Good news but Paladino getting 2 votes in support is problematic as hell. That means there's two people on that board who dont find 1920s style Klan rhetoric to be disqualifying commentary from someone in a position of authority and influence over children.

2/8 seems kind of representative of the amount of people who voted for Trump in the US.

Nope, not over yet:

The vote touches off what could be a lengthy process for the commissioner to collect all of the relevant information and issue a ruling.

The commissioner’s legal staff will not review the petition until the person charged has filed a response. That process usually takes about eight weeks after the original petition is filed, unless the parties receive extensions.

Once the file is completed, the commissioner’s Office of Counsel tries to issue a decision within six to eight months, or eight to 10 months after the petition was filed, according to its website. But with hundreds of petitions to the commissioner filed every year for a variety of actions, there is no guarantee of a specific time frame.
By appealing to the commissioner, the board declined to exercise its own authority to remove Paladino, something that has been done in other districts.

More on those two Paladino allies;they had this to say at the voting session:
[Paladino supporter] Patti Pierce said she hoped the people in Buffalo could show Paladino some forgiveness for his comments and “take a page out of the horrific massacre that happened in Charleston, South Carolina, where nine innocent people in a house of worship were slain by a hateful, hate-filled man.”

The comparison drew gasps from the audience and was too much for one woman, who left shouting that it was offensive to use the murdered African-American congregation members in this situation.

“Although I do think [Paladino] has a racial filter from time to time, I don’t know that it’s that much different from many people on this board,”[Larry] Quinn said. The school board is majority black.

He also recounted a moment of racial understanding he had when he was younger, telling a story about the black woman his father hired to look after him when his mother was ill.

This fucking dingbat. That hate-filled man was rightly punished for his actions as Paladino should be. This is without mentioning that laughing about black people as wild men to be returned to Africa is something Roof and Paladino would have shared a laugh about. This is probably the only time this idiot has even given that massacre a second thought since it fucking happened.

What the hell.....

It's just like that movie The Help, Slay. Doesn't it just fucking melt your heart. How can someone who had a black nanny hold racist ideals?

The comparison mentioned here is absolutely insulting to the victims that attack, it's way worse than the usual "give x a second chance" shit.

What's more, the comment is even dumber considering the fact that Paladino has made multiple shitty remarks prior to this one.

Does he think a story like this makes things seem better for him? If anything it makes him look LESS remorseful, tone deaf, and even MORE racist.

People with shit spewing out of their mouths are hired and made in charge of educating children. What a world we live in.

I wish these assholes stayed in McDonalds while the rest of the good, honest, hard working people would be moved to teach how to be more respectful.

It's not about being blunt or an ass, it's about teaching respect.

Those types of stories usually tend to follow or preface racist statements. They're a sub-category of the old "but I have a black friend" defense.

Just saw that. That is good to hear. Words do have consequences even in a Trump Presidency.

Reading the article, you can tell that agency is screwed up. Led by a woman whose previous job was that of make-up artist? Two of her sisters also just so happen to have jobs at the agency too? Sounds like serious nepotism was going on there.

Good to hear that a larger agency is coming in to try and clean it up.

There are a whole lot of things out there that people believe that you would think would not make sense to anyone, but there's always a few that you find hold idiotic ideas.

I'm Hispanic but other than the Taco Bell dog I have never been described as any other animal.

"I did not know it was racist"

They can choose when referring to black people to dogs, rats, cats, elephants, zebras, sloths, bears, birds, etc. But it's always primates, they're not intentionally racist though.

Perfect! Being unemployed should give him lots of free time in which to continue his fight. Win/win I say!

He's a millionaire local developer, destabilizing the buffalo school system is just a hobby for him. and a way for him to leverage his purchases of charter school buildings in the area.
