President Trump’s escalating attacks on the judicial branch drew denunciation Wednesday from his Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, who told lawmakers that the attacks were “demoralizing” and “disheartening” to the independence of the federal courts.


“He certainly expressed to me that he is disheartened by the demoralizing and abhorrent comments made by President Trump about the judiciary,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D- Conn.) told reporters after meeting privately with Gorsuch.


Gorsuch’s comments to Blumenthal were confirmed by Ron Bonjean, a member of the judge’s “sherpa” team, a group of aides tasked with helping him navigate the confirmation process.


Earlier in the day, Trump continued his days-long crusade against the judicial branch, after a Seattle judge halted his controversial executive order barring immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries.


Now, a three-judge panel in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is currently deliberating on whether Trump’s executive order should be allowed to continue.

souter was a blank slate, gorsuch is pretty clearly paleoconservative.

Well at least we know he's a human being. You prop up this guy as your pick for the Supreme court and than talk about how much you hate the courts. How the hell else would he react?


I'm just going to assume any repubican judge that doesn't side with him will be branded a traitor?

Gorsuch doesn't owe Trump anything. Surprisingly, of everyone that Trump nominated, he's the most qualified one in their respective position. But I'd like to believe that Judges have some sort of fraternity and Trump essentially discredited the very job that Gorsuch has been doing his entire life.
