True Detective - Season 2 - We get the Season we deserve - Sundays on HBO

Ani's line was fine. Should've ended there. We already got the point that woman enjoyed the prostitution/escort life. We don't need a dumb line like "Everything is fucking".

I like that she had a retort to Ani's holier-than-thou statement...just not that retort.

Then there was those parts where Frank saw those water stains everywhere. That was dropped faster than Stan.

I think the water stain was gone when Frank and Queen Frank move to their new home and finally bang again. He even says "Hey, no more water stains" or something like that.

IT MEANS SOMETHING GUYS

The second half of the season is great so far.

Vince Vaughn is great.

But not enough Birdman, so that really just detracts. You got this cool concept, and did nothing with it, Nic. Fuck's sake.

Everything is fucking.

I'm curious to see who's directing the last episode. They've been pretty quiet about that.

Vaughn actually did a fairly good job the last episode, the best he's ever done.

I loved the way he casually looked on as the stupid goon bled out on his carpet.

Yeah. Which makes you think that the directing and writing must've been horrible for him early on, or he didn't get comfortable with the role until late game

More than that, Frank actually got stuff to do in this episode.

Watching him die slowly on the floor was a great little character moment...but I just can't buy Vince at a ruthless boss. Just can't do it--his personality needs some levity or maybe a hint of psycho or something. I don't know what it is.

He got soft trying to go straight. I think the scene with him beating and deteething Santos was a glimpse of the former Frank

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
This was actually the first epiaode where I bought Frank as this menacing gangster type. Worked way better with Vaughn playing him cold and accustomed to violence than the "Beat my chest" Frank that we've seen before.

Agreed. While his lines were still stupid, I still agree.

Now this is what I'm talking about, about damn time pizzaman. Great Episode the tension was very well done, you can feel the characters being trapped from all sides

I wonder if we'll ever get a reason for melting Caspare's eyes out and Birdman driving him out to the middle of nowhere like he did.

You'd think it would be easier to shoot him unless it was torture that killed him, which I forget if it was or not.

Then there was those parts where Frank saw those water stains everywhere. That was dropped faster than Stan.

If it's the two kids exacting revenge, Caspare being a voyeur could mean he watched the rape of their mother or the torture of both parents. The cop said the parents were worked over and that the father and the mother were in different places of the house.
As for Frank looking at water stains, I think it's a practically a given at this point that the mexicans will do him, so I assume he'll go Carlito's way style while watching water stains.

I don't understand the "pizza man" joke that keeps being repeated on here, what is it?

Is that seriously the joke? -_-

It's a nickname, what is wrong with nicknames?

It's a lot easier to remember and type than Pizzolatto(I'm not sure if I spelled it correctly or not).

I still think the major reason is people don't know how to spell his name (Pizzolatto), but like other things on the internet, at this point it is people jumping on a bandwagon of hate and driving a bad joke into the ground because god-forbid they put thought into criticism or an original joke for themselves.

Things have escalated. Quickly.

Read through my posts in this thread and you will read almost nothing but criticism and disappointment with this season, and I'm one of the few who didn't fall absolutely in love with the first season. I'm just tired of the stupid "pizzaman" joke people trot out.

Anyway, back on topic, I wonder the reason for the excessive season finale if it is 90 minutes like was poster earlier in this tread. For a show that gave barely any character or story moments, except in the last two with info-dumps, I'm curious on the need for it to be so long.

If anyone is interested there's a really good recap of what the hell is going on on this site right here. Helped me understand some stuff. One thing I'm not clear on, why exactly did they steal the diamonds in 92? It wasn't just for money was it?

Pizzaman isn't a very good writer.

I like this season but it feels like they took a 5 episode season and extended it to 8.

This part was not clear at all from watching the show:
The short version: it could be bought cheap and sold high. The longer version: Frank’s waste management company, Acheron Waste Management, colluding with Vinci Mayor Austin Chessani (Ritchie Coster) and the Catalyst Corporation, dumped Vinci toxic waste in this land, which was located “up north,” to drive down its price by making it unsuitable for agriculture. But Catalyst, Chessani, Caspere and Frank, among others, knew the federal government had plans to build a high-speed rail through this land “corridor” and would be willing to buy it at a much higher price.

"Everything is fucking" was my favorite Pizzaman moment this week.

This show went from "i'm interested" to "up his own butt" for me which makes it even more fun to read here that people are NOW getting into this season.

It's at a point where reading reviews after an episode is more enjoyable then the episode itself.

I keep watching hoping it will get better. I like Colin Farrell's and Rachel McAdam's characters. The storyline around them is okay. But the rest sucks. I really wanted to like Vince Vaughn in this but his storyline is really bad. You can literally do away with him and no one would flinch. His acting is horrible in this. It's like someone told him to be boring, and why he would agree idk. He could have done much better being himself.

I can understand pacing problems, and character development problems from trying to write an entire season in under a year, but some of the individual lines are so bad I'm wondering how he even originally wrote them on paper, then decided to keep them in the show.

I actually think it's the opposite, they had a ten ep run that shrunk to 8.

You don't dick around for first 4 eps like they did here unless they thought they had some room to breathe. Plus, the 90 minute finale.
