Yep, just saw it. Embargo is still on I guess.
Transistor as good as Journey confirmed. Not everything can be as great as Assassin's Creed III I suppose.Has this been posted? Quarter to Three review is out: http://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2014/05/20/transistor/ Score and quote:Tom gave it 2 out of 5, and he quite liked Bastion: "When I reviewed Bastion, I wrote the review as a list of 15 things all games can learn. For me, the real disappointment of Transistor is that developer Supergiant seems to have forgotten half those things."
Limited? really? have you seen the attacks customization?Eh... The only thing that's stopping me from buying this game right now is the combat. I absolutely love the art style and everything, but the combat just seems just so slow, repetitive, limited and just... Boring. The time-stopping strategy aspect is nice though.
But that combat. Ugh. Can't convince myself it will be fine.

Yes, but that doesn't solve my problem. My problem is to do with the animations as well as the speed. Even though you can change the effects of the attack, the attack is still the same. It's just slamming your sword into the ground over and over again. I find it limited in that sense. I mean, look right after the 8:05 mark. Look at that fight. I find it so repetitive.Limited? really? have you seen the attacks customization?

Is gonna be release also today in Europe, or we'll have to wait till tomorrow?
It seems like you're expecting this game to be more of an action game than it is. I haven't watched a ton of media (cause I want to go in fresh), but it seems like more of a turn based RPG to me. It's more of a kinetic experience than most RPGs -- you're running around and dodging when it's not your turn -- but it's turn based and you select attacks rather than mashing buttons to attack. And with that being the case, the lack of diverse attack animations doesn't really bother me. With action games good and interesting visual feedback is absolutely necessary, but with RPGs it's merely nice to have.Yes, but that doesn't solve my problem. It's literally just been taken back down again.
I honestly couldn't stand it. I suppose it's a love it or hate it affair!

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. I have this weird mentality that a game like this needs an action-ey combat system. I think it's clear that if they wanted to put that in, they could've easily done it, but they are aiming for something else. Like you said, they're aiming for that turn-based feel where you select your attacks. At least you've changed my perspective of the game now. I'll consider it. From what I've read/seen, the "sword" isn't a sword. You don't "attack" with it, it's not your typical melee weapon.Yes, but that doesn't solve my problem. If the review was from anyone else I might take it seriously.
Its because the team and Sony can't help if help is needed at 00:00it's 5/20, why can't I download the game I preordered on PSN? I really hate when games don't unlock when the day starts
Tom Chick is a good man, with games especially he seems to be on point more than most.
Based on a lot of his past reviews, I've learned that what he thinks is a good or bad game is very different from what I think so I tend to ignore his reviewsTom Chick is a good man, with games especially he seems to be on point more than most.

Yeah, like his Last of Us review which justifies a 6/10 score on the basis of a few segments where you have to move a plank, a whinge about how he wasn't very good at the game, and a false determination that it's a survival game (which it isn't - it's an action game).
After that debacle - not the only one of his - he's firmly on my list of reviewers whose views in no way coincide with mine. He's a contrarian. I occasionally agree with his scores, but the way he comes to them never ceases to amaze me.

OST is up on Spotify. Just search for Darren Korb.

I don't know, I think the whole idea of an "objective" review is kind of a farce, to be honest. If some guy disliked TLoU enough to give it a 6/10 I would simply say his opinion is representative of a very small minority, but that doesn't make it any less wrong or right than my own, just less popular.Whoever gives TLOU a 6/10 score is objetively a joke reviewer.
I don't know, if you look at TLOU from a purely technical stand-point and then give it a 6/10 then there's something wrong. Whether he LIKED it or not shouldn't have affected his score that drastically.I don't know, I think the whole idea of an "objective" review is kind of a farce, to be honest. I tend to ignore Tom Chick's reviews because his opinions rarely agree with my own but I won't go so far as to say he's a joke reviewer.
Anyway, I'm ready to see some Transistor reviews! Hurry it up already!
I'm with you there. It's the reason I'm not digital only this gen. Absurd if you ask me.
btw: is there a fix for the "black screen" since spotifys latest update? i cant select anything, since the main screen just stays black.

I can see WHY it would affect his score, as it's hard to drop personal assertions, but I think if you're being paid to review a product then you should do it with as little personal bias as possible. I don't like GoT but if I was paid to review it, I would probably end up giving it a higher score than 6/10.

Speaking of which. When do the reviews hit?
I realize I'm probably in the minority here, but I didn't much care for Bastion's gameplay.
Gameplay is my biggest worry here as well.
On the other hand, I want to support Supergiant, so I'll probably buy this anyway.
