Ubisoft launches live blog to address AC Unity issues, next update detailed

The share price is a double edged sword here. They had a similar drop when they announced Watchdogs delay so the stock market is telling them they better get games out on time and without any low score producing bugs. They should do what is best for their customers not their shareholders yet capitalism forces them to cave to shareholders beyond all else.

Played this for about 5 hours yesterday....

Game is an absolute mess, popping, frame rate, hanging bugs, poorly timed VO....and the stupid online chests and initiates stuff is confusing and annoying.

But even after all of that, I am still really enjoying it, and I really like Arno. So if it wasn't for all the issues, it would be a fantastic AC game.

I'm laughing at all the ppl saying "this is how ubisoft are now, let's stop supporting them"

They've been this way since 2007

The more I play, the more bugs and popin and frame rate trouble i notice. I'm pausing the campaign progress till patched.

We need to push them to add Draw Distance slider/settings. At least on PC. Even if that will have significant impact on performance on higher settings.

No way to experiment in a config file?

Nope. AC games are using Anvil Engine that only allows basic manipulation in config/ini file. Everything else is in .forge packages as far as i know. There is one really old .forge unpacker for AC2 and ACB i think but it doesn't work anymore. Maybe if somebody can access files inside those packages we could mod few things.

We are also investigating various performance issues including framerate drops, and are looking into how we can address them. We’ll tell you more about our progress on that topic in the coming days.

The fact that the glaringly horrific framerate keeps getting relegated to "We're also looking into..." status in all of these patches is slowly convincing me that they're not going to fix it. The glitches are bad and all, but they don't affect every single second of gameplay like the framerate does; this shit should have been priority one for the very first patch.

I've just been doing side missions for the last few days, trying to save the story stuff for when they get the game fixed, but at this rate I'll have cleared out the entire map before I can get on with the story.

Thanks for update, I'll wait for the first major patch before even considering.

the truly most annoying thing was trying to join another gaffers game last night on the X1....100% crash rate....just killed the game knocked me back to the dash everytime.

So apparently it is impossible to invite friends to your session....but play now with randoms online works perfectly fine lol.

I'm praying they sort the framerate out on PS4. My only issue with this game. It's soo good.

Yep. I was pretty surprised.

They nailed almost everything that made ACII good, and found out some interesting workarounds for the weakest aspects of the most recent games. Last one I really enjoyed was Brotherhood, and Revelations to some minimal extent (basically I loved the setting). This one, I want to see where it's going.

But yea, frame rate goes to single digits in some places (like notre dame). Seems more of a bug than engine stress, though.

Once I'm done, I want to erase the patch and play a bit with the vanilla game to figure out where the initial reaction and the gifs were coming from.

Played 3hours with a lot of aprehension cause of all the talks on the framerate and i'm surprises in a good way.

The game is gorgeous, lighting, crowd, I never saw a busy town like that in a game. Cutscenes looks like CG, facial animation is a gen over all the other games.

I was really affraid of the framerate but even in large crowd it's ok for me. Maybe that's because we move slowly in densed crowd but I really don't feel the 25fps, globally the framerate is way better than the other AC on ps3, people needs to play before criticize.

The popin on pnj is really bas though... It's amazing to see cloth simulation on all robes but maybe it's too ambitious for a first game on new gen.

How much of the game can be fixed with patches? Like, technically, given the limits of the consoles and what not? Can they improve the frame rate that much?

Updated Q&A and Known Issues

We hope those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving had a great one!

It has been a while since our last update, and we have a lot to cover, so let’s get right into it. First up, we’ve got some answers for some of the questions that we’ve seen from our community.

What’s happening with the next patch?

Work continues on Patch 4, which should bring improvements to the framerate as well as additional fixes. We’re still testing some fixes in Patch 4, so we’ll have a more detailed preview next week.

How will Season Pass holders redeem their free game?

Many of you have asked about how Season Pass owners will receive their free gift offer and we will have an update that outlines the process in greater detail very soon. For now, we can tell you that we’re working on a web-based solution for submitting requests and distribution fulfillment.

I didn’t get a Season Pass, can I still get AC Chronicles: China?

The answer is YES! We will have more information on this and further details to share about AC Chronicles: China in the New Year.

I got a Season Pass, but I haven’t redeemed the code yet, what should I do?

All Season Passes sold prior to the announcement will still be valid, so you can redeem it at any time. Please note that your Season Pass will have to be redeemed before you are able to receive your free gift offer.

Here’s a list of the top priority issues we are tracking:

Game crashes after loading your save: We’re devoting a lot of attention to this one and we have a workaround (try taking your system offline and reload your save, you should be able to play offline). Most instances of this crash will be eliminated in Patch 4, but if you do still encounter this issue after the Patch is applied please file a Customer Support ticket to help us identify what your issue is so we can create a fix for it.
Error CE-34878-0: Similar to the crash mentioned above, the game freezes or crashes after loading your save. This particular error message is exclusive to PS4. This issue should be resolved in Patch 4.
Initiates legacy recognition issues: Many of these issues have been resolved, but we’ve noted that it could still take several days for all of your progress from past games to be fully updated. If after five days you still don’t see your progress accurately reflected on the site, please file a ticket with Customer Support so we can more closely examine this issue.
Companion App issues: We’ve just released a new patch for the Companion App, so be sure to update to release 1.04 if you have not already. This patch addresses the following issues:
Restoration of lost Premiums
Fixed synchronization issues for first-time users and at login
Fixed the “no assassin” issue in the tutorial
Fixed missions with 100% odds of success that could fail
Fixed an issue with lost progress – simply resync with the HD game and load your save, this will synchronize your online progression data.

Our work continues on Assassin’s Creed Unity and although we expect Patch 4 to rectify most of the remaining issues our players have been reporting, please continue to contact Customer Support with any issues you are having. Thanks very much for your continued support, we hope that your experience with the game continues to improve.
