They've had since the first version and had blatantly been proud about it, while openly advertised their "products" as a gateway for piracy aka free games.

Perhaps more to the point they made sxos freely available in a version that only ran homebrew code but made you pay for a license if you wanted to run pirated games. I always thought that was an incredibly dumb decision from a liability point of view.
