we didn't actually hit 4.5m but the percentage of dropped pledges turned out less than expected
and decided to count the 200k towards the last stretch goal. Hurray!

I didn't even know they were still raising money.

But I kind of feel like they felt obligated to do this, after Larian said they were going to implement their last stretch goal despite (initially) being a bit short, InExile would kind of look like dicks if they said "yeah, you guys got close... but too bad."

Honestly that 4.5m stretch goal didn't matter much to me, but good news for those who are interested in that.

By the way, does anybody know if Nils Hamm is involved with more than concept art for the game? I really love his artistic style.

While I never really cared myself whether or not we reached this goal, kudos to inXile for allowing it after the community got so close. Good form. Hope it ends up being a cool addition

Really great news, and really great on inXile for handling it the way they did.

I remember Fallout 2 clothing options. When you go to Vault city you have several option to get into city:

1. bribe
2. scare dude
3. kill dude
4. steal
5. do mission for him
6. You can just take off armor and show him your vault 13 shirt and he will grant you pass, same with mayor of that town.

Fallout 2 with INT 1 or 2 is still one of the best games ever made.

Also it is awesome that you can be rude/dick almost to anyone. I miss that in Obsidian games a lot. But that is problem more with VO cost than design.

To be honest, I don't mind dialogue heavy games to be mainly text. I can read way faster than the voice acting, and properly written dialogue makes perfect sense without a dude acting (books, maybe you've heard of them?).

Yeah, I can understand to an extent doing this with something like a JRPG that's mainly a linear story and sometimes can stand to be forcibly concise, but in games that were all about dynamic choices it's ended up more a constraint than an actual advancement. Probably another example of how competing in the AAA ring is toxic unless you have a concept that demands AAA value AND you can get it.

I doubt it'll have any new info though, but here's to hoping!
Oh and trab, I'm pretty sure we got dev confirmation of beards being in the game - so it really does have everything you could ever think of!
