Triangle Strategy port announced for Meta Quest VR

I hate Batman.

I was about to post this, glad I searched first. What a great fit for VR. Not all VR experiences need to force the player to embody the characters. We need to see more ports like this.

If you buying, make sure to send that referral link 😁 pre-order discount is 13%, but I don't like to support the practice of buying before seeing the game.
Will do. I'm most definitely going to get it.

Clever thing to port to vr.

Vr has gotten a bit stale since meta Been making most stuff quest 3 exclusive.

Although I just hope the iq is much better in vr than on console. I remember the demo being a blurry mess when I played it.

Comes out tomorrow. People on other sites are saying their preorder was charged today so I guess we're gold.

Triangle strategy, Batman, Metro VR, Alien VR, and Behemoth in the next 50 days. I'm going to run out of storage space and money lol. That's not counting all the smaller scale VR games I want to try.

I preordered the day it was announced. Excited to replay this. And yeah, I was charged today.

Great game. Head rotation for camera control will probably be better than the original game.

Yeah, zooming in briefly by leaning in closer will be neat, and hopefully you can also rotate the maps with your hands, so it has a real presence in the room.

Just preordered it. For those waiting for referral discounts, I don't know if the discount will be any more than the preorder discount.

I got no problem getting the credit, lol.

Where are the referral links at now? I can't seem to find them in the app like I used to.
click on center bottom circle that displays your user icon, click the upper righthand hamburger menu, scroll down to referrals, click on "apps", look for game.

I don't see the "apps" as an option anymore.

ok, go to library, click on triangle strategy. Click the 3 dots at the bottom right, and there should be a "send referral" option

edit: Meta leans hard into A & B updates to their apps and headsets, i hate it. I can log onto my daughters account, on the same quest, and her store looks way different than mine. Same with the app.

edit edit: the referral also will not work until the game is released. I forgot about that.

The game has officially released. But I don't have the referral option for it, or any other game I've purchased. Very strange.

Who did you piss off?

edit: if it is available through the headset, send it to my meta username MarkMe2525

Looks cool as hell

Hands on

I'm betting Quest Optimizer will make this look extra crispy. The Quest 3 could easily push the ceiling of the lenses.

I would gladly play it but only if it comes to Steam.

There's always the flat version, I guess for Steam. It's really meant for headsets with pancake lenses IMO anyway, due to the amount of text in the game.

Most VR games you don't spend like 10+ hours reading dialog and looking at unit stat/equipment screens (completionist HLTB lists ~100 hours for the game, so that's a lot of small text).

Gave it a quick run and it was great in pass through mode. Everything you'd hope really, zooming, rotating and very clean looking graphics running nice and smoothly.

Yeah, thats unfortunate.

Is it unfortunate Valve funded Alyx and Sony funded RE4/RE7/RE8 VR along with other PSVR/PSVR2 games? Sometimes the hardware maker needs to step up to sell the hardware.

I don't know how I feel about this.

On the one side, it's great to get a VR game that's decent quality and different from the standard fare.

On the other hand, I don't know this game's length, but I couldn't imagine playing the entirety of something like Tactics Ogre with a headset on.

It's like 30 hours (way more for full completionist), but you can save and do individual battles, so not sure the worry... plus there's headset comfort mods out, my Quest 3 w/ battery strap is no trouble for 3-4 hours.

RE4 / RE8 could easily be the same length if you follow up with a NG+ playthrough, the initial pass for either game is 15-20 hours.

The "worry" is I just don't want to wear a headset for a 100+ hour SRPG like Tactics Ogre Reborn was. But if it isn't that long, it's not a problem.

Right, but isn't the point to have stuff to play - how many hours is Beat Saber? I'm sure that game people have worn a headset for 1,000s of hours (I'm scared to check my Theatrhythm playtime, and I'm not even as bad as some are). Or VR Chat.

I guess it's different for people who do 5-hour sessions at once - then even a 15-hour game is just a few sessions long, vs 20 sessions of a 100 hour game. But if you're like me and do 30 minute sessions, the difference between 60 sessions and 150 isn't really all that different lol.

My review after 3 minutes doing the tutorial. Holy fuck this is system seller level amazing.

The stage is basically a giant real life game board on my floor while I sit on the couch with passthrough. You can move it and rotate it. You pick up the characters with grip to move them like chess pieces and it feels fun just to move around the characters. 1st cutscene kicked on and its on a giant 200 inch widescreen and easy to watch. In mixed view it can see the room and made the entire wall in front of me the TV for cutscenes so it fits the room.

FYI, it defaults to very easy. If you're a SRPG fan you're doing yourself a huge disservice if you don't play on normal.

I don't have the ability to give referrals on the headset either. Meta must have put me on some no referrals list. Sorry folks.

I don'T doubt but will it sell well..?

That's easy, no. The regular flat version looks like it only sold 1 million copies over 2 platforms, so I don't think it's a game that will sell well, unless we consider 1 million copies well, which these days really isn't.

Maybe Final Fantasy Tactics VR might have caught more attention, but I think this in a quite a few ways is a better choice for most people, as it is a lot newer and has some pretty cool stuff not in FFT.

I still haven't played it but I think it's more a Steam Deck game for me than VR one.

These type of games have always been really well suited for handhelds, with FF Tactics on the PSP, and Jean D'Arc, Disgaea and all the others, there's 100s of them for sure.

But VR always gets the same first person type games over and over and over, with the occasional sprinkling of other things, so seeing a sRPG of all games look, control and play so enjoyably in VR really goes to show VR can do a lot more than people are using it for.

It really shines in the pass-through mode too, what a great use, you can set up the battlefield to be 5' large over your table or even make it the size of the entire room. VR just makes viewing the game so much cooler, you can zoom in to the cities on the world map in VR, and see all the hundreds of houses that would be a pixel or two large in crisp, clear detail, make out the textures for the windows and doors and see the lights in each house. It's crazy, to me it feels like Puzzling Places if you ever tried the demo of that, with how detailed the 3D models are if you zoom in close, except this is a standard console game, not a casual puzzle game.

They also put a lot of work in the conversion, and controls, lots of little details in the UI like how they hide/show the turn order (merely rotating your left hand and it rolls out from the controller), and for the most part focus the text in ideal positions and sizes for VR, and it's definitely a good showpiece for something different in VR.

I'm not a VR guy at all... but to me a layman this seems like a damn good use of it. Especially since I haven't played TS yet.

I could see myself going through this, though. And I never say that about VR stuff.
