I haven't laughed so much at an episode of TV in a long time, dumb Cooper was hilarious. Especially the casino sequence.

I think others here have mentioned it, but I checked the license plate of Dougie's car in episode 3. It really does look like the tag is '03.

I've done a Twin Peaks marathon this past two weeks, and the new series is nothing like what I expected. This is incredible and I love Lynch. I'm starting a Lynch marathon now to wait for the next episode. Watching Eraserhead just before I go to sleep might no be a great idea but who cares.

Also, the last time we saw The Man From Another Place in the original series, I think he said something to Cooper, like "When you see me again, it won't be me". That's some prescient shit from Lynch, my god.

Yeah, even though the line is clearly referring to his doppelgänger, it definitely works for his newfound form.

Lych has talked about dusting off his old season 3 notes when writing/planning this with Frost, so it's possible some threads set up in season 2 were always planned for exploration.

The 25 years thing is the best of coincidences though!

Can someone explain why Fire Walk with Me has been removed from the US iTunes store? It was available yesterday, in fact, I still have it on my iTunes Wish List. When I try to open it however, iTunes advises me it is no longer available.

I'm rewatching some Smallville, and in the first episode lol:

We've found the Black Lodge.

It is very fun to come back in here weekly.

yeah. i hate this wait but I've always found weekly shows to be much better for discussion and speculation and soaking it all in.

it tends to be kinda wack to see threads for streaming only shows where everybody is on episode 3, or 4, or 8 just all going off on tangents. and entire pages of posts looking like redacted CIA documents.

I think so too. I am sure when we reflect in future, discussions here or with friends as each episode comes out will make the waiting worth it.

If they released all 18 episodes at once I 100% would have marathoned all of them without any discussion or significant thought in between.

While in some ways I wish I could just binge the entire series, I do think there's appeal for the weekly format and I will say I'v come to like the episodes more and more with some more time to digest each one (though I loved them on first viewing too).

Though lord help us on whatever week they skip a week on, since that's already confirmed to be happening (probably going to be July 2nd).

There's a lot of coincidences that worked in this revival's favor, as Lynch would say, "It's cosmic, it's cosmic!"

Also while they confirmed they picked and chose some elements from their original Season 3 ideas and decided to go in different directions with them, I am 100% convinced Lynch actually went over all of his scrapped concepts. Like no joke, in these first four episodes alone there's a surprising amount being pulled from Ronnie Rocket & Saliva Bubbles, and I wouldn't be surprised if some things are being pulled from the original Mulholland Drive TV Show concept too. I don't mind one bit, but I get the feeling Lynch decided, "fuck it, I have funding and the freedom to do whatever and I'm not getting any younger, I'm gonna' bring to life several things I never got the chance to into Twin Peaks."

To see if it continues to be so in future episodes. I've talked about Ronnie Rocket some, but for Saliva Bubbles all the "baby" Cooper stuff has big call to Lynch and Frost's Saliva Bubbles script (this was the show they were going to make before TP which fell through but how they met each other), which the show was described as being "a dumb comedy", but with tinges of Lynch and Frost in it. And the Dougie stuff has serious vibes of Saliva Bubbles in it.

I mean I would've loved binging this but I'm okay with the weekly format for discussion purposes, that stuff's exciting. One episode a week though... I've been spoiled by the initial batch.

More evidence suggesting we should put to bed the silly notion that Lynch isn't hand picking the musical acts if we haven't already.

That's the Cactus Blossoms from Part 3, performing their song 'Change your ways or die' back in 2013, which is pretty dang close to 'Fix your hearts or die'. It also has a mention of sycamore trees.

ok I finally finished all 4 episodes.

Michael Cera was just ridiculous. I love how in that scene Andy and Lucy were just standing there with these big grins on their face like "Go on Wally!" Is this character supposed to be a reference to something?

Episode 4 just really felt like a classic Peaks episode. The scene where Bobby enters the evidence room and sees Laura's photo on the table... then the dark, foreboding classic TP music starts up... damn!

I also like how Gordon feels more fleshed out this time around. He was basically a one-note character in the original series (hard of hearing FBI agent for comic relief).

I just love taking in the characters, music (pretty sure every episode ended at the R&R with a band playing), the visuals. I think the story is very interesting and can't wait to see where it goes but I don't really get into the "analyzing every single frame for clues" that some fans seem to gravitate towards. To me, figuring out why everything is happening isn't really as interesting as experiencing the whole and letting the mood/tone of the show guide the viewer.

His character shares a birthday with Marlon Brando. His ridiculous outfit & bike is exactly like Brando in The Wild One.

Yup! It was great!

I agree with this.

I think it works on both levels, which honestly, makes it that much more special. You can dive into lots of the details (and feel fulfilled doing so) or just hang on for the ride that is Lynch. My enjoyment of it is somewhere in the middle of those two things.

Definitely. I don't mean to put down people who dive into the details like that. Just reading through some of the theories in here overwhelmed me and I tend to lean to the side of just taking it in and not over thinking it sometimes.

a question... so they keep alluding to two Sheriff Trumans... was the Sheriff Truman we see in episode 4 supposed to be the Truman from the original series, just recast? or I guess maybe that's part of the joke/mystery for now... we just don't know where Lynch is going with this? Maybe I'm not remembering something from the original series.

It's Harry Truman's brother, Franklin. Never discussed in the original series, but brought up in The Secret History of Twin Peaks.

More of a self-fulfilling prophecy than a coincidence. I think Frost has said that that line and the fact that the 25-year mark was just on the horizon got him and Lynch talking about possibly continuing Twin Peaks.

I know Andy says this, but I just don't see how.

Brando was born April 3rd. That really doesn't work... unless Lucy had a miscarriage and got pregnant again sharpish. Wally is 24. The show is 25 years later. It's pretty hard to make that birthdate thing true.

Or...Andy and Lucy are both a bit dense, and got Marlon Brando's birthdate mixed up with somebody else.

Same way they could get his age wrong. Something seriously weird is going on with Andy and Lucy, plenty of theories about that. Or perhaps it will never be explained...

If that isn't an intentional reference I'd be shocked.

Yeah, I was convinced that it had to be by two more things in the episode:

One character said, "Just because everyone else chooses to ignore the strange things that happen in this leafy little hamlet doesn't mean that they don't happen."

And especially when another said, "My money was on the evil-twin theory, till we checked the missing persons."

Never expected it from Smallville.

Damn... yeah, I buy it. That's definitely the inspiration for that line. Pretty good act this duo has, I must say.
