U.S. Special Xbox One promotion -- $50 off the console of your choice

MS wants the lead in November (December would follow naturally because of the sales momentum) badly, and they are well armed to get it. Such a great offer. I wonder how Sony will react...
 
Makes sense. They have quite a killer lineup this holiday, it is the right moment to try to sell as more consoles as possible.

They just need to advertise this everywhere with the top games that are available. MS bringing it!!

I have my Sunset overdrive bundle coming from Amazon I wonder if Amazon will give me discount 2 days later?
 
Was actually considering buying a white Sunset Overdrive bundle this week. Will now wait for next week. Thanks Microsoft!
 
for amazon, i wonder what will happen if someone back order the SO bundle tomorrow, i know they'll restock on november 2 but because everyone wants a piece of that action i'll glady pay $400 just in case...
 
Oh gawd this combined with the 10% off Best Buy movers coupon and the impending Halo MC collection means I have absolutely no choice. Touché, Microsoft.
 
Sweet, in for the AC bundle. Kinda pissed that I have to buy this thing just to play Halo 2, but this'll soften the blow a bit at least.
 
Microsoft better hope the Xbone turns around on a dime. 30% slashed off the price in one year plus a pack-in is giving off a lot of Sega Saturn in Christmas 96 vibes. Runs a major risk of burning early adopters while provoking would-be consumers to ask "what's wrong with it?"

Not necessarily. We don't know what kind of SKU's they're going to be marketing. For all we know, they could have 1TB bundles that are the same price as the Xbox One was before this temporary promotion, effectively making the consumer think that it's a good deal because they get 1 TB hard drive.

For example, the CoD bundle comes with a larger HDD and is $100 off. They could keep the 500gb bundles at $349, introduce a new SKU that has the 1TB bundle back at $399-$449.
 
Microsoft has deep deep pockets. Where as the only thing that's really profitable for sony right now is the play station.

I don't think this will sway people into thinking what's wrong with it. I think they have finally got the correct pricing. I still think 449 in Canada for a play station is too much.
 
If people are already not willing to buy the 399$ + 1/2 games, I don't see another 50$ decrease changing their minds.

This news will be pleasant for those who were interested in a XBone but didn't buy one yet, and those who'd consider buying it as a secondary console. But those players would have bought one eventually, with or without another price cut.

So, I don't see this as having a signifiant long-term effect. MS would have been better off using to money to buy two or three more exclusives.

Well, this is Michael Patcher's assumptions about the consoles put into practice; if the software is (mostly) the same, people will choose the cheaper box. Didn't work in September, but this seems to be a far more aggressive stance. Will it pay off? For the first time I am starting to think it will. Without response from Sony (GTAV bundle, free LBP3, A year of PS+ in every box, whatever) I think Microsoft will win NPDs, at least in November.

So there's no special catch to this; I don't have to get a coupon or buy something else first right? The special promotion thing makes it sound like that, but what I'm reading sounds like it's just a flat (maybe temporary) $50 price cut across the board.
 
I will finally bite on an xbox one at this price. I have a few friends that asked how much would the xbox have to be for me to buy it and I literally said 350 just last week. Time to pony up! I just hope I can find a Sunset Overdrive bundle as that and Forza Horizon 2 are really all I want to play.
 
MS is kind of screwing themselves in 2015. Lowering the price $50 in the minds of consumers and then raising it back up? It will make people hesitant to trust your brand if they always think the price might be different if they just wait.

It will help them in the holidays which seems to be the only thing they care about. But come next year when the price is back up and there are no new games, sales are going to plummet.

no catch. it will just be discounted automatically by retailers.

Sunset Overdrive beats anything on PS4 for me, but i think the PS4 is a million times better system. It's all about the games though, good on MS for getting Sunset as an exclusive

It's worth noting just how dramatically they have thrown Kinnect under the bus. I mean who would buy that Kinnect version now? It comes with no extra software/games and it's $100 more than these other bundles. It's almost like they don't even want people to be aware of the more expensive Kinnect bundle.
 
i feel like this isn't going to help.

somehow, even though MS has a way more exciting fall lineup than Sony, and a better price, i just don't think it's going to help.

You must be talking about the regular (old) Xbox One with Kinect SKU.

The Assassin's Creed Xbox One bundle with Kinect has Kinect (obviously), AC4 and Unity, and Dance Central.
