Trump setting new records for low presidential approval

Why do they keep reporting on these when it's like 1 percentage point difference from the last one? Just wake me when he hits 25% approval or something.

I'd enjoy his race to the bottom if it didn't mean our nation as a whole was sinking with him.

You might be getting a call from Trump soon. Sounds like he needs a new cheerleader after the last one quit, saying the job was impossible.

In America what do you have to do to get below 30%?

I look at this and think that 34% of people will stand by their president no matter how bad he is, and that is a very big problem.

Standing out in the middle of fifth avenue and eating an aborted fetus might lose him some of the white evangelical vote, but I'm not exactly sure even that would do it.

Lots of varying factors, but it's mostly by a) fucking up tremendously on the international stage (whether that be a shit war, botched operation, poor relations with other countries); b) large political scandals and c) poor handling of domestic issues and emergencies (healthcare, natural disasters, etc).

Trump already has ticked all of these boxes and will most assuredly to more harm in A and C. I honestly think B is the least of his re-election worries. He's already proved that scandals hardly stick to him. If the Russia thing takes him down, it'll be because public opinion has turned on him so badly that the GOP sees profit in dumping him.

Regardless, he will probably never get worse than 26-30%.

A third of the country is still with him. And just hearing sound bites from NPR on saying he's "doing a good job" and "give it time", "it's just his personality" is infuriating

Since we're at 9% American support of Actual Nazis, he probably already hit the floor.

9% of people who would openly admit to support of Nazis.

Add in a couple of points for people who support Nazis, but don't want to own it.

We'd have to have proof of Trump being an active pedophile for him to go under 25%, I feel.

They don't give a shit about fetuses, really. Time and time again, they've proven that with their views on brown people and poor babies.

They just want things to be the same as they were for the last 400 years. Women being domestic slaves is one thing they will never let go of.

They might denounce Trump's baby eating for a few seconds. But they'll support him even if he claimed to be the fucking Antichrist. Again-- they don't actually believe anything. They've trained themselves to ignore reality in order to maintain their identity.

This is why he hasn't gone lower. Someone on my Facebook feed made this their profile pic.

No.

People need to see and hear about this every fucking week so they're reminded how horrible he really is.
Poll says Trump approval at 37%
Poll says Trump approval at 35%
Poll says Trump approval at 36%

It's noise at this point. People don't pay attention to noise and will just tune these polls out since we're inundated with them every other day it seems. We really don't need to be reminded of how awful he is; he does a good enough job of that on his own.

His approval has actually been dropping though.

This will have ramifications for the 2018 midterms as well as any other special elections, off-year elections (Virginia and New Jersey are holding their state elections in less than three months), Democratic and Republican strategies, etc.

It's news.

And yes, people need to be reminded of how awful he is. Every time one of his bills blows up, or he bungles the response to Charlottesville, his approval ratings keep nudging down. Don't assume that everyone is that tuned in.

Wait, is tolerating racial supremacy because it benefits me and automatically treating other races as more in the wrong than my own race in every conflict racist?

Oh, fuck

It's easier to see the complete downward trend through 538's aggregate collection of polls.

It's great for historical purposes, for public policy purposes, and for "are the administration's actions having a positive or negative effect on the American public's perception of the administration."

Random noise it is not.

And Trump’s current approval rating of 34 percent is worse than Barack Obama’s ever was.
I hope the media repeats this as much as possible. Anything Obama related really gets under Trump's skin

Only once, in 1852, to Franklin Pierce. He was the 14th president, two slots before Lincoln. History generally views him as one of the worst presidents. Although the guy who beat him, James Buchanan is usually right at the bottom of the list with him (and the third guy who is usually in the running for worst is the guy who came immediately AFTER Lincoln).

Anyway, yeah... ol' Franklin was bad enough that his own party didn't even re-nominate him for his second term.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_1856

Also, note that Pierce was a Democrat, but FYI for anyone who doesn't know it, Democrats were pro-slavery and Republicans were anti-slavery at the time. Basically:

Then

Republicans - socially progressive city slickers, but pro business
Democrats - socially regressive country folk, but pro labor

Now

Democrats - socially progressive city slickers who are pro labor
Republicans - socially regressive country folk who are pro business

Wasn't Franklin Pierce also a distant ancestor of Dubya through Barbara Pierce Bush?

It seems like it's been at 34% or so for awhile now. Or maybe it's that each day of the presidency feels like a month. God he sucks.

I said a few weeks ago that I thought it would eventually bottom out at around 20-25%. Despite what's happened in the last two weeks and there not being any big movement in approval numbers, I want to say now it'll probably bottom out at around 30% which is very disturbing. 1 out of 3 people approve of this idiot
