Trump hires new deputy chief of staff whose wife's twitter feeds contains gems like "White people can't say N-word but Black people can"

But in today's USA, those kind of ideas are no longer problematic.

"To be fair, the White House isn't hiring Darla Shine. They are hiring her husband. And most Americans are not denied jobs because of the behavior of their spouses. But most Americans aren't a top communications official for the leader of the free world — who half of Americans think is racist, according to a recent Quinnipiac survey"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...kely-wont-matter-much/?utm_term=.3d9c95a9e852

Even though this won't cause any issue with Trump's supporters as these kind of tweets is what elected Trump to the highest office of the country, but it doesn't do much to help Trump's racist image. Surely there must've been other potential candidates whose spouses didn't have such baggage. Or was he chosen deliberately to galvanize his supporters but further divide everyone else?

Before we hear the cries of support from Trump supporters, ask yourself one question. What if this woman was instead found to be a terrorist sympathiser? an ISLAMIC terrorist sympathiser? Would you still be defending it? Or would you be questioning Trump's decision to hire this potential terrorists husband?

Some choice tweets from Darla Shine:

  • After Trump was widely criticized for referring to African nations as “shithole countries,” @darlashine tweeted a meme with two images, one a golden civilization that read “Rome 2000 years ago” and another of huts in a jungle that read “Africa today.”
  • “At FSU u can punch a girl in the face & only get kicked off football team but sing a song with the N word in it & you’re expelled at Oklahoma,” said a 2015 tweet, after members of a fraternity were expelled for chanting “There will never be a N—- in SAE.” It compared them to ex-Florida State quarterback De’Andre Johnson, a black athlete who was dismissed from the team after being caught on video punching a woman in a bar.
  • “Yes Lets blame the Confederate Flag instead of Big Pharma and the psychiatric violence inducing Suboxone Dylan [sic] Roof was taking,” said another tweet. Roof killed nine African-Americans at a church in Charleston, South Carolina in 2015.
  • “Just singing to one of my jams ‘Golddigger’ by Kanye West when I realized If I sing along to the verse ‘Broke N—-‘ I might be a racist,” @darlashine tweeted in July 2015. (The tweet spelled out the N-word.)
  • “Wondering what it was that set off the #ABC execs the #Ape comment or really the #MuslimBrotherhood comment,” said a tweet in May.
  • “The new stand in President at #mizzou is black. Will every white College President have to be replaced,” said a 2015 tweet.

Sorry, but you already admitted all that needs to be said

"To be fair, the White House isn't hiring Darla Shine. They are hiring her husband. And most Americans are not denied jobs because of the behavior of their spouses."

This is a perfect example of one of the Left's favorite terms: whataboutism.

If the behavior of Melania speaks negative or positively about Trump (and it does), then it's the same for this person.

If the behavior of Michelle speaks positively or negatively about Barack (and it does), then it's the same for this person.

I don't want any politicians who would have a wife that says things like this leading this country.

But you voted for Hillary who called African-American children in gangs "superpredators", who was the wife of Bill Clinton who used super-racist campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" nearly 30 years ago.

Oops.

Six years ago, a very hot summer night, ave a with friends hanging tight
No future, no goals, and no destiny, hanging on the corner
For the world to see
Some friends drunk, some friends high
Laughing talking shit as the people walked by
The air was tense and muggy as fuck, lower east side running amuck
Guilty by association, judged by who I know
Can't keep all my friends out of trouble
When they got no place to go
Me drug free in the midst of it all
Crazy fucking summer hanging out with madball
People got their ass kicked, people got hurt
But I was accepted for all it was worth
Bad reputations are hard to live down
I'm not guilty for who I hang around
Sometimes I felt like an outcast, trying to talk my friends out of trouble
Tried to be a positive role model, but I got caught up in the rumble
We had ideas scribbled on walls, six years later, our destiny calls
Living our lives, some of us in bands
Touring the world, but we know where we stand
'Cause when we play shows together or just hanging out
We're still the same fellas, still all tight, young till we die
And ready to fight for what's right
As I look back now on that summer vacation
I realize, I'll always be guilty by association

I'm black. I'll always be voting for the lesser of two evils.

I dislike Hilary less than I hate Trump. Seems pretty simple to me.

Funny that you legit thought this was a "gotcha".

I mean, you're using the term "whataboutism" like a good number of leftists do, but they're also using the word incorrectly. For it to actually be whataboutism, we'd have to have a scenario in which a conservative criticizes a liberal over something unethical, then the liberal brings up this guy's wife in response in an attempt to ignore the original criticism and change the subject to something bad that someone else did, even though it's totally unrelated. Think of it more like a dishonest deflection of criticism.

Don't take it personally, I was fed up with leftists using this term incorrectly too.

Who. Cares. What. I. Think.

You were the one who posted the thread. If you can't defend your point without fumbling over yourself "bu bu bu but WHAT IF..." the you never had a point to begin with.

To answer your question, I'd first want a better picture of what "jihadist sympathiser" means. In this day and age, you can be labelled a racist for being born the wrong skin color, so I'd be curious to hear her views unfiltered.

Hahaha so you can't answer? I've been pretty clear, you on the other hand, haven't. You keep refusing to answer pretty simple questions. You use the wrong defences. Whataboutism? There isn't any whataboutism in the original post..... "What is a jihadist sympathiser"? Seriously? Ill make it super simple, what if the spouse was an ISIS sympathiser. Now let's see you dodge this question....

If one things for certain Trump getting in power has jeopardised my positive view of the left. I’m now staying well in the center, far, far away from both crazy sides.

What. Does. Isis. Sympathiser. Mean?

You live in this puerile bubble where life is one big "gotcha". I live in the real world where assertions are backed by proof and arguments are supported by evidence.

Let me answer your question in the way that you'd like me to: if she was an "ISIS sympathizer" in all the bad ways that we could imagine her, then I wouldn't support her at all. As a rational human, that's not how I tend to see things but that's where I would land in light of those assumptions.

Now, here's the part where you say: "hah! Gotcha. See? What a hypocrite. You'll support a [completely unrelated standpoint] but you won't support an ISIS sympathiser? Checkmate, racist".

Go for it. Type it all out.

Trump supporters love this. But if she was a Black panther sympathiser, or a jihadist sympathiser, I bet this conversation would be different....

I would hope the left also wouldn't be a Jihadist sympathizer too.

You're argument is that Trump supporters voted for Trump because of his Tweets. Do you have any evidence that was the main reason they voted for him? Please, back up what you claim.

Don't project yourself on to others mate. You are getting way too emotional. If we read your original post, you said that hiring or firing someone based on the views of their spouse, doesn't make sense. I then asked you if you would still support the hire, if the wife had tweeted jihadist propaganda instead of racist tweets.

You answered with "I wouldn't support the wife if she did that", which again, I wasn't asking. I'm asking if you would support the hire, if the spouse had ISIS sympathies. Would you think it ok to hire the husband of an ISIS sympathiser for communications director of the leader of the country? Can we separate the husband from the wife in that case? Can we say that the wife's views are independent of the husband's?

If you actually read the post carefully and don't angirily start bashing at the keyboard only having understood 10 percent of the post, you'd save yourself further emotional distress.

But I'm assuming you wouldn't be happy hiring the husband of an ISIS sympathiser, so why would you make the exception for a husband of a racist? Is that the line? ISIS sympathies? Racism doesn't quite cross it?

Also bear in mind, here is a guy who was also covering up sexual harassment at Fox news .....

In the original post I never say it that Trump's twitter feed is the main reason he was elected. The contents of his tweets definitely helped, but there were other factors, eg Hilary was a terrible candidate, frustration against the establishment etc. I am just saying that his base won't really have a problem with these racist tweets, but they would be losing their mind if it had been tweets supportive of black panthers/ terrorists etc.

You're stereotyping all Trump supporters as okay with racism and then trying to say that's why they voted for him. Do you have any proof that Trump's base is racist (we're talking majority because every parties have some racism tied to it)? Do you have any proof that if the s/o of someone was a Black Panthers supporter or a terrorist supporter that they'd lose their mind over it? Please, no feelings and just the facts.

And the way you've worded this is poorly. You make it appear as if any normal person wouldn't be offended by support of the Black Panthers and especially terrorists. I'd extend that to people supporting fascism, communism, the Klan or any other stupid groups.

also:

They were pointing something out another user actually said.

I guess you just want to forget people to respond to others directly. You're (t)rolling in here trying to destroy the conversation to find some way to dismantle a poster that has been pretty damn reasonable with their posts?

For the OP:

Some of those tweets are pretty reactionary and convoluted. She must be fun at parties /s

I wouldn't hire her husband based on her statements because I want to protect my employees and when their SO makes that difficult then it might be easier to find another with similar skills and talents.

You know despite the apprehension I had with Trump from the the beginning, at first I didn't think he was a racist. I had seen him hang out with Mike Tyson and some people of note vouched for him. Now after all that has come out and all the people he has surrounded himself with he is the icon of white supremacy.

No the icon for white supremacy is the Nazi flag.

Trump seems to flip through people in office faster than anything I've ever seen. Just because this lady made some dumb ass comments doesn't mean Trump is a racist. He probably won't last 5 months if hired.

That's exactly what I'm trying to ascertain. To the Trump supporters that are saying its ok because she wasn't hired, I'm asking if the situation was reversed, and instead of racist tweets but they were marxist/jihadist/black supremacist etc, would you still say "its ok because she isn't being hired"?

Why does not being able to say the N-word such a problem for her? Normal people wouldn't give a shit.....

There are two possibilities here:

1. She wants to be allowed to say the n word and is jealous of black people for it.

2. She wants no one to say it and is calling out double standards and hypocrisy.

Which is more likely?

I don't think she's complaining about not being able to use the word in casual conversation. But it's kind of weird when Kendrick Lamar invited a white fan on stage and then scolded her for repeating his own lyrics.

I don't listen to that type of music, so it doesn't affect me. I think anyone that uses the N word comes off poor;y Rap and Hip Hop have mainstreamed the word. It doesn't seem as taboo as it used to be in decades past. I have some Mexican American acquaintances that throw the N word around like it's nothing. Wynton Marsalis said that Rap's prolific use of the N word, and bitches, and hoes, does more damage to the black community than any Confederate statue.

I like this post, because you're actually engaging in discussion and what you said is valid, BUT who are we to say when black people can or can't say an anti-black slur? Plus I would believe this was her intention if she didn't also support the confederate flag, which symbolised a nation that pretty much used the n word to dehumanize black people and justify their oppression. Not the only nation mind you, but the nation of people willing to die to keep black people as slaves.

But do you support the hiring by Trump?

If those tweets were from a blood family member or in-laws I would say it could possibly be some crazy or fine person on the other side depending on your point of view.

A spouse I would say is a little different as there is a choice. You can bang a racist, not date them, if you marry them, then I'd say there are red flags there.

Not really shocked though. Trump all over the gaf anyway.

What white people and black people? There was black people who had & sold slaves, not only black slaves, but white slaves too. Could those people say the N word?

And also, the inmense majority of white people never had slaves. Can their descendents said the N word then? what about the descendent of someone who had his mother raped and murdered by black people? Can that person say the N word because it's historically justified then?
