Trump-Russia probe now includes possible cover-up, Congress is told

Look at this man.

He came to defend America.

He makes me think of the Unsolved Mystery guy, Robert Stack, and the iconic voice he hosted the program with.

A new election would seem fitting but they still have the line of succession. The line of succession should only work if the President dies. If he quits or impeached a new election should be run.

In this case that would probably make sense since it involves so many people as well as the election itself. But if Bill Clinton had been removed from office, it wouldn't have had anything to do with Al Gore or anyone else.

When Trump comes back from abroad and issues a half dozen pre-emptive pardons, I look forward to Ryan saying 'well he has the authority.'

Replying to @chrislhayes
MSNBC: WH has ordered a box of pre-printed pardons, so Trump can just fill in the name.
Ryan: Look I can't comment on every print shop order

Sad because it's true

If Trump issues a mass amount of Pardons, and really Trump doesn't care about his image so long as his Base is there, and Congress doesn't budge(assuming Republicans maintain the house), then what?

I feel like we're going to get some defectors any minute.

Trump's lackeys in the White House HAVE to see the writing on the wall at this point. Why stick around and go down with the buffoon?

Time to lawyer up and start lookin for deals.

Many of them are true believers in the GOP cause of screwing people over, and many of them are probably also implicated with Russian influence like Pence.

Oh, goddamnit, you're right - and now I'm going to inevitably associate Mueller with Ultra Magnus. Well, they're both no-bullshit types, sticklers for the rules....

If this manages to reach a conclusion anything like what we're all hoping for here, the future documentaries and movie re-enactments will be glorious.

Moments in history often just flash quickly on by, but this has been protracted enough to be able to clearly see that we are living a significant moment in history that will be looked at for decades to come. It's amazing.

Too bad it's otherwise an awful time.

I'm of the mindset to say that we should be out for blood. All of the Republicans that was grandstanding and said that they don't see a need for an independent investigation, while ignoring the plumes of smoke bellowing from D.C...., there is a serious dereliction of duty here in the name of party over country. I hope that this investigation reaches all of them.

I share your mindset. The republican party should be buried in an unmarked grave for its crimes.

Hopefully, or at least the long shot that their constituents realizes what big pieces of shit they are

(Summary)

thanks for that!

it's mindboggling what's going on, it reads like a script of a movie, unreal.

So, if everything runs its natural course, what will happen?

I see "impeachment" thrown around but I can't really see it happening, I think the politcal world of the USA (White house, congress, etc) is

A) too proud to admit a fuck up of such proportions.

B) too scared to go with it and face all sorts of consequences

So, how likely is it that all of this will eventually lead up to nothing? I feel like Trump has been able to get away with a lot, so I'm pretty pessimistic.

I just think today's GOP has next to no dignity or ethics compared to the GOP of the past.

Trump made it so much worse for himself - it's like ridiculous. Such a witless guy is the president of the US. He will absolutely be nailed for attempting to suppress the investigation.

He'll most likely be impeached but this doesn't necessarily mean he's out of office. Nixon and Clinton were both impeached but Bill served the rest of his term and Nixon resigned. It's likely that with his ego and background Trump will resign Nixon-style after pardoning everyone he can.

Can pardons be denied or taken away?

Not so far as I can tell. They can be rejected by the recipient, but acceptance comes as an admission of guilt.

Yep, the whole party is fatally compromised.

Um, that's not true.

Nixon wasn't impeached - he resigned before he could be.

Clinton was impeached but the house but not convicted by the senate - the vote passed the house, which starts the impeachment process, but he wasn't convicted by the senate which requires a 66 vote majority. It's actually a bit silly that people refer to the vote in the house as "impeaching" someone as without the vote in the senate it's meaningless.

If you are actually impeached by the house and senate, you are immediately removed from office. That's what impeachment is.

I was more referring to impeachment as the procedure than the final product, but these are definitely more insightful points.

I love that Trump firing Comey only made things worse for him. These dumbasses thought they were in the clear and now shit is worse for them than it's ever been.

Things are accelerating way to fast for this to lead to nothing. This is month 4 of 48. It's just unsustainable and this isn't going away

Worst comes to worst, this is still going to haunt Trump and the republican party in their elections.

Unfortunately I got banned from T_d back during the election. Wish I had a front row seat at their toxic circle jerking crybaby competition. Now that it's in bunker mode, I guess /Pol/ will have to suffice

This shit is fucking exhausting.

Watch the winner of the 2020 election run on a campaign promising "absolutely nothing. I'll be the most boring mother fucker you have ever seen".

America, please uninstall your right wing application.
It's severely outdated and keeps causing bluescreens and crashing the economy.

"But I use it for work"

No you don't. You haven't used it for work in decades.

You know when the inevitable movie happens based on these events, they're going to have to make Donald's character look significantly less stupid or else it wouldn't be believable.
