will be an awesome fight, but i think shoguns got it.

I finally got around to watching it, and is it just me or was the first fight (Torres vs. Some dude) a midget wrestling challenge? The guy looked like he was half the size as Torres. His reach advantage was astronomical.

what was funny was that banuelos was often literally putting himself at torres's range. torres would come into banuelos's range and banuelos would back up to exactly where torres would keep peppering him with his jab and banuelos's strikes would miss by a foot. is torres's striking really that scary that banuelos couldn't have made more efforts to get inside? i loved that he finally charged in with 10s left and was like FUUUUCK after the round ended. like was he thinking he'd just get punched the whole fight and then score a KO in the last ten seconds? and in that case why not just go for it in the first 10s and spare all of us the rest of the fight

it was really frustrating but this is the "new and improved" miguel torres. he was clearly basically treating it as a sparring match to improve his striking. i don't blame jackson though i think this is the direction miguel wanted to go after getting caught out in the bowles and benavidez fights. he is probably mostly washed up though

It was the MMA equivalent of me doing my final university assignments.

I passed though.

Jon Jones currently a -195 favorite against Shogun.
People betting with their emotion. I'm throwing all my money on Shogun. It will be a hard fight for both guys but Shogun will put it out having the better striking and bjj.

Since Jones has to fight again in six weeks, does he have enough time to cycle?

A lot of times, the hardest part about fighting is the training camp. He's already in fighting shape.
Shogun will be the one with the ring rust, and he's coming off of an injury.

The real question is whether or not Shogun's knees are made of paper mâché at this point, if he can't even attempt to stuff a takedown he's going to get murdered.

Interesting thing is that Jones mentioned that he had been helping Evans train for Shogun so he felt it was as if he had been training for Shogun for a while. Shogun on the other hand hasn't been training at all for Jones.

Anyone else think the stoppage was.... kind of early?

I think Belfort could have recovered from that... but wasnt given the chance. He wasn't knocked out.

I mean.. look at the chances they give a guy like Lesnar or Nog.

Was hoping Shogun would be the favorite so I could make money. Shogun is coming off too long a lay off and given Jones style--destroying mofos from the clinch, I see it being a bad night for Shogun.

He took a kick right to the face and then a few hard shots straight to his head, he was in la-la land

Brock had his hands up and was moving around after he was knocked on his ass

Uh... Belfort was knocked the fuck out. And wasn't defending himself on the ground.

knocked the fuck out = unconscious

Belfort was not ktfo

I'm not even saying it was a terrible stoppage or anything.. I've certainly seen worse.
But i dunno... seems like some people are getting more of a chance than others.

2 straight jabs on the floor, and he could barely put his hands up for protection

fair stoppage, he was out

i actually thought the stoppage was LATE but i'm really not into watching semi-conscious dudes with their arms at their sides get punched in the face. belfort went stiff like bisping. i think when a guy goes stiff thatswhatshesaid that's it. doesn't matter if he recovers a couple seconds later 95% of people who get KO'd or choked out recover in a matter of seconds

didn't you have bader in the fight last night? or say he's being underrated? i think maybe you are the one betting with emotion.

most likely outcome to me is more jones hate leading up to the fight, then after the fight just like the last five jones fights people going hmmmm well it would be nice if someone gave jones a challenge but what can you do? we'll have to see how he responds when he's really tested. followed by talk of all of shogun's injuries. let's just do jones-davis already and dispense with the formalities

Vitor was out man.

And Shogun has zero chance against Jon Jones.

Mark it down.

None.

None, huh? Well no need for the fight now, let's just hand the belt to Jones now. I think JJ has a good chance of winning, but it's not written in stone, I think it'll depend a lot on which Shogun shows up and whether or not his knee will hold up because JJ will definitely test it.

In what world was Vitor stiff?

Certainly not after the kick

Comparing it to Hendo/Bisping is laughable. Bisping was out before he hit the mat.

What are you talking about? He didn't even try to defend Silva's punches when Silva got on top of him and after the fight was ended he stayed on the ground for an additional 3+ minutes.

You know when someone's eyes tell you they're trying to do something, but their body just doesn't agree with them?

Yeaaaaaaaaaah.

yall be crazy

Im not saying it was terrible stoppage...

but if that was Anderson on the bottom.. the fight wouldnt have been stopped after 2 punches.

Yes, it would have. If he was completely unable to move his hands from his waist to his face nobody would question it.

There's also the "what the fuck dude" rule. If a fighter can't immediately get up and ask the ref "what the fuck dude", it was probably a good stoppage.

After that front kick... yeah it would have been... maybe three punches.. I'll give you that.

now you are playing semantics with a phrase (knocked the fuck out) that doesn't even have an exact definition. The kick knocked him out of his wits, he was out of his feet before he hit the ground and Silva pounced with a punch right after that sealed the deal. Vitor wasn't even able to put his hands anywhere near his face to protect himself. If the ref hadn't stopped it he would have just eaten one or two needless shots, he had zero chance of recovering at that point. And to top it all off, it took him like 2 or 3 minutes AFTER the fight to get up and recover. He was done. You don't have to be asleep to be KTFO or for a fight to be fairly stopped. You are right, he could have recovered, he wasn't completely out or asleep, if this was boxing and he was given a standing 8 count, but it's not and Silva would have just punched him some more if the fight were allowed to continue.

Big Baybee said:
He was out mang. That stoppage was in no way early. He was not defending after he got kicked.
He could barely lift his legs to stop Silva's mount, then Silva landed the first punch that really sealed the deal because Vitor wasn't defending at all.

I'd call that fair stoppage.
