After watching this fight, I have no doubt in my mind that GSP could wrestlefuck Silva to a decision win.
Yeah, agreed.

And definitely feeling some schadenfreude lurking through Sherdog right now. :lol

Such crap. That was a half tap at best. Silva lucked out big time. Lame ending to the fight.

And you hurt your ribs Silva? Wow. Excuse of a champion.

Yeah I hate Sonnen. Dude's obviously talented and no one would have contested the result if he got a decision win, but I hate that decision grinding shit. If you can't make a guy tap or fall down and not get up through five rounds, fuck off. Sonnen only really looked close to finishing and be the fucking man in round 1. The rest of the fight was Jon Fitch with more talent.

We get Silva vs. Belfort now.

Finally.

Not before Belfort, goddammit.

I almost went off to get a drink so I didn't have to see Anderson lose, but stayed and was rewarded with a comeback submission. Never again.

How do you guys sit here and talk about how awesome that fight was?

It was a hail mary victory. And it sucks, cuz this is just gonna reinforce Silva's shitty attitude and he's gonna continue to punk the fans anytime he thinks he was disrespected and doesn't want to fight.

Whatever. 185 is dead to me :lol

Silva needs to step up to 205 for his next fight and get some Bones in his diet :lol

Why were they talking as if Sonnen was doing damage with his girly little punches on the ground. Silva did way more damage with his elbows laying on his back.

At no point was Silva more hurt than Sonnen, and probably wasn't any more tired.

Silva deserved to win that fight.

Pretty much.

That sequence when Sonnen hit Silva with 15-20 cupcake punches in a row when he had his back says it all. He wasn't doing any damage what so ever to Spider after that first round. Just maintaining control and throwing nothing shots at Silva's face. He couldn't have stopped my 5 year old niece with those shots.

Thank god Silva won, Sonnen was all lay and pray he had no power in his fists. Silva was doing more damage from the bottom.

Yup, this is why lay and pray is the lamest thing in MMA. It's been lame ever since Ricardo Arona near perfected it in Pride. Andersen's one elbow did more damage than 90% of the shots Sonnen threw while in lnp mode.

What program do you use to photoshop a picture?
It was a good win by silva but this fight really took the aura out of him of being mysterious and un beatable like a la lyoto. Chael on the other hand almost proved everyone one wrong, he was so close to winning. There is no doubt Dana will set a rematch.

come on now you got to give him credit for the take downs and he did tag Silva good 3-4 times.

Oh the take downs were great, but not trying to submit was pathetic. He caught Silva in the first round with a good strike but most of his punches on the ground were pretty weak, even the ones they were calling "bombs". Props to Sonnen for good wrestling but its not very fun to watch especially when his damage output is terrible.

Y'all wanted a fight out of Silva, and he gave it to ya... as said, champions grind out wins.
WTF? Champions don't lose every single round and then fluke into a triangle because the guy on top gets really sloppy with his punches, when he could have just ridden the clock out. The supposed champion was ready to lose on his back. Sonnen let his guard down. It's the way the sport goes, but this was hardly a good showing for a champion. PEACE.

He tapped, and was on his way to dreamland. Very lame of Sonnen to dispute the stoppage, but at least he didn't pursue it after the fact.

Oh come on that is horse shit. Sonnen was throwing bombs in the first round. Some fighters cut easier than others and to say that Silva did more damage with a quick short elbow is ludicrous.

bullshit dude. the elbow opened him up but i bet you chael barely felt it.

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
Chael got an admirer out of me. Anderson waited for that one mistake all night and when Sonnen slipped up, it was a done deal.

Even based on tonight Anderson would beat GSP, he wouldn't be able to take the punishment like Sonnen did.

Champions find ways to win no matter how they've performed. At the end of the day he won, and it doesn't matter how or what happened in the rest of the fight.

Awesome fight :D

I always roll my eyes when announces call the latest rounds "champion rounds", it just seems so cliched, but that's exactly what they were tonight. Sonnen must have been dead tired because I was yelling out "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU JUST SITTING UP!" :lol

What? That's stupid. Champs find a way to win even when they're not on their A-Game or their backs are against the wall. :lol

This.

Silva fans need to not be such sore winners, yes Sonnen talked a lot of shit coming into this fight but he did put on a very strong performance, much more than people thought he would.

Hell of a fight for the both of them, and great to watch.

It matters in the talk of who the more dominant champions are and after the year that Anderson has shown, there is really no way you can argue he is the top pound for pound fighter.

That was some good ole fashion course correction at the end of the fight. I appreciate what strong wrestlers bring to the sport, but Silva could have taken those "shots" from Sonnen for another 10 rounds and been no worse for wear.

I don't know if Silva was being straight up about his ribs, but that would explain why he didn't look as fluid. Anyone seriously hurt wouldn't have had the gas to lock in such a vicious triangle

Sonnen worked Silva for 5 rounds, period. Sure Anderson got some elbows in from the bottom (hello bonnar), but his standup was stuffed, and his groud game squashed. Wasn't anything like that crap from Fitch earlier tonight.

Lucky sub because Sonnen got sloppy and sat up tired. Anderson's dancing around trying to channel RJJ got him sat on his ass. Would've been delicious if Sonnen rode it out.

One of the most incredible fights I've seen in UFC. (WEC still has better fights all around)
I've only seen since UFC 100+ because I started working in a restaurant that hosts it, but I've seen every titlecard fight since then and I have to say that this is the best I've seen in my 17 UFC viewings as a total noob who doesn't actively follow the sport. Incredible stuff. Very entertaining.
