Twitter Thinks That Laura Ingraham Made a Nazi Salute During the RNC

I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt for pragmatic reasons.

Her facial expression is not helping that however. She looks like she has a troll face on when she was doing that part.

If you know anything about Laura Ingraham you would know this was 100% planned and practiced just to stir shit up. She's done and said stupid shit like this over the years just to poke and prod "the left".

why are people saying it's a shop?

that was literally the image of trump they had on screen at the time she made the gesture

It's a legit picture that you can find on Getty Images.

These should go in the OP, I think.

It's win-win for her. Riles up liberals, and signals to actual hateful bigots that she's someone to check out. She keeps laughing while cashing checks. Basic conservative business principles.

It doesn't look like a Nazi salute. Just awkward hand movement. I know it's the Republican party and she's a conservative and it's easy to think they're sympathetic to Nazism, and its easy to knock every stupid thing they do, but they're Americans foremost. And they're not going to be appealing to Nazis. KKK makes more sense.

Edit: Nvm, now that I think about the KKK glamorize Hitiler too?

You know your party is fucked up when a story about Laura Ingraham doing a Nazi Salute gaining traction is preferable to other news coming out of your convention gaining traction.

That probably was an accident, but it was still a Nazi salute. And with the stuff they have been talking about at the RNC the last few days, I can see why people would assume it wasn't.

I'm not sure if it was a freudian slip type deal, or if it was a troll job just to cause a stir. I'm leaning towards the latter. Her expression makes me think it was intentional.

She knew how that gesture would be perceived. She doesn't smile when she does it instead she has an expression that says "this is taking some guts, but yeah, I''m doing this". Maybe I'm overinterpreting here but us Germans unfortunately put that salute on the map after copying it from the Italians.

It's the way she holds the salute for a second and the way her expression immediately softens when she breaks it that convinces me. That, and the stiffness of her elbow movements once she realizes. Seems like she got a little too caught up in the moment there and had to play it off when she realized what she had done.

If she didn't hold the salute and it was all one motion, I would say this is overblown. But it's pretty clearly two separate movements there.

A nazi salute? Naw, probably not.

A good look? Naw, probably not.

That's uh...

That's a Nazi salute there pal

I mean, she's clearly not giving a Nazi salute and anyone who thinks she did is ridiculous, but it's still funny. It does definitely say something about the GOP that this is where our minds went though.

Do you know the distinction of a salute? Purposefully locked elbows-wrist-cupped fingers held together...?

of course it was an accident, but it was a beautiful accident that resulted in a photo that not only makes a statement about the republican party's gradual tip-toe into fascism, but also their complete lack of self-awareness of how they're percieved
