Twitch: Changes To Audio In VODS

So our top game streaming solutions in 2014 comprise of a service where you may have half-hour chunks of video muted for in-game music playing, and a service run by people who abandoned another sinking ship after they couldnt continue paying streamers and have 10x more obnoxious ads running over their streams.

The future looks bright.

RIP FGC

Dan was also playing with a mod that added more songs that weren't in the original release.

Twitch plays Pokemon a stream where only Pokemon songs are being used got hit, completely muted vods. Simple this tool they use doesn't care if its ingame or not.

Only funny thing would be if it also muted Steve Aoki vods.

As a twitch partner that just finished a full LP of Lollipop Chainsaw, this is distressing. My VODs haven't been popped yet but I assume it's coming.

I think so actually.

I was just looking through various speed run channels and I was hoping I wouldnt find anything :(

Looking through some other Punch Out videos, they don't seem to be muted. So we have our definite answer of how clumsy and dumb this system is if no one could tell already by what happened with Youtube.

YouTube is like a thousand times better than this actually.

I honestly have no idea how big Twitch is in the grand scheme, it's certainly no Youtube at least. Yea, they're being bought out for a billion (whatever that really means) but do they have enough mass to just barrel through this? I'm often surprised hearing about Twitch stuff from people I wouldn't think to know about it but it's a still focused on a gaming niche. Since the live portions are untouched for now, the Fred Dursts of the world streaming their CoD matches wont even notice the but they're hardly the source of the most views. I know Own3D popped up but that failed and now Hitbox is trying. Ustream has it's own set of issues as well.

lol how embarrassing, when the rights have been paid for (re: esports events) and still getting flagged

google pls

Lol Dan has a reply on their blog post

I can't log into twitch, I forgot my Google+ Password :-("

hitbox.tv is getting hammered. Got to make an account, but have trouble opening streams. Anyone else?

I expect the upcoming AMA will either ignore this issue or describe how this is a new system that is being implemented and that they are still figuring stuff out.

My main use of Twitch is speedrunners, well that's fucked now. VoD lenght caps, complete censorship if certain music is played so their commentary gets wrecked in the process. I hope this blows up real good.

Twitch is the fourth highest driver of internet traffic in the US behind Netflix, Google and Apple respectively. It was only a matter of time before the MPAA knocked on their doors. That being said, this implementation is pretty godawful.
