This story is a doozy, surprised there hasn't been a thread on it yet (or maybe there was, but I couldn't find one). It seems like someone in the White House leaked to noted crazy person Mike Cernovich that Susan Rice had requested the names of Trump associates be unmasked from surveillance documents. He wrote about it on 4/2 on medium https://medium.com/@Cernovich/susan...g-trump-administration-officials-30085b5cff16

Yesterday Fox News picked up the story

Trump again claimed victory and vindication

So who leaked this to Cernovich, you clown? Who thought using Cernovich to push this story was a good idea? Cernovich of pro-rape, disgustingly racist, Pizza-gate pushing infamy. I guess if you're trying to muddy the waters, you're best off using a being of pure filthy like Cernovich

Trump must have mentioned it to Rand Paul while they were golfing too, because he's talking about it now too

"Now we know that someone in the Obama administration was eavesdropping and specifically searching a databank looking for the Trump (people)," Sen. Rand Paul proclaimed Tuesday on MSNBC's Morning Joe.

In fact, there is no evidence of that.

Senior Obama administration officials don't dispute that Rice requested the "unmasking" of certain Americans whose names appeared in intelligence reports resulting from eavesdropping on foreigners — meaning the foreigners were discussing the Americans or talking to them. Usually, those names are blacked out. But the blackout can be lifted if doing so is necessary to help understand the intelligence.

Requesting that is a routine thing for national security advisers to do, according to former senior officials, including Keith Alexander, who directed the National Security Agency.

President Trump sought to turn attention away from the Russia investigation on Monday, saying that “the real story” was what he called a “crooked scheme against us” by President Barack Obama’s team to mine American intelligence reports for information about him during last year’s presidential campaign.

The president’s broadside against his predecessor coincided with a string of reports in conservative news media outlets that Susan E. Rice, Mr. Obama’s national security adviser, requested the identities of Americans who were cited in intelligence reports about surveillance of foreign officials, and who were connected with Mr. Trump’s campaign or transition.

Former national security officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, described the requests as normal and said they were justified by the need for the president’s top security adviser to understand the context of reports sent to her by the nation’s intelligence agencies.

The process of “unmasking” Americans whose names are redacted in intelligence reports, they said, is not the same thing as leaking them publicly.

But Mr. Trump and his allies seized on the news media reports to bolster his case that he was targeted by the departing administration for political reasons. As the F.B.I. and congressional committees investigate contacts that associates of Mr. Trump had with Russian officials and business figures, the president argued that he was the victim of dirty tricks and that, if anything, it was associates of his defeated opponent, Hillary Clinton, who were doing the bidding of Vladimir V. Putin’s Russia.

So this is why twitter is blowing up with fake news and Trumplets saying that this is Obama and his communist party undoing

What the fuck is Rand Paul doing? For a while I was willing to accept him as principled opposition despite not agreeing with much of his policy, but now he's just carrying water for Trump.

So much for having a Republican with character in the Senate. One of my friends is a huge Paul fan so I don't look forward to hearing about these conspiracy theories all weekend.

This story is a bunch of bullshit. Typical Trump diversion tactic. Guy sees the walls closing in on him so he needs to create another controversy. It's complete nonsense.

The day when Cernovich takes too much Gorilla Mind and has to leave the internet is going to be fucking great.

Don't give this shit traction or attention. That's exactly what Trump wants. It's nonsense and fake news to muddy what Is actually going on.

thankfully the IC is a fair bit smarter than the average Trump supporter, so this will die a quick death while the case against Komrad Trump continues

I feel like Trump gaining a bit of traction on an issue means the next couple of days will be miserable for him and his administration.

I think it is fair to question her motives for revealing the names of Trump associates. I tend to believe it was within the interest of national security to have this information, but it is a bit of a Rorschach test at this point.

Half the country is spoon fed this garbage. When the real evidence against Trump is mustered and the case against him is made, they are going to be confused. What happened to all this stuff, they will ask. It will feel to them like a coup.

At first I thought this could be pretty serious worthy of investigation at least but after reading into more and especially after hearing Susan Rice on TV this morning, there really isn't anything there. It sounds like she was just doing the typical job of a National Security Advisor.

Many on the right are acting like she went rogue and used an eraser to "unmask" US citizens in these survelliance reports. But anything that was unmasked, she would have to send in an request to the intelligence agencies and they would have had to approve of the request. So if Susan Rice was guilty of using classified information improperly, then the intelligence agencies would have been complicit too. But you don't hear Republicans in Congress going after the intelligence agencies, their fire is focused purely at Rice as if she was reading Trump official's names from a phone book.

When she asks for the unmask, it's because she doesn't know who it is!

If someone's repeatedly meeting with a Russian spy of course you'd want to know who it was!

Also, IT WAS PART OF HER FUCKING JOB.

Reporter needs to ask Spicer straight up what is wrong with her doing her job.

Or at least try to get him to explain how Trump going 'Obama illegally wire tapped me' is now 'The Obama Administration NSA did part of her job function', unless they want to explain why Trump associates were showing up in so many monitored calls.

It's funny they are pushing this because the story confirms Trump's team were meeting with foreign agents already under surveillance, it also confirms the names were properly masked (contrary to what Nunes initially said) and that Rice made completely *legal* requests to have them unmasked to further the investigation, which is totally normal and justified.

Also, they're saying Republican lawyers had this info for over a month and didn't do anything with it because there was nothing there. If this is the best they can do, they are screwed. It was obviously put out there to distract from the Eric Prince story, which could be game over for Trump if they can prove Prince acted on Trump's orders.

"Yes, our people have been in constant communication with identified agents of the Kremlin as Russia was attacking our democratic institutions with an automated psyops campaign and cyber intrustions.

Yes, we can see this extent and pattern of this behavior from legally sanctioned intercepts of foreign targets, obtained as part of an official and lawful counter-espionage investigation.

But no, that's not what we should talk about: THERE ARE RULES ABOUT SHARING THESE THINGS AND WE'RE ALL EXPERTS ON THE PROPER PROCEDURE NOW! Enough with the treason, let's talk FUCKING PROTOCOL!"

I just... I need pills to deal with nonsense these loons are spinning.

“Let us be very clear about this. There is no evidence whatsoever that the Trump team… was spied on illegally. There is no evidence that backs up the president’s original claim. And on this program tonight, we will not insult your intelligence by pretending otherwise, nor will we aid and abet the people who are trying to misinform you, the American people, by creating a diversion.”
Don Lemon couldn't have said it any better on his show last night, but it seems his colleagues may be falling for that diversion.

Cernovich makes the claim, Fox News and hard right news take the bait, Trump and Jr make the tweet and boom!

A total nonsense story now becomes mainstream news!

CNN is talking about Carter Page "attempting to be recruited by three Russians to be a counter-intelligence asset / spy."

Guess my ignorance was shining through on that comment. There wasn't a lot of people reporting on this, so I've been trying to piece this together from Bloomberg and Fox News articles.

Well, the president has admitted to sexual assault, why not wholly endorse a fucking crazy person who has opined time and time again about rape and has admitted to it himself multiple times.

Kind of like the Mad Men episode where the one cigarette company advertised their tobacco were "toasted", even though that's part of the basic process that all cigarette brands do. Take a normal thing, re-frame it as something bad, and boom instant distraction.

News like these can keep people like The_Donald occupied, but it's not stopping the FBI. They can try whatever scapegoat they can, ultimately, they're still fucked.

Again the fuckin Gorilla Mind guy staying in the spotlight of relevancy, causing the rest of us to question if this is all real or indeed some kind of wild simulation.

I can't shake the feeling this is a plan to make it so when he gets impeached people will think it's an attempt by Obama's Shadow Government™ to seize power, leading to a mass revolt by right-wing militia nuts to overthrow the government and re-install Trump to his rightful throne.

This is like if you were shopping at the mall and accidentally caught your spouse kissing someone else and when you confront them your spouse gets angry and yells "why were you spying on me why don't you trust me".

Help me understand. Trump is boasting about how he was talking to suspected criminals and spies that the CIA were wiretapping?
And now he's upset that someone in the whitehouse wanted to know who the spy/criminal was talking to. Because it was Trump and chatting with spies/criminals is what presidents do now?

I don't see how there's any version of this story where Trump comes out on top.
