I will not subscribe to the "knockdown + 2 punches = TKO" reffing model

pride never die!

Cool. Just acknowledge that you're in the minority by about 10:1 and that pretty much everyone else agrees that Vitor was a limp noodle that was incapable of defending himself after the kick.

Vitor's face after the kick looked like something out of Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

I wouldn't mind Vitor/Bisping next to help Vitor get back on his feet, and also to see that asswipe Bisping get the shit knocked out of him again.

So how do you guys rank the craziest KO's in UFC history now? Silva/Vitor is up there, but Rich Franklin's KO of Nate Quarry might be the most brutal.

In what world was Vitor stiff?

Certainly not after the kick

Boy....

This man is clearly not at all defending his face when he is taking two shots to the head right there in that image. Put your contacts in and have another look, he was done.

re-watch the thing in high-def, in slow motion. Vitor's eyes rolled back and he was clearly out for a moment. The ref gave him the benefit of the doubt, but there was no way Vitor would recover fast enough from that kick.

And Shogun has zero chance against Jon Jones.

Mark it down.

None.

I think Jones will most likely win, but Shogun is the best standing and the best off his back that Jones has faced. Was it impressive that he took down Bader so easily? Of course, but he threw Hammil around and Bader isn't much different in strength or wrestling ability. We still haven't seen Jones against a champion-caliber fighter.

If Jones beats Shogun... what does that do for Rashad's title hopes? If they're homies and say they won't fight each other, then Rashad permanently stays as #1 contender until someone beats Jones? He could be on the shelf for 2 years if that's the case.

if he turns down the fight he loses his shot. He doesn't get to stay number 1 until Bones loses to someone else, that's bullshit. He gets passed by IMO. I hate this "We're friends/in the same camp we can't fight" stuff. Nobody is asking you to go out there and fight to the death, but if you want the title bad enough switch camps for 6 months and deal with it.

We already have his statement:

ESPN said:
Evans is confident that the 23-year-old Jones will claim the 205-pound title in March over Rua and that's where the predicament comes into play. The two have sworn they won't fight one another and Evans said it might be best to explore other options sooner rather than later.

Jon Jones will be gunning for the light heavyweight title sooner than even he expected.
"There is no doubt in my mind that [Jon Jones] is going to win," Evans told ESPN.com. "He is going to destroy Rua in the first round.

"[After that], I'm still not going to fight Jon. I will always find something to challenge myself. I will go up to heavyweight or down to middleweight. But I will not fight Jon."

The former light heavyweight champion expressed confidence he could be competitive in both weight classes. He won the second season of the "Ultimate Fighter" reality series as a heavyweight, but has never competed at middleweight.

Shad would get eaten alive at Heavy. Cain/Brock/Carwin aren't the same kinds of guys you fought on TUF. Middle would be interesting. I don't think he'd be able to touch Silva, but the division is pretty open after Anderson, and I guess you could always wait him out and hope he retires in a year or something.

And what if Jones doesn't want to fight Rashad, does he get fired too?

I'd be fine with that. If a #1 contender accepts and sings on the dotted line and the champion doesn't? What kind of champ is that?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing too.

Rashad getting hurt is without a doubt the best possible scenario for Jones. Not only does it avoid the 'I won't fight my bro, brah' thing, but now Greg Jackson & Co. can focus all of their attention on getting Jones the title while Rashad heals up. Then when Jones wins the title, he'll have Machida, Rampage or *maybe* Thiago Silva, none of whom are nearly as strong a wrestler as Evans (which I believe is Jones' main weakness now, despite manhandling Bader).

Poor, poor Rashad.

I feel bad for Vitor. He really wasn't doing bad before the kick, and it seemed like it was going to be a decent fight. Then he got flash K.O.'d. To be honest, I don't think even Anderson expected to knock him out with that kick. I'm not saying it was an accident or anything, but I don't think anyone in the world saw that coming. Except for Steven Seagal maybe.

in no other sport can you have this crap.

If I remember correctly Shogun said in an interview he is a professional and will fight anyone. Atleast he gets it.

Besides Wand and Ninja, so if Wand was still a contender at 205, they wouldn't fight each other.

Dana needs to make and example out of someone. maybe release Rashad outright. Like he did with Daley.

Boxing, Tennis (the Williams sisters, as an example, never play each other as hard as they did everybody else), and every single team sport (Players who train and practice together don't play against each other, when they get traded they're no longer practicing and training together).

Gonzaga's KO of Cro-Cop was pretty brutal. I will always remember that leg and how the ref moved it back into a normal position.

how about forrest getting jabbed to death by anderson. that has to be up there for most embarassing ko ever

that was more embarrassing than brutal. Forrest got right back up and hauled ass out of the cage because he was shamed. I mean KOs when you think the guy is dead.

that was the GOAT asswhooping

Anderson was a man in the Matrix that night. he saw every punch before Forrest even thought about throwing it.

I remember me and my buddies joking that night that Forrest was so embarassed he was running all the way back to Vegas (the UFC fight was in Indiana I believe), then the next night we went to the WEC show and sure enough, Forrest was there

Interesting to hear Seagal talking about Machida. He brought him up several times, saying he was teaching him things like that kick and other stuff. Will be interesting to see if he brings out any of it in his next match.

Saw one last weekend where the poor kid was stiff as a board for like 5 minutes after the fight.

That was the first time I've properly watched UFC.
Could anyone recommend me some awesome/classic fights to watch?
The fight that really got me into it way back in the day was Matt Hughes vs Frank Trigg. I won't spoil it for you. I watched it casually until that fight, which really opened up my mind about how impressive and well-rounded these fighters are.

http://video.mail.ru/mail/valerox1972/1313/1327.html

Most of Anderson Silva's fights are great for showcases of flash and KOs. Some of his latest fights are boring as hell, but three years ago, Silva was ridiculously fun to watch. He always did something wacky. His Matrix dodges against Rich Franklin were hilarious and he outmatched Forest Griffin so bad that Griffin ran backstage in embarrassment right after he lost.

The best KO in UFC history actually took place in the WEC...same thing, anyway:
