Twitter Thinks That Laura Ingraham Made a Nazi Salute During the RNC

That's a fucking nazi salute.

I mean look at her fucking facial expressions and the phony ass change.

Man, I am so embarrassed to be a fuckin' American.

I think I can hear my Grandfathers rolling in their collective graves.

this is stupid. you can catch almost anyone in a moment where their hands are stretched out in a firm wave.

Where the fuck are you seeing a wave in that salute?

Oh you mean when she pulls it away and waves to the other side of the crowd? That's how all of us wave, right guys?

Please tell me this is an unedited photo.

I will make this my background

Look at the gif, she punctuates the pose before transitioning into a wave. It's not like this was some fluid motion people captured in a special way to look bad. She stretched her arm out firmly and then paused there.

It looks extra suspicious at a white nationalist klan rally though. You gotta admit that.

Thank you @IngrahamAngle! #AmericaFirst

"America First" being the slogan promoted before WW2 by Charles Lindbergh, a Nazi sympathizer.

Would not be surprised if this was another in a massive line of winks and nods to Trump's KKK and Neo Nazi followers.

She could have meant to be waving or pointing to someone and fudged it up. If you look at the rest of the wave she stiffens her arm out again in the same motion multiple more times, but this time pointing at people. You're on a huge stage in front of other people. It was probably just an awkward wave. To actually suggest she was deliberately doing a nazi salute because she's a secret neo nazi or something is mind boggling to me, even for republicans.

Strikes me as something probably over-rehearsed. Like someone has told her ok now at the end you have to wave, you wanna start from the left and then slowly rotate around.

She had the ins and outs of the movement itself so precise in her head she forgot to actually wave lol.

The straightening of the pointed finger is the covering her tracks, trying to get way with it

Well... putting aside him being one of the most evil persons in the history of Earth, Hitler's oratory skills were indeed incredible--he's indeed a very good speaker, if we're not counting the subject of the speeches themselves, that is.

Anyways, I find it rather really hard to believe that anyone would deliberately perform a Nazi salute in front of such a public space, where basically anyone can see you. I know, I know, GOP, but even then. The implication would be very tremendous and damaging, so to perform it nily willy in a major convention of a major US political party? Hard to believe.

Laura Ingraham is just the vile person to do it. I'm certain she pulled it off, and blended it into other hand gestures to just give a glimpse. in the morning she can start crying about the PC crowd, the librul media, and the mean meanies calling her a nazi and otber bad things.

Well admittedly I am not familiar with the lady in question.

This is just really common sense talking... but well... still... huh O_o

I can't believe she's actually Heiling Hitler, but if someone did Heil Hitler and then suddenly realise they probably shouldn't be doing that on TV and then awkwardly tried to turn it into a wave and point, that is exactly how I would imagine it looking.

It's like the Nazi version of getting caught trying to stifle a yawn and turning it into a 'just brushing my hair back' manoeuvre.

Pretty much.

I don't think you do something on a national stage like this and expect to just get away with it, but I won't call people who think its a deliberate wink wrong either.

But my God, how it looks, and next to Trump... fucking hell.

It just seems so unbelievable that anyone in that kind of occasion would ever do that deliberately o_O

I mean, Heil Hitler in a major convention of a major political party in the US when cameras are trained on you? I mean, what?

Are you aware of what the GOP platform is? Nothing about a Nazi salute at the RNC is out of line. You're underestimating how vile that portion of the electorate is that they would let this ride.

I just tried what she did sitting in front of my computer and I immediately felt dirty for having done it. It certainly didn't feel like a "firm wave" to me.

Am i back in the 1930's?

Nationalistic America in 2016 says yes. A few years ago I watched a bunch of docs about the rise of Hitler and how Germany actually got to the point that Hitler was viable candidate. It was fascinating. But the videos (in HD which made it even more disturbing) showed how the crowds reacted to pre elected Hitler speeches and it was so easy to see how a Trump election could get that same sort of reception by the right . I mean just look at how forceful Trump took the primaries . The GOP was powerless and still is when it comes to reigning Trump in . So as far as I'm concerned Trump could metamorphosize his campaign into anything at this point and I say that referring to the early parts of this post.

I just did it and it reminded me of the scene in the basement bar in Inglorious Bastards. It's just the wrong gesture. Maybe they do it different somewhere else, but I look at it and I see something American's don't do.

I can say with absolute certainty that there is literally not a single person in the entire United States that would ever push-extend their arm at a 45 degree angle with fingers and thumb in tight without doing it consciously. I mean, I'd give it a solid "maybe" if she was waving from the elbow with closed fingers like some sort of beauty pageant contestant who had no idea what she was doing, but that push really seals the deal.

But, I'm nearly as certain that she did this for publicity and isn't actually a nazi. It's basically the media equivalent of lifting up your shirt at Mardi Gras.

I feel like she just wants to give a resolute, angular wave from one side of the room to the next, either because she's worried her underarm is going to flap if she waves too loosely, or to come off as strong, but ends up being awkward and robotic and even nazi.

However there's this millisecond pause when she raises her arm that makes you wonder what is going on inside her head 'hell yeah I'm doing this', or 'what the fuck am I doing'.

How the fuck can you be american and do a nazi salute?
It's the most unamerican thing and an insult to all the americans killed in WW2.
That should should earn her jail time.

The worst thing about Trump is the atmosphere he is creating and propagating.

And the fact that he is the one doing it, because despite numerous comparisons, comparing Trump to Hitler from an ability point of view is insulting to Hitler.

Hitler was a far far better orator than Trump and was never as flippant as Trump, he became far more flexible after the Munich coup attempt but never to the Trump levels of flippancy.

And the biggest difference is thay Hitler had Goebels behind him. He was the master of his craft, his propaganda was relentless and ruthlessly efficient. Not one of Trump's associates seem to be even close to his level.

Trump is more akin to Rem, a bullish nationalist that paved the way for Hitler.

The biggest mystery/problem/fear is who comes after Trump and picks up where he left off

Very insightful post.

Yeah, Trump really isn't going to go that far.

But man, imagine someone much more intelligent and capable of manipulating voters got into this situation. Scary stuff. Makes you ponder.

I've eyed some mountains up north if shit goes south...

I am aware of what GOP is but even so Nazi is in everybody's do not cross line, so this is a rather hard thing to believe.

I 100% agree but I will disagree on Trumps orating skills . It's been broken down many times and I'm pretty sure he has a very odd way of speaking but deliberate in delivery . I also have a hard time accepting he's an idiot or stumbling into success in terms of this election cycle . I was one of the people (although not on GAF at the time) who though Trump would win the primaries. Now that he's done that I sort of see him winning the election as a real and scary possibility. I think Trump is crude but has a very harsh but effective propaganda machine , not Goebels level but one that can do the job with the audience he needs. This is how I wave to my friends when I see them across the street. Quarter turn, locked elbows, fingers closed, and a stern look. Don't know why they keep running the other way when I do it though. I'm just trying to wave at them.

How the fuck can you be american and do a nazi salute?

You can say the same about those who adamant about the Confederate flag and symbols.

The facial expression, the locked elbow, the jutting out of her hand instead of just raising her arm.

That sure as fuck was intentional.

Racists, facists, and bigots living right smack dab in the middle of plausible deniability.

Secret Nazis are that 2016 shit apparently.

I think it's just a wave gone wrong.

With that said, at a convention for a party that is currently experiencing historically low minority support and regularly flirts with/legislates the idea of supporting whites first, this is just bad optics.

Yeah I will admit that Trump is a much better and charismatic speaker than I ever thought he would be. I still wouldn't put him near Hitler because despite the seeming passion and fervor he is invoking in his listeners, he never seems to elicit those feelings in himself.

I still think that his crudeness wil ultimately be his undoing, he said a lot od stupid shit, and there is honestly probably some of it that was said only because he, at the time, didn't believe he would 100% win the nomination.

Now that the next guy sees how far a guy like Trump got, he will be more confident and picky over what lines and policies he wants to keep a secret from the public until he actually gets in the office
