This seems like some of the anti-poor shit, bootstrap, Randian bullshit that Paul Ryan blasts loads over. And Trumps hearing these loads being blown down the hall and he's like, "Paul, there's come everywhere!"

And the Ryan is all, "I just thought of a new way to screw the poor over! We'll tax food stamp use so stores have to charge the poor more! That'll get those xbox playing losers into the coal mines."

And Trump says, "I usually come a lot more when I get those ideas, Paul. My ideas are better, too. The best ideas. "

"Oh yeah," says Ryan as he approaches Trump.

"Yeah, I bet I can fuck the poor over harder and come twice as hard as you'll ever hope to."

They cross their erections as they stand face to face.

...To be continued.

You can't just leave me like that...

The only thing this will result in is fewer retailers participating resulting in reduced shopping choices for program participants. I'm not sure that he needs Congress for this, either. It's possible that the regulations regarding retailer requirements could be updated via the rule change process. Not 100% on that.

He's hurting his mythical small businesses owning base more actually here. They're the ones getting fined in this proposal. Big chains can eat the costs easy.

More Republican hypocrisy.

His base cares more about dem literal tears and false projection of their superiority via race than their own livelihoods.

Not only will this fuck things up for the poor, but pretty much ensure that smaller businesses won't be able to set up shop near areas where the poor live. If they're so god fucking damned concerned about how the poor live, then how about providing them with more resources to be able to lift themselves out of poverty instead of adding yet another set of shackles for them.

A lot of retailers depends on food stamps as a large source of their revenue. I suspect most will just raise prices in accordance.

Because poor people are lazy.

Depending on how it is set up this might not be a bad thing. If only companies that take $x million dollars in food stamps get charged then it seems fair seeing as they really shouldn't be profiteering off people barely subsisting. Probably won't go down like that though of course.

I don't use food stamps anymore but this shit is infuriating.
Barriers should be broken down when it comes to food stamps, not adding more barriers.

I mean if Kroger are taking in say $800 million a year from SNAP, I don't see how charging them $50 million has any effect other than on a huge corporations bottom line. People still get to use SNAP, company still makes a profit, and some corporate profits are redirected back into the public sector where they originally came from anyway.

The grocery industry already rides on thin margins, so guess who's going to pay for it? That's right, the middle class, as the stores will just push trumps fees on all food sold.

Wow, this guy is a complete enemy of United Stated.

You know the saying, rich get richer .... he is trying to mandate poverty to new level.

As a non American I find the whole idea behind food stamps repulsive. You are shaming the poor while providing assistance. Studies from several countries show that if you just have them the cash you build up their self esteem and provide them with more control over their own lives. Couple that with social workers who help with budgeting and you help set the poor up for more success and even future employment if capable.

But since this is all they have in the US this is even worse than the food stamp program as you are punishing grocers for assisting. This is so awful and it's amazing how worse the United States has become in such short period.

We don't trust our poor with actual money. They'll just spend it all on avocado toast or iphones. /s

This whole thing is so transparent. I'm interested to hear the spin.

Right, they would either pay the fine which adds to their expenses, or they reject food stamps and lose a chunk of their clientele.

Food-stamps are a subsidy to neighborhoods with low economic growth.

Not just the people who use it but also the businesses that accept them.

Having been on food stamps before, the way these people assume the worst from anyone who has to use it is depressing. my mom used to buy me school lunch with it at the corner Bodega because I couldn't buy school food.

I heard Trump can only get an erection if he is locking eyes with a poor person he screwed over, and even then it takes him hours of self-flagellation and jerking it. The time is cut in half if the poor person is brown.

Dang. Must be nice to be able to be so chipper about ideas that are literally evil.

Well I hope it means less food stamps and more money to the poor, food stamps make no sense to me as I am not American, just give the poor the money to buy what they need instead of food stamps.

But the poor just want to buy lobster and steak. Hell, why should anyone ever work if you can sit at home watching tv all day and still have steak for dinner.

I read this exact argument on my FB wall today. Sigh...

It is the opposite of this. Trump also wants to slash things like payments to the disabled or programs that help pay for healthcare for children.

On what planet do you live bro/sis

Well I live in Singapore and tbh our government here can do alot more to help the poor.. but no we don't have food stamps not by the government at least, there was this nice food seller who gave out coupons to all the older folks in the area to get a free packet of food every day. Small country here and government really needs to do more but no we don't have food stamps.

There is an allowance given to the poor but you need to prove that you have no family members who are working etc... We are encouraged to work to our graves literally lol

The fact that Trump puts forth proposals like this is why "discourse" is becoming so slanted against the right. His plans are just demonstrably terrible on such a basic level, and usually quite apparent in their hatred of minorities or the poor.

"FUCK THE POOR.

They are a vile smudge on what should be a fantastic country."

His next step should just be mass genocide of the lower class. Because, you know, they are people too and they don't deserve fair treatment in this country.

You just described the GOP plan to deal with climate change. They haven't come to that conclusion yet, but they're briskly working towards it.

I hope people are okay with this, since, you know, they didn't feel energised to vote for Clinton.

Implying that Clinton herself isn't in the pocket of big businesses.

Granted, the Dems haven't moved far right enough to pull shit like this yet. Give them a few more years as the US center continues to move further and further right.

Dear Trump voters: I hope that by now you've realized the mistake you've made. If not, there's no helping you anymore. You are the scum of the earth.

This. There was no more excusing Trump after the first time he opened his mouth on the election run. Now if you still support him, I consider you hopeless and an active threat to lives other than your own.

There really is no point to any of this other than being an actually evil dickhead. Imagine walking around with that much hatred, and that hatred being strong enough to fuel you all the way into the White House.

The only thing GOP cares about is their own wallets. This is the general rule at this point. There should be no confusion from anyone as to what the GOP agenda is. It's "making money by any means necessary" which includes taking away as much as possible from lower class individuals in which the GOP sees as "dead weight" or "not worth caring about".
