I live about 5 miles or so from the Sphere. So I can pretty much see it all the time.

Got to say this looks absolutley insane. I hate Bono, south park nailed it with the biggest turd in the world episode. But i'd actually endure this cunt and his mates to see this.

If Radiohead ever play there im selling my soul to be there, mushrooms in hand.

Anyone rich enough planning on going?

I live here in Vegas and I'll probably never be able to go into the Sphere. I just don't have the kind of resources for that. But damn that is so cool looking inside. Maybe one day I'll get rich somehow and then I'll go see it.

I don't think I would like to go to a concert with thousands of loud Americans shouting and screaming over the music, telling their wife and phone what they think of the light show.

I'm working with the Architects that are hopefully doing the London Sphere, they also did that one. It won't be as big as the Vegas one and is currently sitting on the Mayor's desk awaiting sign off. Have to admit I wasn't overly fussed on checking out Vegas, but it's top of my list now because of this, it looks bonkers

I think it might be big concerts in general now, but this venue will encourage it more than others, I would guess. Concerts are obviously often all about spectacle, but this one will be to an even bigger degree.

I imagine U2 won't care at all but here's a clip that makes me wonder what people signed up for when buying their tickets. While performing one of their biggest songs, the singer encouraging the audience to lose themselves in the music and sing along. The audience instead chooses to look at the ceiling and shout "what is happening?!" For the benefit of a video they can share on Twitter.

The concert probably doesn't need the band in this instance...

This is probably the perfect venue for "hologram" performances like Abba's Voyage show.

The company behind the venue are currently trying to get permission to build another one in London, at or near the Olympic Park.

...and the usual local resident NIMBYs are trying their utmost to stop it.

What is the room acoustic concept here? If its just the LED sphere with a PA blasting along its destined to sound horrible.

In addition to the screen, the audience is going to be greeted with Sphere immersive sound with 164,300 channels (speakers) — that's like eight channels for every person in the building. It'll be headset sound without the headset for every seat in the house.”

That screen is so brightful it's like Volume for movies but 50 times bigger.

The effect for sunlight and twilights is so real.
At some point the screen projected what is outside, and it was like an outdoor concert.

What’s wrong with not wanting a huge sphere projecting light and sound near the place you live?

I'd assume a London Sphere wouldn't be built in a residential area. Nevertheless, it's certainly going to be huge. "The MSG Sphere would be nearly the same height as London’s Big Ben (90 meters) and have a diameter of the London Eye (120meters)."

Yeah, I wouldn't want to live next to a huge advertising screen the size of the London Eye.

In response to the criticism, The MSG Company has promised that it will provide blackout blinds to homes within 150 metres of the venue, as well as those with a direct view of it. It has also said it will set up a telephone line for complaints.

Yeah, if there are indeed people who'd need blackout blinds to enjoy a quiet evening at home, I understand why they're trying to stop that project.

-- Update:

Damn. That thing is HUGE! I'd go crazy if I lived nearby the biggest LED display in the world.
