Urban Eatery inside the Eaton's Center is the shit.

When I read about it, I thought it was going to be a glorified food court. And I was right, but not as negatively as I had initially put it.

It's actually awesome eating with stainless steel utensils instead of shitty plastic ones. Same with the plates. Only problem I have is it's hard to find seats on weekends, but that's pretty much how it's been since it opened, even before in the old food court.

EvilMario

Will QA for food.
It's just a food court, but it's a nice food court. The amount of people I usually find in there though make it seem like some sort of under sized high school cafeteria and people are still pigs in food courts. :p

Considering I eat there at least three times a week, it's nice that it has a bit better food than the average food court. Finding a seat can be difficult if you aren't early (or late) enough, but it's way better than it was at the old one.

I feel like Super Mario today!

Oh man, the cherry beach party was insane. I was there for 12 hours. Got pretty tan too.

Was it all minimal house and techno music? I like the atmosphere at those beach parties but the music is so boring on the times I went.

I wish they would play more music like your username!

:)

It was fairly minimal at the beginning, then got heavier/dirtier as the night progressed. It is gonna be every sunday - weather permitting - should check one or two out.

I've loved the Cherry Beach parties for years. Most times it's a chill Sunday. Sometimes however it becomes a filthy, heathen debauch!

Toronto in the 70s

Saw this on Twitter. You need to start at page 190 and it goes to page 216. Interesting read and some great pics. I don't think this will go against Gaf's scan policy. I'll remove it otherwise. I don't think you can pick up this issue anymore.

The 407 East extension was finally approved today and it'll be owned by the Ontario Government and should be open to Harmony in Oshawa by the end of 2015. They also approved the North-South link connecting the 407 to the 401 along a route east of Lake Ridge in Whitby. There's also more that's supposed to take it even further East by the end of 2020. How long after it's built will Hudak start the pressure to sell it?

As the city commemorates the War of 1812 Bicentennial, Doors Open Toronto 2012 looks back over the past 200 years to reveal the fascinating personalities who shaped Toronto's architecture and history. More than 135 architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings will open their doors for the weekend and highlight the people who built our city. All for free!

List of all the buildings: http://wx.toronto.ca/inter/culture/doorsopen.nsf/BuildingsAll?OpenView&count=999

There are even some apps that will show you the closest buildings to where you are.

It's still a food court so it's still awful.

Exactly what I was thinking. Although I avoid all malls at any cost. It would take an emergency to force myself to go to one.

Seeing the city half built feels so strange

I have to quote this one more time because I just realized we are looking at the city half built *right now*

Here is a list of the tallest skyscrapers in Toronto:

http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?cityID=12

Any building with a blue or green dot next to it is either under construction now or proposed and waiting to start construction.
It looks like about 80% of that list is being built right now which is really crazy to think about.

Toronto and Mississauga are gonna look so different in the next 5-10 years. I could look at archive photos for days nonstop, so cool!

I finally might be moving into the city. Contract discussion for my new job on Monday.

Now I have no excuse to miss the TO GAF meet-ups! Whopee!

Because, lacc-cross?

That's a very solid argument right there. So solid it's like...wow, I have no idea how anyone could possibly have thought of it any other way.

I'm a Leafs fan as much as the next Torontonian, but seriously, have we got so good at losing we don't know what to do with ourselves when one of our teams wins?

The Rock count more than a farm team league. :p (also, having been to both Rock and Marlies playoff games, the Rock has better attendance)

Nuh-uh this farm team is the farm team of the great TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS! You watch your words kind sir.

I actualy agree with you, every Rock game I've been to is sensational with a fantastic atmosphere
