Well I paused the video to get a drink, came back, and the page reloaded and I couldn't skip to where I was previously so had to sit through the entire thing. The website where the video is did have a full transcript but even THEN I had trouble following all the babbling. You can just tell from Pence that he's backed into a corner and has no other option than to brown nose the ever living fuck out of Trump. He can't say anything or speak his mind. Trump is more than happy to answer for him, however, at questions otherwise directed at Pence.

This is gonna sink Trump further and further as the election season wears on. A Presidential ticket where the P-VP team has no chemistry and don't even like each other all that much is the kiss of death. Trump's kids were the ones that practically forced Pence in but at the end of the day they're not gonna be the ones who will have to campaign alongside him. Trump is a terrible faker, and he won't be able to "fake" being comfortable around or liking Pence at all.
I just don't understand Donald Trumps success at all.
I get that he's a demagogue, and that he's tapping into forces that are dangerous and powerful, and historically have happened before. But the difference is - he speaks like a child. A particulary idiotic child. Demagogues rally the people using incredible oratory that overrides reason - Hitler, Mussolini, etc. Trump doesn't - he is literally speaking gibberish. Those transcripts demonstrate someone who can't even form coherent sentences or thoughts.
That's what I find different and completely perplexing about Trump. It's the big difference between him and past demagogues - he has zero speaking ability, whatsoever.

That probably says more about the average intelligence of his voters than it does about Trump. There are always dumber people.

Past demagogues had to convince ordinary lucid citizens. Trump has it easy because it doesn't take much to fool idiots. Unfortunately for him the percentage of idiots here isn't enough for him to win.

Trump doesn't have to be a great orator because he's basically a walking subliminal billboard. It's why he constantly repeats phrases. Trump might speak like an idiot but he isn't really one when it comes to reeling suckers in. He knows he just has to say a few buzzwords repeatedly to get those who already believe the nonsense he's spouting on his side.

a lot of the issues in this election are big, complicated, messy, complex issues that are extremely hard to discuss and nail down solutions for.

Simple, one sentence "solutions" that make your opponents seem too complicated and "establishment". Trump is running as an "outsider" right? So whenever Hilary actually discusses the issues yelling those soundbites has the added benefit of her seeming like she wants to complicate things.

You know there are days when I start to think maybe Trump isn't a total clusterfuck and a joke of a candidate and maybe there is some nuance and depth there I'm not seeing. Then I see interviews like this and slap my past self. How anyone can watch this and support this man afterwards is fucking insane.
