The way that the Transformers multiverse works is so complicated and full of so much dimension hopping that it's basically impossible to understand without the wiki. The fact that everything is canon is the real kicker.

Optimus Prime as a potato head, Go-Bots, Star Wars, Dr. Who, Spider-Man, etc. are all canon in Transformers, and there's no varying degrees of canon. Of course this means we also have to put up with Kiss Players.

Megatron killed Jazz and some human guy who he flicked away in TF1.

He killed Sam in TF2 but he came back. edit: Forgot that he killed Prime because it didn't matter

He sat out on the sidelines in TF3.

He sort of sat out in the second half of TF4 but unleashed all those drones in Hong Kong.

Well there is a few funny gags, the butler robot for one is a cool character.

Anthony Hopkins speaking. Not what he says cause it's all nonsesne but just his voice, so great and commanding. And they make him do a few funny things.

The first 30 minutes, not terrible, some cool shit (basically robot gekko metal gears).

A few cool action moments.

And that's about it.

While this has all been going on Optimus Prime has been floating through space, broadcasting the message to his creators that we heard at the end of AOE. He crashlands of Cybertron and is woken up.
Apparently suffering severe amnesia/stupidity, Optimus is shocked at the state of Cybertron, never once remembering he made it fricking implode in DOTM.
