BvS in 4k already looks absolutely spectacular so im looking forward to this. I dont know how i feel about this 4:3 aspect ratio bs, but i have an OLED and i cant see the black bars at night in a dark room so i think it will be fine.

Man I've bought this movie like 3 times already lol. Looks like I'll be buying it a 4th 😂. This will be the first time in 4k though.

So you can’t watch any film that predates 1953?
Not the same aspect ratio. This aspect ratio is specifically for IMAX. Pre-widescreen TVs, had no problem with widescreen. Black bars on top and bottom never bothered me. IMAX aspect ratio at home, just feels off. I can’t think of any other film that has been released in this aspect ratio at home, so not like anyone’s had time to get used to it.

I’m sure it’s just purely psychological right now. Brain is trained, so seeing the sides cut off makes me feel like the movies cut off, just like everyone did when widescreen first came out. Sure I’ll get used to it, but honestly, I don’t see anything outside of BvS and JL using it.

I think I need some side-by-sides because that trailer didn't look fundamentally different, color/quality-wise.

The Grand Budapest Hotel used the 4:3 aspect ratio. Kill Bill Volume 2 used the 4:3 aspect ratio for the buried alive scene, and there is both the VVitch and The Lighthouse that don’t use the 4:3 aspect ratio they both use a square like aspect ratio of 1.66:1 and 1.19:1 respectively.

There’s also a blu-ray boxset of The Dark Knight trilogy that perseveres the original 4:3 aspect ratio for IMAX scenes, instead of using 16:9 to simulate IMAX scenes which both the standard blu-ray and 4K disc use.

Well I’m gonna have to get that. I dig the extended cut of this movie and am down for this version easy.
Me too studio duckers ruined the dudes reputation: he makes long movies. This and the extended cut of Watchmen are two of my favorite superhero films of all time whereas the theatrical cuts are nonsense.

It's like DC\WB saw all the money consoles were making re-releasing old content and were like "Hey that's not a bad idea..."

1.43:1 is not the same as 4:3. It’s nice that it captures the same width as a g16:9 format but more height which is why it has to have the side bars. Most IMAX movies get their ratio upped to 16:9 and they chop off the sides a bit so the screen is filled but we unknowingly lost just a bit.

Again, I’ll get used to it, but I highly doubt you ever see any movies outside of Snyder’s use this ratio.

One of The dumbest thing in this movie was how the bat brand was as death sentence. Why exactly? Surely anyone seeing this would think you got your ass handed to you by Batman and then arrested.

The extended cut shows the Russian guy personally asks inmates to kill the branded ones, so it's a Luthor plan.
The real question is why the fuck is Batman even branding them?

Because movie Batman always has Machine Guns, Rockets and Bombs in his vehicles.
The Batmobile in Arkham Knight also turns into a fucking tank.

Not always. It sounds like Battison will be the first who actually doesn't kill based on the inspiration behind the movie.

its not. Lex just uses it to make it seem like it is. To get Superman to think that batman was giving these guys a death sentence without getting his hands dirty.

Looking forward to this movie, Pattinson can be a great actor when given good material. The newer Ape movies were fantastic. So 🤞

Reeves specifically cited Ego as an inspiration for the movie at FanDome:
"I wanted to get into the mindset of the character, and I wanted to think of the psychology," he explained. "For me, I think one of the cool deep dive ones was Ego. He's confronting the beast that is Batman and it's that kind of duality. There's a lot in what it's trying to do in the story about him confronting the shadow side of himself and the degree to which you have self knowledge."

"You're able to understand his motivations, but Batman [is broken] and why he's doing all of these things for the reasons that he thinks is right and that have a heroic sort of grounding in them," Reeves continued. "There's also many things that are driven by the parts of himself he doesn't yet know, and so I would say that that kind of sort of psychological union, that sort of version is very much connected to the vision from Darwyn Cooke's Ego."

Half the time I don’t even notice a film isn’t 16:9, I just watch it. When Wandavision changed ratio it was the first time I realised it wasn’t 16:9 the entire time.

Whatever is best for the frame is fine by me, and cutting frames down to fit a different ratio is never ever positive. Things are shot to fit the frame they’re filmed in.
