Edit: I posted this GIF because someone else posted it in another thread not long ago. I find this GIF hilarious. Never saw it ever.

This seems like a big F U to twitter. Basically spitting in their faces how easy it was. I don't think the BTC was the main end game here.

Anyways we all the real money is in Nigerian princes.
Twitter has to be the most entertaining medium ever.

And even better, when it comes to entertainment like sports, watching a movie, reading a book, YOU got to take the initiative to go out and do it or buy it.

But with Twitter, you just sit back and watch the action unfold as people post the funnies for you. Literally, you don't need a Twitter account (I don't), you don't need to search for Tweets (I don't unless I'm tagging onto a topic and contributing), it can involve text/audio/video, and it costs nothing.

The perfect form of entertainment!

I am in no way versed in cryptocurrency and how it works, but isn't that supposed to be one of its main appeals? That's why people use it for transactions in the deep web and such, isn't it?
Yeah I guess that's probably true. I've only ever used it once to play some online poker.

Obviously much bigger than a bitcoin scam.

This "tool" seems like a simple program, which allows you to search any user and assuming login credentials are revealed under the "account details" section gives you their account info.

A smart group would be farming everyone they possibly could for months on end before today. Collecting juicy info.

Twitter is going to have to do a full forced password reset for everyone.

They’re already blaming it on Trump:

On what could be called the worst day for the platform, it also can’t escape anyone’s notice that almost all of those targeted in this clearly coordinated cyberattack were one way or another not exactly the biggest supporters of Donald Trump – and ended up with almost as much digital egg on their face as Twitter itself. While not chump change, the around $300,000 haul that the perpetrators snagged using some very very VIP feeds almost indicates that money wasn’t the real aim here.

You guys didn't know about this? It's been around for years, this is one of the main complaints coming from the sex worker community about how accounts get shadow banned, etc.
Everyone knew it. Twitter and authoritarian leftists denied it. Now we have some semblance of proof here.

Tim Pool thinks China was behind it as kind of a warning shot to the country after the news in recent days. That they can get control of anyone social media whenever they want, so don't fuck with us.

So why did Twitter only lock down verified blue accounts?

Because those are more important people? Anyone who isn't verified, who gives a shit if their account got hacked?

Yeah, let's not pretend that throwing a rock into a room full of Twitter accounts doesn't give you a 98% chance of hitting someone who publicly states that they don't support Trump. It's fucking Twitter. It's the home of the Trump hater.

Before I saw this I was actually going to create my own ridiculous conspiracy theory that Trump put some people from the NSA on a secret mission to mess with Twitter. Then I see that he's already getting blamed in a different way lol.

Holy shit. I didn't even think of that. Everyone is thinking about the Bitcoin spamming.

Can't wait to see private messages. I hope the hacker plunged in deep and fast before getting locked out.
I don't think that the hacker sent those tweets and then looked at personal shit. For all we know, they could have been looking at those accounts for weeks/months. The only way we knew that those accounts were compromised was because of the bitcoin tweets.

Forget money, they could have changed the landscape of the country. If they had this access tool that allowed them to access any account, they could have went on Trump's and said "We are sending armed forces to attack China right now" or they could have just said "Fuck the [insert ethnicity here]" and there is not a single person on the left who would have believed Trump's account was hacked, it would have led off with every news agency in the country.

"Trump accidentally tweets "fuck the _____" and claims he was hacked.

And the president's account being hacked would've been a terrible look even if people did believe him, but CNN would've had experts on making shit up like "sources close to me say the president said his account can't be hacked" and Twitter of course would've probably lied and said "our records don't indicate any suspicious activity in the president's account."

Whoever this was probably could have changed history if they wanted to. I wonder if they realized that.

How long do you think the "hackers" had access to these admin privileges'?

I feel like they could have had access for weeks now and just did this to expose something.

Can’t wait to see what happens next, this gon be gud
