They did he was called Orton and everyone bitched about it.

People only bitched because Orton was boring a lot of the time. His rest-hold filled matches, his methodical pacing, and his snoozefest promos all detract from that character. He had no energy aside from when it was time to hit his one contrived RKO. And even when he got some energy, it came in the form of a spastic "Viper" gimmick where the guy is, LITERALLY, slithering around the ring, and having venom induced convulsions.

I don't remember who said it in this thread some time in 2010 or 2011, but think back to when Austin turned heel, and how he was working. He legit looked like he was trying to kill people, and it wasn't even because he was being strong style stiff or anything, it's just about his demeanor and how they presented him. There's nobody in the WWE that walks to the ring with the wrath of God behind them shoving cameramen out of the way who you look at and think "MAN, this guy. This guy right here is about to kick someone's ass."

Watching the WWE is like watching a 2 hour advertisement for Sweet'n Low.

They don't even need to be an Austin-style badass even. I think Kurt Angle circa 2005 or so was an absolute fucking killer, strong, could outwrestle anyone, and was intense and seemingly a bit crazy. If Vince wasn't so obsessed with height they could have Daniel Bryan be that sort of guy nowadays, I haven't seen much of him in the indies but he seemed to be that sort of character.

Angle had the move set and charisma to pull it off though. He'd just run in the ring and belly-to-belly suplex everybody in sight. Then Angle Slams and other awesome shit.

I miss that sloppy drunk douche. :(

He punts people in the skull plus remember aren't heels supposed to be sneaky and faces clean cut heroes though. Small guys that try and kill faces legit always makes me feel the heels are unintelligent.

When we are hating on things, I might as well say...

Undertaker's so called "Streak" is kinda of bullshit to be honest. Over have the "victims" are Z-list wrestlers. It is pretty shit of a thing to be held in such high regard.

I am the leader of the Face Sheamus Hate Club.

Fortunately, I am accepting new members.

My hatred for Sheamus makes John Cena seem like the lesser evil in the WWE.

Heck, right now Sheamus is an Irish Cena.
You can't build a feud with him, he's never worried because he knows he's booked to win.
He isn't a bad ass, he doesn't give good promo's and I can't remember one interesting match or feud that he's been in.

Well maybe in the beginning against Goldust on ECW.

Luck of the Irish.

Heels are supposed to be the bad guys. That's it. Not EVERY heel needs to be a sneaky cheat, not EVERY heel needs to be a coward, not EVERY heel needs to be a monster - but a bit of variety and inventiveness would be nice.

I mean, would it kill them to have a heel who ISN'T already a huge monster appear competent and dangerous in the ring? A bad guy who does bad things, but also has the skills to be a real threat to the faces?

I for one cannot await the return of Del Rio.

Hopefully he will not just utter one line though.

Less talk about destiny and more talk about the journey.

I'm watching this stupid channel called youtoo, I only watch cause it shows Batman/Green Hornet.

And they have people make videos like youtube or whatever responses.

and this woman who's well.....not exactly beautiful just chimed in on how she had a wonderful time meeting JoMo.

Truly he is a man of the people.

No, everyone bitched about the superman booking of Orton's character, not the character itself. I preferred Randy when he still heard voices in his head and was liable to punt anyone in the skull at a moment's notice. Now he's just bland, like everyone else.

Those were really good days for Orton's character, with Legacy. Definitely one of my favorite mini-stables. They complemented each other really well. Sad how Ted Jr can't catch a break!

i guess when the audience changes and the shows is mainly catered to shitty brats, u just get a shitty show. welcome to the dark ages of the wwe

I'm worried that the Funkasaurus is on the brink of extinction

They should really give him some proper matches at this point, since Swagger isn't doing anything right now they could even go with a US title feud.

Somehow I missed the announcement of Cena and Kane being an ambulance match, I actually really quite like the one with Shane and Kane from Survivor Series 03 and this gives the chance for the big brawling match i've been wanting from this feud since it started but all I can envision is tame brawling with lots of heads being smacked against various walls and objects because that's how WWE brawls work nowadays. I've said it before and i'll say it again, I want to see something on the level of Cena/Umaga LMS from this match, both men easily have the ability to do so and after having to suffer through the fumbling storyline they could do with a great match to try and make up for things....eh, who am I kidding? it's going to be a boringly safe match that has Kane being Attitude adjusted into the ambulance and Cena rising above the hate to face the Rock in a bland face vs face build up full of RESPECT.

While on the topic of the EC ppv I hope Christian returns soon and removes Khali from the chamber match to take his place becasue no one wants to see Khali in a main event in 2012 or any time for that matter.

Final point: I wonder what's Orton going to have lined up for Wrestlemania? they could stretch out the Barrett thing but that's not the best idea since it has run its course , I'm beginning to think they should have had him win the rumble and face Bryan at WM since he put on some very solid matches last year, maybe go for a triple threat match with Bryan and Sheamus, throw in Barrett for a fatal four way?

Please no.

I think Orton is allowed a pass on the MITB match because 1) He's a "vet", and 2) he has a completely low impact/safe style so he wouldn't be in that kind of match.

I think he'll probably be facing Wade Barrett. They just need to spice up the feud somehow.

Someone mentioned TEW10 and I looked into it - long ago I used to mess with a text-based wrasslin' sim called TNM7 - is this by the same dudes? Is it better? Worse? Worth the high price of $35?

Any opinions would be fantastique.

Hardcore match? Punjabi prison match? (lol)

As for spicing up the feud, Barrett could always go after Orton's bus or one of his numerous fake wives.

I could always go for a Punjabi prison match that isn't just filled with lumbering brutes for a change.

Barrett could steal Orton's bus filled with the numerous fake wives and he turns them into poncy Brits serving under him under the guise of Sir Barrett with his charming English ways setting Orton on a mission to regain both his lost wives and their former patriotism. Book it!
don't book it

NXT and Superstars spoilers:

1. Epico and Primo defeated JTG and Mike McGillicutty. Epico and Primo came out to boos. JTG and McGuillicutty came out to cheers because they used the old Cryme Tyme theme. McGuillicutty worked like a face.

2. Jack Swagger (w/Vickie Guerrero) defeated Santino Marella. Comedy. Huge chants for Santino, huge "Vickie sucks" chants. Swagger got most of the offense. Santino came back every now and then only to be stopped in his tracks. There was a Cobra tease, but Swagger won with the ankle lock.
Let me preface this by saying that I was at the show last night. My question is, when did this stuff happen? I would've loved to have seen #2.

Smackdown spoilers
I'm just going to spoiler everything to be safe. Pretty sure this stuff wasn't recorded for the show.

After Bryan's unclean win, Orton stayed in the ring and they announce that there was now going to be a "street" fight between Orton and Barrett. Barrett's music hits and he comes out to boos. He gets in the ring, kicks an injured Orton around for a bit, and then jumps outside to grab a chair. He gives Orton some gut shots with the chair, then lodges the chair in the corner between two ropes. Barrett tries to throw Orton into the chair but Orton reverses. A few uneventful minutes go by and Bryan rushes out to the ring. Barrett and Bryan begin to stomp the hell out of Orton. Then Big Show comes out and helps Randy. Show choke slams the hell out of Bryan. Orton then RKO's Barrett after Barrett misses an elbow drop from the top ropes. Orton then pins Barrett for the 1, 2, 3. Show confronts Orton in the middle of the ring seemingly to apologize for his rash behavior. Orton reaches out his hand as if to accept Show's apology only to turn on him and deliver another RKO. The show ends with Orton's music playing. Personal side note: I don't like Orton. So god damn predictable.

Also, I don't think Teddy Long was even in the building last night. Everything we saw of him was on the Titantron.

And one last thing that I thought was just THE most ridiculous thing I've ever seen and it made me weep for future generations. There were some girls in front of us probably around the ages of 10-13. All they did the entire night was use their iPhone to film... wait for it... THE FUCKING TITANTRON! That's right. They were filming a screen. I wanted to say something so bad. Luckily my buddy has less tact than I do and did say something. I believe it was, "why even bother leaving your living room if you're just going to watch the screen all night? And if you want a recording of it, DVR it and replay it whenever you want." I just couldn't believe it.

Anyway, it was a really great time. My group seemed to be jokers that got all the chants going for the night. Lots of fun. :)

Haha I remember those back in the day. So awesome.

Does anyone remember a text based, online-multiplayer game called "Get In the Ring 2000"?

Those particular matches happened the night before at the Raw taping. I just compiled all of the Superstars matches for this week together for those interested.

Hey, you in Tulsa too? Wrassle-GAF meetup!
Yeah man! Smackdown is coming back to Tulsa in October too. They had the tickets on sale last night as we were leaving. Not sure if we're going to go to that one though.

Ah okay. That makes more sense.

Superstars/NXT is filmed starting about an hour before "showtime", can't remember whether the tickets say this or not
Yep, but I had watched all of NXT and Superstars and didn't see those matches so I was wondering when they were taped. And the tickets do not say that if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure either. Sadly, it depends on who is on the roster for me, because SD/Raw shows are way too expensive for what it is, usually. If things look good around October, let's get somethin' happening. TV side, Wrassle-GAF signs.
