Touch!(ing) New Nintendogs Commercial

So only showing 20something year old females in the comercial means they are the only people who will notice the comercial? :lol

Did I say that? Of course not.
It just seems the seriousness is too far out of reach of younger girls and the fact that a woman (not scantily clad) is in a house alone "connecting" with her virtual pup will keep a majority of guys from noticing.

The ad seems clearly aimed at older females.

definately not geared towards males, but thats to be expected because it isn't much of a game. Can you see most guys playing something like this for more than a few minutes and NOT getting bored?

dunno, I am not interested in this game, but I can see why others are.

I was thinking a game like this would rock with next-generation eyetoy. Imagine your dog being able to interact with your room, walk around it, interact with you, you could pet it "for real", see it's realistically modelled fur ruffle when you do so etc. Teach it tricks as you would a real dog. A next gen system could do a very realistic pup in terms of physical modelling, graphics and AI, and add in a 3d camera. It really would be the closest thing to a real dog. Imagine your virtual dog interacting with your real dog :lol

That would just open it up to even more ridicule ;)

I think it'd be neat. You wouldn't necessarily have to do just dogs. You could throw in some more fantastical animals that you could never really keep at home (like...say....a tiger. or a monkey. maybe a flying creature). I'd love to make a game like that :)

If they were feeling generous, they could integrate it with the console's dashboard. You get it for free, can download new ones etc. When you turn on the system, you get a view of your room, mapped as a 3d environment into the console, and your little pet would be playing around in there.

Certainly, virtual pets would map easily to the idea of mapping the real world into the game with a 3D camera. And the argument of "why?? get a real pet!" could be offset by the inclusion of different creatures beyond the norm. It needs to be done!
