Trump takes shots at Kaepernick, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field’

Wow, holy shit Cowboys

So I guess the Pats are forever the bad guys now

Oh. Well. If people booed, they still did it right.

It's actually genius. It completely separated the protest from the "controversy". I'm sure Jones didn't intend for it to shine such a bright light on the fact that this is really about black people not being thankful for what they've got.

What did they do during the anthem?

Stood up and linked arms. I feel as though the kneeling before the anthem was done as a photo op than anything else. It just didn't feel genuine...especially when you were watching Jerry's expressions.

I guess it's better than what Cardinals team did...which was stood up the whole duration.

Cowboys with the fucking KO. Wow. Amazing.

I mean. I'm a white dude from the midwest so maybe it isn't my place to say this but isn't this pretty fucking disingenuous? Takes it away from the anthem and stands up with the entire team as a white billionaire who has no fucking idea what Kaep and minorities face. It's like he totally coopted this to be about him and his ilk because the President hurt his feefees.

Cowboys all took a knee before the anthem and still got booed during it.

The Dallas Cowboys took a knee Monday prior to the national anthem, but stood for the performance with locked arms. The Arizona Cardinals did the same, joining a lengthy list of NFL athletes who protested in some form during playings of the national anthem prior to Week 3 games after Donald Trump made divisive comments throughout the weekend.

Joining the Cowboys for the kneel prior to anthem — which drew boos from the Arizona crowd — was owner Jerry Jones and coach Jason Garrett.

Jerry fucking Jones took a knee, maybe it wasn't during the anthem but the Carolina Panthers organization should be fucking embarrassed right now. what a disgrace of an organization. my sports fandom runs deep, not even gonna lie, but I'm done with this team. I'll watch the super bowl if they make it (LOL) but I'm not having their shit. peppers was the only one that did something and it was some half measure stay in the locker room bullshit but respect to him anyway because reading the tea leaves he was most likely pressured not to take a knee and wanted to do something.

Depends what they say after. if it's just an F You to Trump, then it amounts to nothing. If its a recognition and ackonwledgement of issues Kaepernick knelt for originally, then thats a W.
All of this depends on what they do after. At a certain point it doesn't matter if someone sat, kneeled, or crossed arms.

That's some Blue Lives Matter type shit there.

Yes support the troops but why did it have to be about that this time? I know why, I'm not actually asking. Oh look we did something, or, oh hey, we did nothing and supported our troops! Depends on who asks.

I'm telling you it was a stroke of genius. Now kneeling BEFORE the anthem is enough to get you booed. Let's be honest about what this is really about.

Jerry Jones at least embraces his players regardless of their warts.

Jerry Richardson is the same fucker that told Cam he better not get tattoos.

"Ungrateful N.I.G.G.E.R.S."

Only the White extemists will say that verbatim, but ALL Trump voters and a portion of independents and Democrats think it subconsciously.

Kneeling at any point in time is disrespectful!
/s ... this is meant to be mocking those now angry about kneeling before the anthem

They got booed. The racists in the crowd obviously don't think it was a nothingburger. Also, as a fuck you to Trump it does mean something that someone like Jerry Jones even knelt for a little bit considering he is an obvious Trumper.

Of course Jerry did conveniently get to do this in another stadium

In a way, it did kind of expose that the booing isn't because it's "disrespecting the anthem."

It's because, "They are supposed to be entertaining us! GET BACK TO WORK"

Well, maybe that line of thought but with some more racial epithets.

if kneeling *before the anthem* also gets you boo'ed, doesn't that suggest that opposition to kneeling was never about the anthem?

Things that make you go hmmmm...

No, it shows publicly that the people boo don't actual care of disrespecting the flag. They are pissed that people are doing a symbolic protest no matter when it is done.

Literally no one truly thought any of the opposition was about the anthem or the flag. Not even the ones doing the booing truly think that.

It's about racism.

But what they *say* is it's direspecting the flag / soldiers / whatev

Obviously, everybody knows what that actually mean. They think it's actually pretty OK to indiscriminately kill black people.

Look, not everyone is going to want to protest during the National Anthem. White people and other races just don't have the same stakes in the protest as people of color. They might agree that police brutality against people of color is an major issue and that racial injustice exist, but might take issue with protesting during the National Anthem. What players who chose to protest during the anthem and not participate wanted is to not be told they couldn't do it or be fired. And they at least wanted solidarity with those sentiments.

Not once did Colin Kaepernick ask any of his team members to join him in protest. Those were his personal convictions.

Bingo the other side to both sides

Then they should come out and do nothing. These half measures and flaccid statements does nothign but muddy or belittle the issue

Deadspin article is wrong as fuck. At the very least this provides a data point for people to say "NO, quit your bullshit, look at how the Cowboys were treated for kneeling during absolutely nothing".

This is different though. This reeks of Jerry Jones telling his team "ok, you can all kneel but not during the anthem or your on the shitlist"

Did any of the Cowboys' players kneel during it?

sure, but they shouldn't try and co opt what kaepernick did then. if it's not about bringing attention to racial injustice in america and is only about giving the finger to donald trump because he hurt the NFL's feelings don't kneel and don't act like you're doing some grand gesture when it's really just a self serving one.

This was always about a black person daring to make a statement that America isn't the greatest fucking country in the world, which offended Trump voters who think America is a shithole that he needs to make great again. But he's not black so he's allowed to criticize, and reverse racism is worse than real racism (which doesn't even exist anymore because we had a black president).

I mean I'm sure that's what it was, but Jones could have been like some other owners and threatened them to do nothing.

Instead he showed solidarity with them before the anthem. More than I ever expected from him.

I think it still accomplishes a lot and is pretty powerful having all of them including Jerry Jones who m any were hating on just hours ago (and probably rightly so). If Trump and his blind supporters still attack the cowboys for this show then it really cements the fact that it is all about racism and not about the anthem at all, even if that is pretty clear to many people already.

Again, I think it depends on how Jones responds afterwards. It's gonna get a lot of attention, and I can see this dude pulling some bullshit with his reasoning.
