If Trump was really innocent, you'd think his advisors would have foreseen how his Russian contacts would be perceived and announced it all right at the beginning of his campaign, along with his tax returns, to show that nothing shady was going on. That's the only scenario in which this Susan Rice issue would actually be suspicious.
