I finished listening to Orkideas brand new album "Harmonia"

I think this is a fantastic album. I enjoyed every track, highly recommended. It is cool that there is a song that has audio from Ghost in the Shell as well as another song that has dialogue from Blade Runner.

I had fallen behind on the Future Sound of Egypt podcasts, and I'm finally caught up. Listening to the latest one right now (395) and it's absolutely slaying. Hopefully I'll get to see their set at EDC this weekend :D

Really enjoyed this Harmonia, loved that the BPM ramped over the course of the album.

Ok TranceGaf, if I think BT's "A Song Across Wires" is the absolute bee's knee's what else might I like?

I sort of stumbled on to BT a couple of years back when I heard a track of his on a dance compilation album but now I am ready to branch out. I'm mostly a rock and roll guy but I find myself listening to more electronic based music these days and am in search for more good stuff.

Any other BT fans out there? What else do you like?

Hello again.

Presenting the first of two special summer gifts for you, the second being a 4 hour set for Coldharbour Day on Tuesday July 28th. But before that, one of the most challenging and anticipated projects every year.

Ibiza and summer itself is symbolised by those beautiful sunrise moments, where we immerse ourselves in some incredible moments with our friends and loved ones, as the sun begins to ascend. For the past six years I have tried to encompass that through the annual GDJB Sunrise Sets, taking you on a journey of some of the most beautiful melodic and sunrise moments of our time, from both past and present.

The preparation actually goes back as far as last year; striving to find those special pieces of the puzzle. My mind went back to the likes of At the River, which I would hear so often on the radio after moving to London in 1999, or Let Me In which came out around the time Global DJ Broadcast was starting on a permanent basis in Miami.

And just as important was to showcase plenty of material released in 2015 itself (sneaky little ID included), and your embrace of Destiny continues to overwhelm. But still room for those seminal melodies such as Halcyon and Odyssey to Anyoona.

Let me know what you think of the mix in the comments, and you are welcome to share it with others. Hope this can be the soundtrack of many special moments with your friends and loved ones watching the sunrise for many years to come.

Was bored so I googled trance music documentary and found this MFS Berliner Trance Documentary (1993)
Really interesting 25 minute documentary looking at trance music in Berlin. It has interviews with some DJs including Paul van Dyk. Also in the video was the first time I actually heard Humate - Love Stimulation (Paul Van Dyk Love Mix) and you can say god damn this track is amazing. As for What been listening to these days I have been listening to Union Jack, and more recently Terra Ferma, but it wasn't to today that I clued in that Terra Ferma is the second half of Union Jack. I guess the Platipus label is the label for me. I also have started listening to The Orb since I heard he inspired Art of Trance to a degree though he is more ambient house than trance I believe.

Beatport has been having some good sales in the past month so I decided to pick up an album by Paul van Dyk. I decided to go with Out There and Back.

I'm not much for in depth reviews so I'll just say Its really great I loved how the songs flowed into each other. I have also been listening to some of Paul van Dyks older sets from the early 2000's and some really great shows to be heard.

Open to close sets are great ways to make any type of work go by fast. It's also a good way to really get a feel for the type of music a DJ likes to play. I haven't listened to too many only ones done by Gareth Emery, Solarstone, and Orkidea.

My favourite from the above would probably be the Solid Stone B2B Basil O' Glue, although a lot of that is prog house.

Same with Eelke's set.

Did anybody go to Dreamstate on Thanksgiving weekend? I am so sick of psytrance. Half the music I heard there was just bad. Not even house type of bad. I don't understand the appeal of it to trance fans.

I went and enjoyed it quite a bit. Could've done with some more uplifting trance in place of some of the psy; I like psy but it was a bit much at times. Also, it was fucking cold. =_= I'm surprised how much dislike I saw for Rank1's set, it was one of my favorites of the weekend by far.

Going to Dreamstate SF next month as well, Sean Tyas is my favorite so of course I have to go see him. Pumped that Solarstone will be there as well, actually going to a six hour set of his this weekend in SD.

Rank1's set was probably the most .."commercial/poppy" set of them all, which I enjoyed. There was practically no uplifting. Some from Standerwick and Giuseppe, and then Simon O Shine the next day (my favorite, so happy I got to see him live). I feel like everyone there was only there to get fucked up by those psy drops. Those were like the only times the crowd went crazy, and it was really starting to get old to me. Will Atkinson played some weird music, and Paul Oakenfold was personally a huge letdown. I actually left during his set, it literally sounded like the exact same beat for 30 minutes.

Is that how psy trance is? Does anybody have recommendations for good psy trance so I can see if it's enjoyable?

Six hour solarstone set in SD? WHAT??? Damn, that sounds pretty fucking amazing.
