Trails of Cold Steel (Sen no Kiseki) getting Limited Edition

I've yet to see a time where they announced a CE for a game and that game didn't release within 2-3 months of said announcement. This is probably the last game anyone should worry about when it comes to whether it will make this year or not.

Well, Holiday 2015 would be *Winter*, wouldn't it? That's a delay.

Depends on if Xseed considers Thanksgiving to be a holiday (which most companies in the US do), because that's only a little over a week after the current date listed. It's also pretty common to look at any time between Thanksgiving and New Years as being a "holiday" when it comes to shopping here.

I'm conflicted on which system to pick it up for...

Well, I have a PSTV and it's not exactly a huge graphical difference, so what the hey, Vita LE it is.

Haven't played a Legend of Heroes game since a Tear of Vermillion for PSP, but I'm thinking of trying this one.

The Bandai localizations were ridiculous. They had an absolutely unintelligible translation and they even fucked with the combat system to a large degree. 3, 4 and 5 probably won't be properly localized ever.

Kind of surprised they haven't been fan translated yet. Well, it's bound to happen sooner or later.

I think I recall reading the Vita version running a bit worse than the PS3 version, if anyone who's played the JP version cares to elaborate. I know the game got a patch to mak the performance better so I don't know if there were still performance differences afterward.

Hmm I'm hoping someone could weigh in.

In the comments they admitted CS would be out first.

Edit: couldn't work out how to post the image but on Facebook they posted an image with SC and Cold Steel both saying "Fall 2015"

What's CS?

Yeah sorry, I wasn't very clear. You can tell I'm normally more of a lurker.

I just thought this might be the first instant where they'd admitted publicly that CS was going to be out before SC.

I think it is, but honestly, we all saw that coming.
It's so sad how they never delay their console projects, but PC releases usually have terrible delays. Makes me feel like a second-class citizen.

I am not getting CS until SC is out, so I guess I'll be able getting CS cheaper later. I am already sore enough them skipping multiple titles, but I don't feel comfortable going from FC all the way to CS. FC barely opens up the world and what is going on.

eh, I don't know what other PC releases you're thinking of, but SC is a special case, to be sure.

Corpse Party PC was announced in June 5th 2014 for a 2014 release.
Corpse Party Blood Drive was announced in May 29th 2015 for a 2015 release.
Corpse Party Blood Drive will come out *before* Corpse Party PC.

That's because of SC's delay, they only have one PC programmer and she is stuck dealing with SC's nightmare.

God, I love XSEED, but their lives must be hell. I'll support the shit out of all these games when they're released.

To be fair, SC is a weird case. It's not like they've just let it sit and wait while they work on other stuff. They've given us regular localization updates. That game is just a mess that seems to actively resit being localized.

I didn't even know CP was coming. Gah, now I want it.

I'd forgotten about FC, I didn't follow it that closely since I had the PSP version.

The PC version of CP is an older version. In my opinion, it's not nearly as good. I don't like the art and the sound design isn't as atmospheric. YMMV of course.

They need to stop talking about SC until that thing finished and ready for a release date. Literally anything said about it at this point, whether it be good or bad, seems to cause nothing but bad omens for the thing.

Uh no, communication about what's been wrong with the project is absolutely something they should have done. Being silent about it would be the worst option.

SC isn't delayed just because of PC version problems. Editing was still going until recently and play testing is presenting issues for both platforms.

H.Pro actually mentioned editing was done all the way back in January. They did say some things had to be redone due to character limits though.

It's reached self-parody levels at this point. Odds Cold Steel 2 comes out before SC? Doesn't seem impossible.

And poor Tom is probably never going to make any sort of statement about SC ever again except "we're working on it." Every time he says something it seems to come back and bite him.

Letting people know what's wrong and why it's taking so long is great, constantly telling people "this will be out during summer, fall, or maybe winter?" or even "this is coming before CS, but not really" isn't. I like knowing what's going on with a game that I'm looking forward to, just as I'm sure many others are. I do not however like being led around when it comes to potential release candidates, when clearly there's enough problems that is keeping it from making any of them.

They haven't really done this in a long time. They've been continuously vague about release dates and haven't said much this year.

Of course if nis brings this to europe expect 55 £ minimum price tag...
Gotta love NIS europe for their capability of shitting on their own fanbase

? It was just said on the page before this that it would be coming before lol. It's also constantly been stated this year that it would be coming in the summer, which wasn't even talked about changing until last month when people started sifting through various facebook messages and seeing that it was infact, not making summer, which then sparked this big outrage and got them to make another blog post for it.

I have no idea why they decided to divide resources into CS when they are having so much trouble getting SC out the door.

Because SC can still potentially be successful even if it didn't come till the middle of next year, because it is on PC. They do not have that luxury when it comes to CS and it being on 2 systems that are steadily being abandoned, also the faster they get CS out the gate, the faster they can start working on CS 2 and getting it out.

I'm fine with us getting Trails of Cold Steel first, it's not the best of situations but I just NEED to play a new Kiseki game.

It's the right call considering that the Vita/PS3 are not getting younger, and we know that Falcom asked them to do it. From what I understand they HAVE to release Trails of Cold Steel this year while they don't have a set date for SC.

The outrage was because they'd been so silent. The only thing said on this page was another vague statement filled with qualifiers, including the possibility of being wrong. They've been pretty honest with the project's problems for a while now and haven't missed any firm dates or such, though missing 2015 would probably qualify for that. They've had problems with communication, but the solution for that has never been to be more silent.

Because SC's problems probably wouldn't be solved by the addition of CS's staff.
