Oh for sure, but I have a feeling the explanation will still not make sense haha

I'm not expecting anything being answered. If it's one thing we learned from the history of the first show they never intended to solve Laura palmers murder, and when they did the show tanked.

I'm not sure they will be solving anything for us really, but the format is different now so maybe something else should be expected.

Yep. People are unnecessarily complicating it.

Bob switched with Cooper, then created another copy to trick the system on Cooper's eventual return. That new copy used the following years to make a life for himself, unaware of his real origins.
Yeah, there seems to be confusion over this for some reason. I thought it was pretty clear Doug was created by Mr C to be pulled into the lodge in his place. I think it's reasonable to assume that the hitman were there to whack real Coop upon his return but they fucked it up and Mr C is now left somewhat compromised as a result.
The blind lady seemed to be in cahoots with Mr C too, she seemed intent on not letting Coop pass through the portal which was paired to Mr C and pulled the lever to switch it to Doug. This is what Mike was referring to when he tells Coop he was tricked.

My only problem with the show is it feels like there's too either too much directing from Lynch, or he's going too much with the flow. When I watch characters mechanically walk onto the scene and speak a line, it feels like they're possessed by Lynch and he's passing it off as "Well they're curious!!" It feels like awkward directing to me.
He's not going for realism. Lynch is a stylist first and foremost, so the strange details are there to evoke a mood and the feeling of a unique universe.

In Episode 1 (or perhaps 2?) when Hawk speaks to the Log Lady on the phone and is out in Glastonbury(berry?) Grove...

That scene, on the third viewing, stood out to me because it seemed out of sequence. 'The stars aligned and a chance presented itself' - presumably the Lodge opening as signified by the red curtain appearing. Did Hawk see it? And if so, why is he straight back to going through the files with Lucy and Andy as if nothing strange happened?

It seemed like a really significant scene. And then...not?
I wonder if this moment really is out of sequence and some time shifting shenanigans are afoot.

I am sort of stressing a little bit about the Blu-Ray release.

If it doesn't have both versions of Part 1 and 2 and Part 3 and 4 I am going to be upset.

I presume we'll have the same thing with 17 and 18 too. I'm definitely enjoying them more as two hour long pieces. It's really interesting to me that there are these slightly different edits already.

I just hope to heck the physical release offers BOTH versions.

I'm just going to be frank and say you're a weirdo.

I'm just going to be frank and say you're a weirdo.

I want to be able to own both versions. Heck, I want the alternate Japanese versions of the scenes from the original series as an option too.

But yeah, I'm a weirdo. No argument from me there. I preferred the versions that were combined verses separate and hope to be able to own those.

Saying anything is right or wrong at this point seems kind of premature, they're all just different takes at this point.

Kind of like the DoppelCoop and Bob stuff. People saying it's wrong to think Bob is possessing DoppelCoop and stuff just seems crazy at this point.

It's not the speculation stuff, it's the stuff they recap that's wrong that gets me.

Like, I'm listening to Part 3 podcast right now and they seemed to miss that it's the DOPPELGANGER of the arm that throws Coop into the void.

Edit: Where can one find this AC/DC theory?

That was one thing I noticed too lol, though that could really just be a miss on how they're conveying it. It'd be really hard to miss that it was a doppelganger with how that scene was set up.

She wouldn't need to be a mad scientist if she had the monies. She'd pay the experts to do the experty stuff.

I mean I love the idea of Audrey being a billionaire, because it would mean that she'd have eclipsed her Father's business acumen. This could just be a pet project for her if she was truly a billionaire with millions and millions of dollars to spare, whether it's focused on Cooper or not.

Also we have no idea what Mr C may or may not have done to her. She'd certainly have been someone ripe for him to cause pain and suffering to.

It's probably not that though.

I'm not down with this spoiler tagging theories... because there's so many possibilities in every facet of the show, and I certainly couldn't predict what was going to happen in each part.
Well, yeah. Either way, it requires her to suddenly become more involved in the weirdness of Twin Peaks than characters for whom it's part of their job or the background of their dorky secret society (*teardrop gesture*). It sounds contrived and way too convenient. Surely there's room for more rich folks in this new, larger world.

I also don't care about Audrey being even richer because Business Audrey is a dull Audrey. When she was at her best, she was a very strange person who was never really defined by her wealth. I hope she's into some weird stuff which none of us could predict.
Though if she has to be a well-adjusted grown up, it would be neat if she dedicated her life to helping people like Johnny. There are many directions they could go in with her character that are more interesting than using her to bankroll a MacGuffin.

Agreed about the spoiler tags. It's only going to cause issues if Sky Atlantic keeps screwing up and making episodes available a week before everyone else.

Watching ep4 again. Big laugh at Coops pissing scene, especially when you remember Bobbys comment about his back teeth swimming since he had to pee badly too. Thats probably how I'd react after 25 years of holding it in.

Best part is his reaction when he first starts pissing and he's like OH GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING and starts wriggling around lmao

"Is it future or is it past?"

I recall media outlets before the premiere quoting Lynch (or was it Frost?) saying how people should keep their eyes peeled for clues/information, and once the season was over, people would be going back through it to see how it all pieced together.

I didn't realise it until it until this weekend when it was brought up in this thread.

The tree's amorphous-blob-shaped head changing colour really isn't an obvious thing to pick up on.

Here's what I've got so far, reposted for anyone who missed it underneath all the spoiler tags. Dates are theoretical... but order should be there or thereabouts.

Mid February 2014... Coop arrives back in time in NYC after being thrown into the nonexistence by the Doppelganger Arm. Sam and Tracy get killed. Cooper falls down into the purple place and is stopped going into the outlet marked 15 and is lead up onto the space box by the woman without eyes who throws a lever...
02-20-14 Thursday. Night of the school meeting. Ruth Davenport gets murdered.
02-21-14 Ish. Mr C hires Ray and Darya.
02-22-14 Saturday. Bill gets arrested. Phylis gets murdered by Mr C.
02-27-14 Dougie goes AWOL at work and at home. Diner scene with Mr C, Ray, Darya and Jack
02-28-14 Mr C kills Jack. Kills Darya that night. Downloads information on the Prison where Ray is being held. Hawk goes walking in the woods and talks to Margaret on the phone.
03-01-14 Coop meets Laura in the lodge, Leland, the good arm, and then as he is about to swap places with Mr C (at 2:53PM) is thrown back in time by the doppelganger Arm. Dougie is having sex with Jade. Mr C is hauling ass. Coop arrives back from the space box, and is sent into the outlet marked 3. Swaps with Dougie. Mr C vomits everywhere and is subsequently taken to prison for reasons currently unknown. Dougie/Coop evades assassination and goes and plays slot machines at the Silver Mustang. Agent Tammy Preston gets back from NYC and reports on her findings there. Albert and Gordon find out that Mr C has been taken to the prison in South Dakota (same one where Ray was taken).
Dougie/Coop gets taken home to Lancelot court, and meets Janey-E.
03-02-14 Dougie/Coop has pancakes and coffee for breakfast with Janey-E and Sonny Jim. Cole meets with Denise. Cole, Gordon and Tammy fly to South Dakota and meet with Mr C. Cole and Gordon discuss the meeting twilight that night.

The sheriff's office stuff is almost impossible to place at this point. Lucy is wearing the same outfit in every scene so far which further confuses things.

If you slot in the 'night' scenes in Twin Peaks (including Road House performances), it throws everything else off... which makes me think the stuff we're seeing in Twin Peaks isn't happening perfectly in order with everything else where we're given dialogue that grounds us around *when* the switch is supposed to take place. 'Day after next', 'Tomorrow', obviously Mr Jackpots plays slots, goes home that night and gets up the next day.

At some point the Twin Peaks scenes are going to slot in with everything else though.

The March 1st date comes from a tenuous place though. American Girl is wearing a watch that says SAT 01 above the time, when it ticks over to 2:53 PM and Coop and Dougie switch.

25 years after Laura Palmer's murder in February 1989 is 2014. 2014 only has two Saturday 1sts (March and October). March is closer to 25 years later and works better if we presume Wally (stated as 24 years old on screen) was conceived in January or early February, making a birthday prior to October 1st much more unlikely.

Of course, then you have the problem of Andy saying Wally was born on Brando's birthday, but that's *impossible* because Brando's birthday is in April, and Lucy finds out she is pregnant in late Feb / early March.

So, yeah. That's what I've got so far from paying attention to references to days of the week, or references to the day Mr C is supposed to go back in.

And obviously it isn't nighttime in NYC at 3:53 EST. We see daytime South Dakota through the curtains, then nighttime NYC when Sam and Tracy are about to get murdered, then daytime South Dakota again. Definitely some time travel! Also the day of the switch can't be the same day Sam and Tracy get killed, because Agent Preston gets back from NYC having looked into Sam and Tracy's death on the day of the switch. It's still daytime in Philadelphia when she shares her findings from NYC, and it's all but confirmed that that is the same day as Mr C's car accident.

The arm literally says 'Something is wrong! My doppelganger!' or words to that effect shortly before Coop is attacked by the doppelganger arm that had disguised itself as a statue.

Also to mention, Jade is the name of one of the characters on Invitation to Love, though I do think that's purely coincidence.

Even if it isn't, I don't think there's any relevance to it beyond just people having the same name sometimes.

Like Mike and Bobby and Mike and Bob.

Oh shiiiiet. So much happens in these 4 episodes that I completely forgot about that. What if Hawk went into the black lodge and his doppleganger came out, and he's just playing it cool for now?

You're right that afterwards it's as if nothing happened. Definitely intentional.

Altough I don't agree with most of the criticism from some users who don't like it I can understand what they mean. Even tough I am fucking loving it as fuck so far. It still has like 14 more episodes and doesn't finish untill around beginning of September. So it probably wil even get better and better. #team David

I thought that seemed really odd too. All that build up and then it's like Hawk was never there when they show him again. I expected him to at least have some reaction later if he did see the curtains.

I thought that scene with Hawk in the woods was just to show the lodge was reopening again, not necessarily that he could see it or was about to enter it.

I wanted to see him having tea with Margaret more than I wanted anything to happen with the curtains.

Either way we're all disappointed though.

If that is the case, then both Mr. C and Mike have been duped. Mr. C clearly is fighting to keep his garmonbozia in before Dougie expels his. Also someone had to have given Dougie the ring after his creation. Mike (if he is helping Coop) tells him that he was tricked and "something is wrong"

If what you say is coorect, that would mean that there is a 3rd party involved that had to have created Dougie and given him the ring AND have access to the black lodge. Right now, I'm leaning on it being Bob but as you say, its Twin Peaks...who knows? :p

In the Philip Jefferies Flashback in Fire Walk With Me, the Man From Another Place/Arm cryptically says "With This Ring I Thee Wed". If you wanna go super deep, he also comments that the table is "Formica" - which is an imitation material.

I think it's just called 'being a normal happy regular person!'

If we 'tier' Twin Peaks fandom, I'm probably S++ and *I* don't feel like a super fan because I know a bunch of people who are S+++ like Brad Dukes and Josh Eisenstadt and Spencer Collantes.

My wife knows *the page numbers* for her favorite bits in The Secret History of Twin Peaks and for the longest time didn't think she was really a fan because of me and our friends.

I've been thinking about it, and one thing from the original series that the new series really suffers from is the lack of Michael J. Anderson. He, his dancing, and the sleazy jazz music were so important to giving the Red Room its character.

His character and what it brought to the show were so much more mysterious and unsettling than any of the more straight forward spooky elements in the new series.
